I thought she was doing the Tree Lighting Ceremony in NY? She is. Unless it was cancelled and I didn't hear about it.

What else could she do for a 20th anniversary issue? She already rereleased it at one point and has a second Christmas cd. Heck, just release what has been released with new packaging to give the anniversary attention. But, yeah, as has been mentioned, the St John concert is out there. She could put different versions/remixes on it. It could be anything. The point is just to hype up the anniversary.

Can I get an informed lamb to explain this music video to me?
I haven't watched it in years, and now that I have, I didn't remember her using a different recording (or, as I suspect, partially new recordings). Some of the high notes at the end are a carbon copy of the original, so I suspect they are the original recordings, but when was this done? It says 1994 on YouTube but that's just the CD copyright--she looks older here, so I imagined they filmed something years after the fact. And who told her it was a good idea to sing the first half of this song alternating between a baby-coo voice that barely registers a decibel and her glorious full voice?
It's just so odd all put together. I wish there were a real live version of her "O Holy Night" from the mid-90s because it would have been "If It's Over" epic.

That was around 2001-2002 time frame. It's awful. Whoever mixed that should be ashamed. And shame on Mariah for not having a better ear for what she was doing to the song.

Of course I can't seem to find it now. But I saw a source on Facebook announcing a giveaway for tickets to see Gaga and Tony one night and Mariah another night.

This was filmed in 2000 to promote the re-issue of Merry Christmas. She added some new vocals to make it pseudo-live. At that point the breathy vocals had fully become part of her style, so it makes sense that she would record those parts in that register.

With all of the horrors going on in this country right now, I had to break out Merry Christmas a lil early this year. Lift up our souls, Messiah!!!!

Merry Christmas moves 162-105* on the Billboard 200 this week. For the comparable 2013 chart, it advanced 186-115*.
"All I Want For Christmas is You" re-enters Recurrents at No. 23. If it performs similarly to the last couple of seasons, it should re-enter the Hot 100 with the 12/20 chart. I wouldn't entirely rule out a one-week-early re-entry, though.
The Holiday 100 chart should return next week.

Can I get an informed lamb to explain this music video to me? Vanity? Frustration with her early '90s music? It's like how she added in a few airy parts to the version of "God rest Ye..." on that Merry Christmas dual disc thing. So pointless, and more than that badly edited. She also poorly added in applause to things like that 'live' version of "Whenever You Call" with Brian. Considering how often these things have been done, it's clear to me she just doesn't care.

I have to admit I'm slightly disappointed we haven't heard anything about any new recordings for the Christmas shows or 20th anniversary of Merry Christmas. I'm ready for new Christmas music from Mariah! Hoping for a surprise. I love both Christmas albums so much.

I remember she was working on a MCIIY re-release for 2011, I remember her saying she had been in the studio with Big Jim recording a couple of holiday standards for the re-release, but nothing came of it it seems. I'd rank MC above MCIIY personally, but MCIIY is fantastic as well. A+++

Ugh, it's things like this that make me wanna run out and buy a laptop with a CD drive. I love actually being able to buy albums, plus most are way cheaper than digital downloads these days.
