"Touch My Body" will hit 200 million views on YouTube in the next day or two. Mariah will then have 9 videos to hit this mark. Whitney has 5, Madonna has 4 (if you combine the various "Vogue" videos), and Celine has 2.

I think another factor that put Mariah (+ Whitney, Madonna, and Janet) at disadvantage compared to recent artists like Beyoncé is the fact that some categories like Best Pop Vocal and Best R&B/Contemporary R&B album didn't exist during their respective primes. - Best Pop Vocal Album only began to be awarded in 1995, so "True Blue", "Like A Prayer", "Control", "Whitney Houston", "Rhythm Nation", "Mariah Carey", "Emotions", and "Music Box" lost on what would have been an easy category for them, even with a more elitist panel (especially considering how Janet, Whitney, and Mariah's debuts were all nominated for AOTY). - Best R&B Album was only created in 1995, and Best Contemporary R&B Album in 2003. Janet actually got nominated for the latter with her 2004 and 2006 efforts (but lost to the behemoths that were "Confessions" and "B'Day"), so one can only imagine how she could have fared with her own successful albums "janet.", "The Velvet Rope", and "All For You". Ditto for "Butterfly". Just some additional food for thought. Rap/Sung Collaboration being a category earlier might have helped, too; "Breakdown" and "Heartbreaker" would have been contenders. Still, I don't know that they would have rewarded Mariah since they were clearly resistant once she got with Tommy. Best Rap/Sung collaboration as a category literally wouldn’t have existed if not for Mariah. I always take solace in that

Looking like she stepped out of a 1992 photoshoot.
"It is an honour to be recognised as an innovator because in my experience when you have holes in your only pair of shoes and are existing on a dollar a day, choosing between food and a subway ride, when you are the only one who believes in your vision for yourself, you better gets to innovating.
"I, like so many African American artists, we create out of necessity, out of pain, out of hardship. We create out of having nothing. Nothing but the ability to believe and that is the power, that is the blessing, that is the ultimate emancipation."
Dedicating the award to all the loved ones and family members who passed away over the last year and "who we have yet to get justice for, who we couldn't send home in the way we're used to",
It's been the ride of my life to have this career. I have been blessed and fortunate in every single way to be able to literally give you all the human beings, the black and brown human beings that I've embodied and to give them to you and to help you to feel less alone through their stories.
"I will continue to leave a legacy of hope, of life, of humor, of pathos, of humanity for as long as God will have me here.
"I just want to say this one thing, because of this past year and everything that we have been through, what the caterpillar calls the end of the world, the master calls the butterfly. We have within us, all the tools that are necessary to elevate our lives in the most unbelievable profound ways

WIB video is already at 5 million on YouTube and over 2 million on Facebook! But We gotta do something for radio support. Be it twitter or good old fashion call and request, but the video cant do it alone... if it gets a few initial radio spins it may just start taking off on its own. Do you know what a minor rhythmic hit could do for Mariahs next project?!

Today Where I Belong goes for radio adds to rhythmic stations. Today we should all call one station in our area to request. One of two things will happen with this song. Either it will start to get rhythmic play and Mariah will be back on a radio format not seen since 2015s #Beautiful. Six years ago. Or the song will come and go without as much as a whimper. There are a lot of factors at play of course. But if we don’t all do our part this week then we shouldn’t complain if Mariah is yet again shut out of radio. Building a relationship with a format is important for her next release. Unless she is planning to work with Walter, she will need rhythmic to have any kind of success. In all actuality many casual listeners believe Mariahs last current song was Obsessed in 2009. We can also do our part by sharing the video everywhere. And pressing like on other shared posts of it. But specifically radio will help the video get more views. Lets do this, we have the casual hip hop fans on our side.

Anyone focusing on radio airplay of new Mariah Carey releases 30+ years into her career is missing the plot at this point..

The lambs greatest enemy are the lambs themselves. So small minded. How do we know what will become a hit? What if the general public who listens to rhythmic radio actually like Where I Belong!
Today I’ve already called two stations. One I didn’t get through to the other said they would play it! Whether they do or not is out of my control but I at least did something proactive to help a song and Mariah.
The lambs want success but bash every suggestion to how to get it.

I don’t think Mariah’s lack of mainstream radio airplay makes her unsuccessful. She is obviously not trying for this anymore. Once mainstream radio fell out of favour with R&B again she stuck to her guns instead of collaborating with Calvin Harris and the likes. If she wanted to continue to chase radio success she would have done it many moons ago. At this point, really gorgeous albums like Caution do enough to solidify her legacy and I think that’s success that any lamb should be happy with 30+ years into one of the most prolific music careers of all-time.

I actually do think Mariah wants success and radio success. That’s why she was pissed with Epic’s 4 instant grats in regards to Caution. I just think she wants the hit on her terms, with the music she likes. That’s why WIB is important because it is in her lane and if it starts taking off you can be sure she’ll be all over it. Look how much effort she puts into AIWFCIY (the only song of hers that charts high these days). This is a business, a record business. It might be cool for the lambily to be okay with Mariah resting on her laurels but for how long or how many albums do you think she will get to make it absolutely nothing charts?? She can only say “ya but Daydream sold diamond” for so long.

She can only say “ya but Daydream sold diamond” for so long. If that were true, she would not have released an album of Rarities (throw-aways, really), just a year ago. And if she was resting on her laurels, we wouldn't have gotten an entire Christmas special with re-recorded vocals, that were also released as a soundtrack. All that, on top of releasing a bestselling memoir. Girl, sit down.
