Frankie's update really stood out to me too today. I'm partly wondering if it's CMA related - the other artists at the top of the chart all had a presence last night, and I don't know if he was even there. But then Maddie & Tae had a great update, so who knows. I'd be concerned if it happens again tomorrow, but as a one-off, I don't think it's a huge deal. He was there. He and Chase Bryant wore the same colored suits.

The song is Gold. Fans like it and Frankie's done pretty well for himself after the non-starter that was his self-titled debut (which his label is quick to ignore). He probably could release "Tell Me You Get Lonely" again and it'd be a Top 10 or better hit this time around. That being said, I expect a song like "Young & Crazy" or "I'm Thinking Country" will get released as the follow-up single when this has run its course though the great "Don't You Wanna Fall" would be an awesome choice too (It's a Travis Meadows co-write, the guy who wrote "Riser" and "What We Ain't Got"). I don't think they'll go with "Drinky Drink" as lots of programmers are backing away from too many songs with booze or drinking in the title and he's obviously got one of those already with this tune (It's the same reason why I don't think "Don't Tell Mama" will get released, even though he's turned it into a midtempo, Seger-like tune).

I just realized how much he sounds like Uncle Kracker on this one.
Also glad to see a country hitmaker from my state again.

I'm for one pulling for "Don't Tell Mama" as I've always wanted to see what that song can do on the radio, but I can understand them choosing differently. Back in June when I talked to Marcel he told me that "I'm Thinking Country" was slated to be the 3rd single. He said he knew it could change but it was supposed to be the first single and then the second so it's probably high in the running for 3rd.

"I'm Thinking Country" would be decent, it has a unique sound to it. My choice would be either "Tell Me You Get Lonely", "Sober Me Up" or "Tip Jar". Honestly they can't go too wrong with the next choice, the album is pretty radio friendly.

Especially if they're hoping to continue the chances for Gold-certifications like the previous songs achieved (his album won't even get close to that).

I can see "Young & Crazy" being the next single, although I wouldn't be surprised to see Frankie Ballard's third single be a very slow burner, much like Joe Nichols' third single from Crickets.

I'd like either "Young & Crazy" or "Don't Tell Mama" next, but I'd be ok with almost anything from the album getting released.

^S & W has gained 135 spins total in the past seven days on Mediabase, but yesterday/in today's update the single lost 105 spins. I don't usually discuss day-to-day updates, but this is a peculiarly large loss for one day, especially for a single that's been steadily climbing through the top 10 with no signs of struggling. Frankie Ballard will finish no less than #2 if Sam Hunt falls below him next week. Got that one right. Now can Frankie Ballard hold off two Capitol artists (Little Big Town and Keith Urban) and claim a #1 next week (on the airplay chart)?

This gets my vote for the quietest #1 single of 2014. There's been no buzz surrounding this song and for some reason, it seems like I haven't heard this as much as I should for a song that is about to hit the top (though "My Eyes" came and went fairly quick as well).
It's nice to see Frankie get success though after the long layoff he had after "A Bucha Girls" peaked. I remember Frankie did an interview with The Highway on Sirius/XM, and he was going on and on about how he used to shovel two feet of snow back in Michigan for those days school was canceled and was criticizing Tennessee for whining about getting a couple inches. Ever since then, I've liked him even more.

Any word on a 3rd single yet? Hoping for "Tip Jar", "Sober Me Up" or a re-release of "Tell Me You Get Lonely".
