Eminem's "The Marshall Mathers LP 2," Drake's "Nothing Was The Same" and Beyonce's self-titled album lead the way on the Billboard Top 200 albums chart.

This week, several of the top artists in Hip Hop experienced a boost in sales. Beyonce's self-titled album, Eminem's The Marshall Mathers LP 2 and Drake's Nothing Was The Same led the pack as each of these project earned an increase in sales. Here's a breakdown of how each album was able to bounce back from losses last week.

Beyonce's Self-Titled Album Bounces Back To #4

Beyonce's self-titled album, which has been available for 10 weeks, had a sales boost this week compared to her previous week. Last week, Beyonce's self-titled project sold 36,468 units overall. It also suffered a 20 percent drop from its previous week's sales. This week, the album moved from #7 back to #4 on the charts. It sold 48,405 copies this week, showing 26 percent growth and this helped the album's sales totals move to 1,755,208 units sold overall. On February 14, Beyonce released "Drunk In Love (Remix)," a remix to her original selection which features Kanye West.

Eminem's The Marshall Mathers LP 2 Jumps Up To #12

Another artist who experienced growth in sales this week was Eminem. The Shady rapper's The Marshall Mathers LP 2, which has been available for 15 weeks, experienced a 14 percent increase from last week's 22,227 units moved to this week's 25,423 copies sold. As a result, Eminem's MMLP2 has the #12 spot this week, an improvement from last week's #13 placement. Overall, this album has sold 1,939,090 copies. Yesterday (February 18), it was announced that Eminem is set to cover XXL's April/May issue alongside Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine. To view the cover, click here.

Drake's Nothing Was The Same Has 66 Percent Growth In Sales

Between Beyonce, Eminem and Drake, Drake experienced the greatest sales gains from his previews week's figures. Drake's Nothing Was The Same, which has been available for 21 weeks, sold 20,140 units this week, a 66 percent improvement from last week's 12,143. This helped the Toronto rapper's album jump from #24 to #16 on the chart. Overall, Drake's Nothing Was The Same has sold 1,464,825 units. Yesterday (February 18), it was announced that Drake and OutKast are scheduled to co-headline Drake's OVO Fest for 2014. To view more regarding this show, click here.

Eric Church Scores Second No. 1 Album With 'The Outsiders'

Eric Church's "The Outsiders" easily debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, selling 288,000 in its first week (ending Feb. 16), according to Nielsen SoundScan.

It's the largest sales week of the year, and the biggest since Beyonce's self-titled album sold 310,000 in its second week of release (last December). It's also by far Church's best frame ever.

"The Outsiders" is Church's fourth studio album and second No. 1 set, following his last studio effort, 2011's "Chief." The latter bowed with 145,000—his previous best sales week. (In between "Chief" and "The Outsiders," Church released the live album "Caught in the Act: Live," which debuted and peaked at No. 5.)

"The Outsiders" also logs the biggest week for a country album since Luke Bryan's "Crash My Party" debuted at No. 1 with 528,000 on the chart dated Aug. 31, 2013.

Church's new set is the only new arrival on the top 10 of the Billboard 200 this week. The next-highest debut belongs to The Glitch Mob's second album, "Love Death Immortality," at No. 13 with 22,000. It's the electronic act's best week yet and its first appearance on the Billboard 200. It previously reached No. 39 on the Heatseekers Albums chart with its first album, 2010's "Drink the Sea."

Back in the top 10, the "Frozen" soundtrack holds steady at No. 2, but gains by 13%, selling 100,000 copies for the week. It's the first time the set has surpassed 100,000 in weekly sales since the sales week that ended Jan. 5 (165,000). And with another 100,000 sold this past week, cumulative sales for “Frozen” surpass 1 million. It's the first soundtrack to sell 1 million copies since "Pitch Perfect" in the week ending Dec. 29, 2013. The two albums are the first million-selling theatrical film soundtracks since "Michael Jackson's This Is It" moved 1 million in December 2009.

