Her backing singers were there and rehearsed, her group of child dancers were there and rehearsed, her fans were there and literally standing on ice for 5 hours to see her. It would take something pretty major to make that acceptable.

Seriously though, those kids really worked their little asses off in the freezing cold and rain, like true professionals, past their bedtime. Let them perform their routine to the backing track tomorrow like they did tonight. No one will know the difference except the people who were there tonight anyway. |

Hopefully she can do a free show to make up for the cancellation or somehow perform live tomorrow during the lighting ceremony. I'm guessing she couldn't perform in the freezing rain?

Several people saw her sitting in her car and waving at people. I wonder if the network cancelled because of the weather but she performed in colder weather with no tent and no coat in 2012 so idk. |

I'm not saying this to defend her (I agree that having all those people waiting in the cold and rain for hours only for her to not come out in the end is absurd), BUT considering she performed in the rain several times on her tour last month, there has to be a major reason for the cancellation of her performance.

Well I've slept, I can finally feel my feet again and I can never stay mad at Mariah for too long...!
I personally think (and this is just my opinion) that the delay went on for so long that it reached the point that NBC had to cancel the performance and send everyone home. I saw a member of the crew talking to the black British guy from Mariah' team (I completely forget his name this morning?! Is it Micheal?!!) outside the plaza and he was explaining that the crew all had to be back in at 6am to start all over again. It sounded like he was explaining to Mariah's team why they had to send everyone home.

I legit just sat here and stared at that gif for, like, 5 minutes. Love it. So has NBC said anything about whether or not she'll still be performing? Maybe they'll film her performance this evening before the show starts? Or maybe she'll perform live? What a mess. |

I've just uploaded a short clip of the children dancers that I took during the rehearsal. Unfortunately I could get them all in as there were lot of people on stage around them. The whole routine was great though, especially the end (which annoyingly I didn't record) where each child took turns to go into the middle of the stage and bust a move  They were so energetic and their outfits were so cute! |

Oh Lord, is not like people paid for those tickets or were force to stay there under the cold rainy weather. They were taping a show, sh!t happens, move on, its not the end of the world. Is not a Mariah show its an NBC show, they are as much responsible, if not more than she is. We don't know what the hell happened. Maybe she didn't feel safe to perform in those conditions, maybe one of her kids got sick and she needed to go, who knows? What I do know is this is not like her to just not do a show. I don't think she's ever done that.

Divorce Talk Derails NBC Tree Lighting Performance
Mariah Carey was so consumed with divorce talk Tuesday evening ... she blew off her scheduled taped performance for the Rockefeller Center tree lighting ceremony ... and when she finally showed up the pissed off NBC honchos sent her packing.
Carey was supposed to tape a segment for the live show that airs Wednesday night. But as fans waited for hours in the rainy, cold night , there was no Mariah in sight.
People connected to the hotel tell us ... Mariah was ensconced in her East Side hotel, yacking with her lawyer on the phone about her divorce. People who overheard her say it did not seem nasty ... she was going over the property settlement.
When she pulled up to Rockefeller Center more than 3 hours late, she was still on the phone and people overheard her continuing to talk divorce.
NBC execs were full on enraged -- ditto the crew -- and Mariah's people were told to just go home. We're told she really wanted to perform, but the network had clearly had enough.
We're told Mariah was upset because she didn't want to disappoint her fans or the network.
Calls to Mariah's rep were not returned.

She really needs someone to put her behavior in check. The diva personality is fun sometimes, but it'd be nice to see her treat people respectfully, dress appropriately for the occasion, actually care about her public persona.

I honestly think I play MCIIY more. Christmas Time Is In The Air Again is EVERYTHING. Me too! I thought I was the only one. And "Christmas Time Is in the Air Again" is truly amazing. I also love "When Christmas Comes". I didn't like "One Child" before but I love that song now. And don't even get me started on the "Born Is The King" interlude. I like "One Child" from that DC performance better. The choir was much better. |

What channel were the World Music Awards supposed to be on?
Wasn't Mariah extremely late then and the show had to be cancelled for some countries and rescheduled for other's.
These delays probably cost them a lot of money so I can see why NBC would be so aggravated with her and her crew.
Hopefully for her this goes under the radar. I don't think she was the biggest ratings draw there so maybe many people won't notice.

I think people will notice, but NBC will do its best not to draw attention to her absence (although at least on this morning's local NBC news channel in NY, they said the tree lighting would include performances by Mariah Carey ) |

They just didn't get a feed to air allegedly. According to reports the whole show was a mess, from Sharon Stone dropping out the day before from hosting duties because she didn't get pay allegedly, to scheduled performers no showing up at all the day of the taping allegedly, and yes, to Mariah showing up late allegedly. |
