As long as she’s with Melissa I feel good about it. I like what they’ve done together.

Mariah Carey is music royalty. Let’s start there. Living music royalty. In reality she should be able to sign to the biggest label and command at least a moderate budget. She’s Mariah Carey! However I feel like over the years she’s burnt all of her corporate bridges to the place of no return. She’s had a problem with every single label and the way she was treating LA Reid at the tail end of his time at Epic was inexcusable. Granted she was under the Stella spell. Maybe Range Music is all she has left? I would be excited if Capitol/Virginwere actually included in the process of developing her next album and marketing but I’m not so sure it’s that.

I wrote a song a while back even before "One Sweet Day" and it was... not my favorite song in the world, but I wrote it. Somebody asked me to write a song, they told me the story and it was kinda like a moving concept or whatever and I did it and I was like, you know, this is not necessarily what I like per se. But after doing the song over and over again and having people coming up to me and saying thank you for writing "Hero" because it saved my life, or it saved my father's life or it saved my brother's life or my sister's life or something of that nature... I said I always I have to sing that song whenever I perform because if I don't, you never know who I'm leaving out. And you know what? In times in my life I've had to turn to that song and you know flip it on to my own life and sing it to myself.
Name this Mimi quote! #lambquiz

"Can't Take That Away" >>> "Hero"*ducks* I can't say it's a better song necessarily, because "Hero" is just a perfectly put together track. But I listen to CTTA way more often and it moves me in a way that "Hero" never has.

Here is my version of The Rarities that i created as a playlist. Its two discs, the first being never before heard songs, the second disc being b-sides or stand alone songs. Keeps all her releases neatly in one place and I made it 15 songs on each disc to keep in line with her greatest hits album, for a combined 30 songs to celebrate #MC30:
The Rarities (2020) Disc1:
1. Here We Go Around Again 2. Can You Hear Me 3. All I Live For 4. One Night 5. Out Here On My Own 6. Loverboy Firecracker 7. I Pray 8. When I Feel It 9. Cool On You 10. Imperfect 11. Skydiving 12. Somewhat Loved 13. Mesmerized 14. Lullaby a Birdland 15. Save The Day (ft. Lauryn Hill)
Disc2: 1. Do You Think Of Me 2. Everything Fades Away 3. Slipping Away 4. Do You Know Where You’re Going To 5. There For Me 6. Miss You (ft. Jadakiss) 7. There Goes My Heart 8. Secret Love 9. Sprung 10. 4Real4Real (ft. Da Brat) 11. Heat 12. H.A.T.E.U.(remix) 13. Triumphant (ft. Meek Mills, Ross) 14. I Dont (ft. YG) 15. Runway

Fixed. Didn’t forget them but as infamous, almost home and in the mix are part of the film/tv industry they are their own thing. And her Christmas stand alone songs appear on 2019’s re-release holiday album.

I liked Almost Home when it came out but I haven't really given it a spin since about 2013. I think Mariah herself has thrown it into the bin. Probably because she didn't write it.

Are Mariah’s perfumes still a thing? Like, still out there available for sale? What about that soda or whatever she had?

Are Mariah’s perfumes still a thing? Like, still out there available for sale? What about that soda or whatever she had? Funny, I was wondering that too because recently I got to smell her very first perfume, M (smells disgusting! One of the most hideous, heavy, overly sweet, fragrances I've ever smelled - I was surprised it was as hugely successful as it was. I HATED IT!) and her third, Forever (absolutely mesmerizing, light, soft, and ethereal smell - night and day with that abomination, M. Absolutely LOVED IT!). From what I remember all of them—if I'm not mistaken she's created about a dozen—made her and Elizabeth Arden pretty big $$$ which is why I'm surprised she didn't keep pumping out more, like J.Lo or Jessica Simpson do. Last time she talked about her perfume line was in 2017 and she had only mentioned that she was making a new one, which was going to come out the following year; it smelled like "success" (😂😂😂) she had said. Obviously with Stella ultimately getting the boot nothing came of it. Her beverage, Butterfly Drink, from back in 2014, was a bust.

Yall might as well have included arguably her two best albums Daydream and Butterfly and called it a day.
I took a gander at the list and right away spotted some undeserving body of work by otherwise incredible artists.

Which albums were #1 and #2 if Mariah was below them? I can't find the list link.

The debut was one of my least favorite albums from WH who has great songs but never found her albums to be worthy of top rankings. Mariah and Janet were more quality album artists to me

I never understood why Whitney's debut is considered a top-tier album by some critics/publications. The singles are undeniable classics and there are some pleasant tunes on the record, but it's definitely not on the level of any Mariah or Janet project from their respective primes. That applies to all of Whitney's discography, really - including "The Bodyguard". No offense at all, since she was a one-of-a-kind vocalist, but her non-single output was often very lacking and generic.
On another note, where the hell is Beyoncé on this list? Lauryn Hill? Sade? Aaliyah? Janelle Monae?
And really, despite being one of the few Lambs who adores and cherishes "Music Box" for its blissful heavenly vibes, there's no way it should be here over "Daydream" and "Butterfly". Very disappointing work from you, Billboard.
(I am happy to see Alicia Keys' debut getting some love, though, even if I'm not sure it's all-time top 10 worthy)

Hm...some users under the comments are suggesting this might be based on their success on the Billboard 200. What do you guys think?
"Control" being ahead of "Rhythm Nation" seems bizarre on that regard, given how utterly dominant the latter was.

Y'all getting all upset when it is obvious this list was made based on chart performance. Lol. I mean there is no Beyonce or Lauryn Hill in the top 10. All of these albums are a decade plus old.
ETA I think it's fake. It isn't anywhere outside of a couple accounts on twitter.

And I could see a case being made for I'm Your Baby Tonight but otherwise her albums were vehicles for the HITS. And I mostly fault Clive Davis for that since the aforementioned albums were more under Whitney's control in terms of song selection, Just Whitney notwithstanding . Mariah on the other hand could have 1-2 compilations of deep cuts and still have it all be quality.