The "Now 49" compilation falls from No. 1 to No. 3 in its second week, selling 77,000 (down 21%). Beyonce's self-titled album rises 7-4 with a little more than 48,000 (up 26%) in the wake of Valentine's Day gift shopping. Many albums on the chart profit from the holiday, including Imagine Dragons' "Night Visions" (12-6 with 41,000; up 77%). "Night Visions" was also sale-priced in the iTunes Store for $6.99, which helps tremendously with its sales this week. This is the highest chart rank for the album since the Aug. 3, 2013, chart.

Bruno Mars' "Unorthodox Jukebox" slips 3-5 with 48,000 (down 41%), and Lorde's "Pure Heroine" climbs 8-7 with 39,000 (up 9%). Toni Braxton & Babyface's "Love, Marriage & Divorce" descends 4-8 in its second week (33,000; down 51%), and Katy Perry's "PRISM" rises 10-9 with 31,000 (up 19%). Miley Cyrus' "Bangerz" jumps 18-10 with 29,000 (up 96%). It also profits from $6.99 sale pricing in the iTunes Store.

Overall album sales in this past chart week (ending Feb. 16) totaled 5.4 million units, up 20% compared with the sum last week (4.5 million) and down 21% compared with the comparable sales week of 2013 (6.8 million). Year-to-date album sales stand at 32.9 million,down 16% compared with the same total at this point last year (39.1 million).

Next week's Billboard 200 competes with the same week in 2013 when: Mumford & Sons' "Babel" held at No. 1, selling 63,000 (down 66%), while Bruno Mars' "Unorthodox Jukebox" rose 3-2 with 48,000 (down 44%). The highest debut was Buckcherry's "Confessions" at No. 20, with 18,000.

I think those are the sales of the 2006 special edition soundtrack only.

I think those are the sales of the 2006 special edition soundtrack only.

It's certified 6xPlatinum!!!

These are sales from 1991 forward. The bulk of sales come from the 1998 re-release.

I'm surprised Tarzan sold that many copies. I only know the one song by Phil Collins (You'll Be In My Heart) and even that wasn't a huge smash hit on the hot 100 by itself. How did the album sell so many copies?

The movie sold about 34 million tickets and was fairly music-driven (Collins did the whole soundtrack). The album-to-ticket sales ratio of 1:13.2 is about three times higher (in the albums direction) than Frozen's, but box office is stronger now and album sales were stronger then.

Chart Watch: Taylor Swift Is 4 For 4 (Million)

Taylor Swift's "Red" didn't win a thing at the Grammys or the Country Music Assn. Awards. But the album accomplishes something this week that makes up for those slights: It tops the 4 million mark in U.S. sales. All four of Swift's studio albums have reached that threshold. Swift's eponymous debut album has sold 5,419,000 copies since its release in 2006. "Fearless" has sold 6,818,000 copies since its release in 2008. "Speak Now" has sold 4,405,000 since its release in 2010.
Swift is just the third artist to top the 4M mark with his or her first four studio albums since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking music sales in 1991. She follows Garth Brooks (who did it with his first five non-holiday studio albums) and Eminem.

Swift's achievement is all the more remarkable because the album sales market has been shaky throughout her career. By contrast, it was strong when Brooks released his first album in 1989, and it was at its peak when Eminem released his first album in 1999.
A word of explanation: Brooks' first two studio albums were released before the start of the Nielsen SoundScan era, but they have each sold more than 4M copies since the meters were turned on in January 1991.

It's not just a coincidence that two of the three artists to have achieved this feat since 1991 have a strong country base. Country sells. This next item offers more proof of that.

Eric Church's "The Outsiders" sold 288K copies in its first week. That's the biggest one-week sales tally so far this year; the biggest for a country album since Luke Bryan's "Crash My Party" opened with sales of 528K in August. It's nearly twice the first-week sales of Church's previous album, "Chief," which sold 145K copies in its first week in July 2011.

