For the same reason she never got a Hot 100 credit for the "Unforgettable" remix or the "Big Energy" remix - the remix version has to get more points than the original for that to be the credited version. The difference here is that the original version isn't currently doing all that well where the others were top 10 hits when the remixes came out, so it does leave more room for the remix to get the chart credit for at least one week if it sells and streams well. I just learned this exists. So much better than the original |

This has to be the worst case of missed opportunity in the history of music. What is the use of resurrecting a daed song that already served its purpose and topped the charts? Mariah should've put her foot down and insisted that they collaborate on a new single.

I wasn't aware of the "featuring" vs. "with" distinction. I always thought they were used interchangeably. That's a little reassuring.

I mean, I'm glad she returned to the flock, but I haven't forgotten and Mariah probably hasn't either, deep down. And on top of that she started cozying up to Nicki right after American Idol. I'm glad Covid brought some sense back into her and prolly a heart-to-heart conversation with Gaga about which Legends to respect. Out of the celebrity lambs Tamar will always be the most loyal. Look at Beyoncé and what she did as well. What did Beyonce do? Anyway, even though I wish Mariah were on an original song, I will take this! |

I think the credit thing is just more so label negotiations, but I'd love to see some examples. When Ariana was added to "Die For You" the Hot 100 credit was "&" so that's not either "featuring" or "with" lol. For "Karma" Ice Spice got a "featuring" credit but obviously adding a verse is new lyrics and thus a writing credit. Anyway we will see. |

Ive never thought of Poo Bear 🐻 until I seen him like Mariah's Valentine pic and it hit me why ain't these two ever worked together in her projects. Most know him from his work wirh Justin NOT Trudeau but he has credits from 99 with 112, 2000s Pink, Mya, usher , Method Man, Jill Scott etc...

They worked together on "The Distance," but yeah I'd welcome them working together again. That tweet isn't fully accurate as she's been on Busta Rhymes songs twice now, and neither led to an album. She also had "Things That U Do" come out not long after Rainbow, so that's sort of a wash. "So Lonely" then came out well after TEOM but in time for the re-release. Just trying to keep expectations in check, I guess, though obviously I'd love a new album. |

(Maybe JD lol) We obviously don't know yet, but if all Mariah did was record a verse and some other vocal parts she likely didn't work with anyone except her engineer. If they did rework the song for the remix, then she potentially worked with Max or someone. I doubt it though. |

y'all really complaining about new music with a superstar, huh! I'm kidding a li'l, I get the complaints, but let's try to be a little bit happy. :) My gripe is just that it likely won't count for the Hot 100. I dunno, radio is mid enough for the single that maybe sales and streaming could counterbalance? It's an uphill battle. I think that the label would immediately change over the song on radio to the remix. It seems too much of a love fest between Ari and Mariah to not make an all out push. Plus the song is stalled at radio so there’s no reason to not switch versions. Big Energy was growing organically on its own so the label had no incentive to switch to remix version. We shall see tomorrow but I’m guessing it’s all Mimi going forward. |
