That and Can’t Let Go have truly stood the test of time.
I wish artists still covered songs like they used to in the past. Would love some studio renditions of Mariah classics.

I wouldn't. Mariah has a very specific voice and tone and there are very few people on the planet that can do her songs justice. Her versions are so ingrained in my brain that an artist would have to put a totally unique (and amazing) spin on a Mariah classic for me to appreciate it.

Her versions are so ingrained in my brain that an artist would have to put a totally unique (and amazing) spin on a Mariah classic for me to appreciate it. Not to mention you have these vocalists always singing Mariah's songs and overdoing it, but people crown them as great vocal performances because they are over belting and screaming. I've watched a lot of videos on YouTube of people covering her songs. A lot of Filipino and Brazilian vocalists have covered Mariah songs especially Gabriel Henrique. I think he's a good vocalist, but I don't like his tone, and I think he tends to over-sing without any emotion behind it. |

I'm glad she's seemingly had a change of heart in regards to Love Takes Time. If I recall correctly, she's also softened on her opinion of I Don't Wanna Cry (or at least tolerates it more) partly after re-visiting the concert at Tokyo Dome. Hopefully she'll eventually change her mind on Someday. But I'm not holding my breath on that one, lol.

LTT + IDWC are by far the highlights of the debut, you won’t change my mind. IDWC remains a top 5 ballad of hers for me. The atmosphere of that song’s production with her vocal performance is unreal.

I think this is actually the first holiday song we heard from Mariah:
I wish they had put this live performance on an "AIWFCIY" single instead of the St John the Divine performance that will also be on Merry Christmas.

Even though the MC 30th anniversary vinyl won't ship until Dec. 13th, the album will be available to stream on various platforms on Dec. 6th. The tracklist is the same as the vinyl but also includes an additional track: Miss You Most (At Christmas Time) (Video Version). Guess that means Christmas Wrapping and Sleigh Ride (presumably with a proper outro) will remain exclusive to the AIWFCIY physicals for now.

I don't know how they got this iin suck high quality but Tommy gone yank it off YouTube.. an absolutely iconic tour, performance and vocals out of this world.
When you see and hear Mariah in her prime like I did you'll never be impressed by these less than next Mariah they keep imposing on me

Meanwhile, I don't know if anyone is interested, but I made a Spotify playlist of every holiday song Mariah has done (as well as Faith Hill's "Where Are You Christmas" that Mariah co-wrote). I tried to make it flow well based on the style of songs. You can check it out here:
Let me know if I forgot anything. I only used 1 version of each song, except for the "JTTW" remix since it's so different from the original and works well as a New Year's dance song.

It has seemingly lost some steam, but so have most holiday songs; the Spotify numbers for "Rockin' Around..." are down, too, for example. Part of it might also be that Thanksgiving is so late this year, so maybe we'll see "AIWFCIY" and other holiday songs take over by the end of the week. Kendrick's album bomb doesn't help either. "AIWFCIY" is currently predicted to be #10 on the next Hot 100, which is the one that ends with Thanksgiving - but 7 of the tracks above it are from Kendrick's surprise album, so it would be #3 otherwise. Last year it was #4 on the Hot 100 that ended with Thanksgiving. |

I saw her Christmas show last week and she sounded FANTASTIC! A huuuuge improvement over the last time I saw her in 2017. She had a big sold-out crowd, too.

"AIWFCIY" re-enters the Hot 100 at #16 (chart date 11/30/24). It is #6 on the streaming chart.
Merry Christmas rises 47-36 on the Billboard 200 with the equivalent of 19k sold.