"The Outsiders" enters The Billboard 200 at #1. "Chief" also debuted in the top spot. Church is just the third country male solo artist to top the big chart twice in the 2010s. He follows Bryan and Kenny Chesney.

"Chief" was Church's first album to sell more than 1 million copies. It is up to 1,702,000. In addition, it won the CMA award for Album of the Year. It also spawned Church's biggest hit to date, "Springsteen" (2,403,000).

"The Outsiders" sold 144K digital copies, which puts it at #1 on Top Digital Albums. ("Chief" sold 45K digital copies in its first week, when it, too, topped the digital chart.)

Incidentally, The Outsiders was the name of a pop/rock group which had a top five hit in 1966, "Time Won't Let Me." This isn't the first time that the title of a #1 album has been the same as the name of a once-prominent group. Just last fall, Katy Perry reached #1 with "PRISM." A Canadian rock group with that name had five Hot 100 singles and three charted albums in the late '70s and early '80s.

"Frozen" holds at #2 for the second straight week. The album tops the 1 million mark in U.S. sales in its 12th week. It's the first soundtrack to reach 1M this quickly since Michael Jackson's "Michael Jackson's This Is It," which did it in seven weeks in the closing weeks of 2009. Since that was such a special case (it's basically Michael Jackson's Greatest Hits), it's arguable that it shouldn't count as a soundtrack. If you don't count it, "Frozen" is the first soundtrack to hit 1M in 12 or fewer weeks since Miley Cyrus's "Hannah Montana: The Movie," which did it in 10 weeks in the spring of 2009.
"Frozen" is #1 on Top Soundtracks for the 12th week. The movie was in the top 10 at the box-office for the 12th weekend.

Imagine Dragons' "Night Visions" rebounds from #12 to #6 in its 76th week, boosted by a $6.99 iTunes sale. (The sale also boosted Miley Cyrus's "Bangerz" and Journey's "Journey's Greatest Hits," among others.) "Night Visions" tops the 2 million mark in U.S. sales this week. Three songs from the album (Radioactive," "Demons" and "It's Time") have sold a combined total of 12,857,000 copies.

Pharrell Williams's "Happy" moves up to #1 on Hot Digital Songs (329K), displacing "Dark Horse" by Katy Perry featuring Juicy J. Will it also move up to #1 on the Hot 100, or will it need another week to do that? You'll find out later today when we post my Songs blogs.

This is its 25th week in the top 10 … Lorde's "Pure Heroine" inches up from #8 to #7 in its 20th week (38K). This is its 15th week in the top 10 …Toni Braxton & Babyface's "Love, Marriage & Divorce" drops from #4 to #8 in its second week (33K) … Katy Perry's "PRISM" inches up from #10 to #9 in its 17th week (31K). This is its 16th week in the top 10 … Miley Cyrus's "Bangerz" rebounds from #18 to #10 in its 19th week (29K). This is its eighth week in the top 10.

Three albums drop out of the top 10 this week. Broken Bells's "After The Disco" drops from #5 to #30. Little Mix's "Salute" drops from #6 to #38. "2014 Grammy Nominees" drops from #9 to #11.

The Glitch Mob's second album, "Love Death Immortality," debuts at #13.

The Beatles' "1" jumps from #37 to #20 in its 161st chart week; its first full week following the initial airing of a TV special marking the 50th anniversary of the group's first appearance on "The Ed Sullivan Show." The album returns to #1 on Top Catalog Albums for the first time since September 2011. This is its 13th week on top of that chart … Another Beatles album, "Abbey Road," jumps from #119 to #82 in its 170thchart week. The album this week becomes the first album from the 1960s to top the 5 million mark in sales since 1991.

Crosses' "+++" debuts at #26 … Frankie Ballard's "Sunshine & Whiskey" debuts at #35 … Band Of Horses' "Acoustic At The Ryman" debuts at #37. It's among the most successful albums recorded at the historic Nashville auditorium. Levon Helm's "Ramble At The Ryman" peaked at #144 in 2011. Emmylou Harris & the Nash Ramblers' "At The Ryman" reached #174 in 1992.
"The LEGO Movie: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack" jumps from #48 to #45 in its second week. The movie was #1 at the box-office for the second straight weekend.

