This is EXACTLY why this new formula doesn't work. Nobody watched that video because of the song, they watched it because they wanted to see strangers kissing. The song just happened to be playing in the background. Exactly. Thrift Shop was the most popular song for 11 weeks last year, yet it only got 6 weeks at #1. Can't stress that enough.

"We asked 20 strangers to kiss for the first time," the company confirmed on Twitter the day of the video's release. "Tomorrow" was chosen for the clip by Wren's founder and creative director Melissa Coker. "I wanted to create something that was pure, authentic and full of emotion for the Wren Fall 2014 campaign," Coker wrote in an email to Billboard. "When casting the video, I reached out to the most dynamic, charming and inspiring people I know in LA, including Soko. Soko first released a video for "Tomorrow" on May 25, 2012. The track originally appeared on her debut album, "I Thought I Was an Alien," which was first released in January 2013. After the sudden rise of the "Kiss" clip, the set sold 1,000 units in the week ending March 16, from a negligible amount during the previous tracking frame, according to Nielsen SoundScan. "Tomorrow" bows on the Hot 100 with 96 percent of its points from streaming. It also sold 10,000 downloads in the week ending March 16, up, like its parent album, from a minuscule amount the prior week. Even at HS's peak when it sold like 300k and was #2...it didn't deserve to be #1 because those 100 million views were not for the song itself, but for the dance meme (again I can't stress this enough).

If only that happened a couple months ago so CS could've gotten at least 1 week at #1 :( DW The Man will still get higher haha, I think it will get at least to #7 (it's like #5 or #6 on iTunes and it's climbing on radio too)

I wonder how they decide which commercial is eligible and which isnt. The Puppy commercial featuring the song Let Her Go by passenger didn't count but this commercial where everyone is talking over the song does? I actually watched this video days ago and I actually didn't even notice the song playing in the background.

So were all psycho music fans, and billboard is saying that that song, which none of us knew, is a bigger hit than The Man this week. It's the 9th biggest song in the country. Ridiculous.

I think the song is a factor, rather than a video of people kissing and oh by the way there is a song attached to it.

Whatever song they chose they still would have gotten the same amount of views. Unless it was a death metal song. Song chosen doesn't matter as long as it was slow and fit the mood. I bet even without a song it would have gotten that many views. That's how incidental the music is to the point of the video
