If that ad is real, it will be one of the smartest things she's ever done. Doing an annual series of concerts for Christmas in NYC, of all places, is genius. Thousands upon thousands of people fly to NYC to experience the holidays there, it's really ideal. It's also smart cause its her hometown and doesn't have to worry about traveling. Forget Las Vegas, NYC is the place to be! lol Yass, Mimi, yass! I really hope its true.

Confirmed: Mariah to Headline NYC Christmas shows



For the first time in her two-decade-plus career, Mariah Carey will headline a series of Christmas shows in New York. Set for mid-December, tickets go on sale during the second week of November but presales begin much sooner.

The shows carry a holiday theme, naturally. After all, would you expect anything less from the self-proclaimed “Queen Of Christmas?” “All I Want For Christmas Is You, A Night Of Joy and Festivity” will take over NYC’s Beacon Theatre Dec. 15-16, 18 & 20. The shows celebrate the 20th anniversary of the release of Carey’s Merry Christmas album which has sold more than 14 million copies to date.
“I can’t imagine being anywhere more special than live on stage, in my hometown, celebrating with my fans during the Christmas season, my most treasured time of year,” Carey said. “I can’t wait!”

Most presales, including one for Citi cardholders, begin Nov. 3 at 10 a.m. General onsales begin Nov. 10 at 12 p.m. All times EST. Check out MariahCarey.com for more information.

Jazz & Blues signs Mariah Carey





GLOBAL superstar Mariah Carey has been confirmed as the headline act for the 19th annual Jamaica Jazz & Blues Festival next January.

Carey, regarded as the best-selling female artiste of all time, will be making her first-ever appearance in the Caribbean, and her signing is being seen as a major triumph for the world-renowned festival, scheduled for January 29 - 31 at the Trelawny Multi-purpose Stadium on Jamaica's north coast.

"Welcoming Mariah Carey to Jamaica's shores is truly exciting and we are extremely pleased to announce this iconic star as our headline act for 2015," festival producer Walter Elmore said yesterday. "Her agreeing to perform on our stage is a testament to the quality of our production. We are the only festival in the Western Hemisphere to present Mariah Carey since her last tour in 2006."

Yesterday, Carey was quoted as saying that she was anxious to perform in Jamaica.

"I'm thrilled to be performing in Jamaica for the first time ever," she said. "I can't wait to connect with my Jamaican fans and I am really looking forward to spending some time pon de island as well."

Carey has sold more than 200 million records and has logged 18 Billboard Hot 100 Number 1 singles, more than any solo artiste in history.

With her distinctive five-octave vocal range and prolific songwriting and producing talent, Carey has defined the modern multi-format performer.

She has received multiple Grammy Awards, 21 American Music Awards, Billboard's Artiste of the Decade Award, the World Music Award 2014 Pop Icon and Artiste with Most Number 1 Singles in America Awards.

She has also won BMI's Icon Award for her outstanding achievements in songwriting, among other notable accomplishments.

The multi-platinum artiste, who was born in Long Island, New York, made her debut with the self-titled set Mariah Carey in June 1990. On August 4 that year the set peaked at Number 1 on the Billboard charts.

Yesterday Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival promoters said her set list for Jamaica is expected to be an exciting mix of her biggest fan-favourite pop and dance hits, R&B ballads, and hip-hop jams, along with popular selections from her critically acclaimed CD, Me. I am Mariah...The Elusive Chanteuse.

Here’s the thing. We don’t have a relationship, Mariah and I. We shared a moment in our lives, but then she had to split off from the rest of us. So with all of her personal angst and her personal, emotional split up with her husband meant she had to split up with [all of us]. These were her personal choices….She let that be the status quo, so we haven’t worked together since the Butterfly album. I don’t know any of her plans or decisions for the future about stuff I created with her. I would hope that I would have seen something this year, being that it’s the 20th anniversary, but I have not seen or heard anything.

For the non-original songs on the album, out of all the Christmas music, how did you and Mariah decide on which songs made the cut?

It was always a companion decision between Mariah and Tommy and the record company. So Tommy being the record company and being her partner and husband, we were always subject to his opinion and guidance. Mariah really took his wisdom very seriously, because if you don’t have the support of the record company, you might as well hang up. You need to have the partnership. Mariah also has specific styles she wanted to sing; she wanted a variety that really exemplified her voice and took her to places that she normally wouldn’t go to in her pop career.

You’ve worked with so many iconic artists over the years. What’s the key to a successful writing or producing partnership?

To me, the key to any collaboration is to make sure that you are keeping your integrity intact and that you are true to yourself because today it is very difficult to do that because of the flavor of the month, people get on the radio doing a very particular thing today. You can’t just do whatever you want and get on the radio like in the old days. So people have been selling out, and really subscribing to a very narrow lane of music creation just to get on the radio. That to me is a very bad part about the music business. I’m very saddened by that and very unsupportive of that.

I love all music. If you’ve got something to say, you should be able to say it and I think if you’ve got something to say people should be able to hear it if they want. In the old days, and I’m talking about 20 years ago, we were doing Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, Michael Bolton, New Kids on the Block. We were all working hand in hand to create music that had their integrity and their strength and style was shining brightly as forever artists. Today you have a very hard time finding forever artists in the mainstream pop that is being produced. So, that’s my spiel. Everyone had their moment of glory, but the ones who kept their moment of glory forever were those that were true to themselves.

Thanks to Linkinfan815 for posting this article, (i reposted just a piece of it above) It's not every day that you hear Walter being asked about Mariah, so I though that the above portions were a fascinating read. I know it would never happen, but I would love it if Mariah and Walter could celebrate the 20th anniversary of Merry Christmas together somehow. They certainly made some amazing magic together.