The "Wicked" Original Broadway Cast Recording vaults from #180 to #66 in its 100th chart week. The 2003 album this week becomes the first original cast album to top the 500K mark in digital sales. The album has sold 2,439,000 copies overall (digital and CDs combined).
Metallica's "Through The Never" is #1 on Top Music Videos for the third straight week. It sold 8K copies this week, bringing its four-week total to 46K.

Coming Attractions: Cole Swindell's "Cole Swindell" is expected to be next week's top new entry. Also due: Phantogram's "Voices" and Candice Glover’s "Music Speaks.

Eric Church Debuts with nearly 300,000 copies of The Outsiders sold. Frankie Ballard debuts #5 with Sunshine & Whiskey.

It’s a banner week for Eric Church as The Outsiders outsells every other record in the USA this week with 288k copies of the album in the hands of fans, nearly doubling the first week of his previous release, Chief. Valentines Day helped most of the Top 10 this week with Here’s To The Good Times gaining 7,000 copies over last week’s 14k to sell 21k this week. Luke Bryan’s “Crash My Party” has now sold 1.653 million copies and sits at #3 this week. Jennifer Nettles’ That Girl is at #4 and has sold 113k to date without any really big hits as of yet. Finally, Warner’s Frankie Ballard rounds out the Top 5 with Sunshine & Whiskey. The album moved 11k in its debut week.

Garth Brooks’ Blame It All On My Roots has sold nearly 850k copies and leads the #6-#10 half of the Top 10 albums this week.

Garth Brooks sits at #6 with his Walmart exclusive Blame It All On My Roots. He’s now sold 847k of the box set. Kacey Musgraves is at #7 with the Grammy-winning Same Trailer Different Park while Blake Shelton’s up 47% and to #8 with Based On A True Story. Jason Aldean is at #9 with Night Train while Now Country Ballads Volume 2 rounds out the Top 10.

Thomas Rhett, Scotty McCreery, Cassadee Pope, and Danielle Bradbery lead the notable albums this week.

Eric Church’s prevous 4 albums were bundled into Thomas Rhett is a rising star and has sold 127k copies of his debut album It Goes Like This while new single “Get Me Some Of That” rises the charts. Scotty McCreery’s See You Tonight has surpassed the 200k mark (it’s at 202k) the same week he breaks the Top 10 on the radio airplay charts with the album’s title track. MEanwhile Cassadee Pope’s album is up 47% this week with sales of 3k to bring totals to 158k. Finally, Danielle Bradbery has moved 118k of hr strong new album.

Swift is just the third artist to top the 4M mark with his or her first four studio albums since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking music sales in 1991. She follows Garth Brooks (who did it with his first five non-holiday studio albums) and Eminem.

why is everything about "since soundscan"?
Madonna's first 4 are at 4 million and I'm sure other artists also.

That is the beginning of when "accurate" records were kept, or at least when they could put an actual number to an album. Soundscan tallies are automatic, RIAA certs are more of a manual process and thus less accurate.

Yeah, I get all that, but I don't like the fact that stats are are basically taken away from older albums/artists.

The RIAA multi-platinum award wasn't created until Oct. 1984.

The Beatles' first four albums could have all gone 4xp in the 1960s, but they weren't certified 2xp or more until 1991.

The platinum award was not created until 1976. The first country female to receive that award was Crystal Gayle for We Must Believe In Magic (1977-contains her biggest country and crossover hit, Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue). It has been reported that Tammy Wynette did it before Gayle, but was not officially recognized for the achievement.

What triple platinum award are you talking about for Hunter Hayes? I know Wanted is three times platinum. And the Jake Owen gold award. What is that about? His CD is not selling very well.
