I am hoping Randy Travis in 2015 or even 2016 on the 30th anniversary of him breaking out with his album Storms Of Life which has his big hit "On The Other Hand".

I just relized I didn't put my own predictions. lol
There's plenty of well deserving artists vying for a chance to make it in, and then there's industry people who they also put in. My list will be just performer based or even more specifically just those who sing cause my knowledge of intrumentalists and songwriters while decent is not near good enough to make educated guesses on who'll be admitted into the hall.
So with that out of the way here's who I think are the 20 most likely to get in next. (1 being best chance.)
01. Randy Travis 02. June Carter Cash 03. Tanya Tucker
04. Alan Jackson 05. Jerry Lee Lewis 06. Nitty Gritty Dirt Band 07. Skeeter Davis 08. Charlie Rich 09. Crystal Gayle 10. Wanda Jackson 11. The Judds 12. Lynn Anderson 13. Johnny Paycheck 14. Tim McGraw 15. Brooks & Dunn
16. Charlie Daniels 17. Dwight Yoakam
18. Dottie West 19. Jessi Colter
20. Oak Ridge Boys
If I were to list the top 20 male, female and groups it'd go like this
Male
01. Randy Travis
02. Alan Jackson 03. Jerry Lee Lewis 04. Charlie Rich 05. Johnny Paycheck 06. Tim McGraw
07. Charlie Daniels 08. Dwight Yoakam 09. Vern Gosdin
10. Jerry Reed
11. Ricky Skaggs 12. Kenny Chesney 13. Toby Keith 14. Moe Bandy 15. David Houston 16. Clint Black 17. John Anderson 18. Steve Wariner 19. Mickey Gilley 20. David Allan Coe
Female 01. June Carter Cash 02. Tanya Tucker 03. Skeeter Davis 04. Crystal Gayle 05. Wanda Jackson 06. Lynn Anderson
07. Dottie West 08. Jessi Colter 09. Sammi Smith 10. Matrina McBride 11. Anne Murray 12. Rosanne Cash 13. Donna Fargo 14. Linda Ronstadt 15. Kathy Mattea 16. Jan Howard 17. Matraca Berg 18. K.T. Oslin 19. Patty Loveless 20. Jeannie C. Riley
Group or Duo 01. Nitty Gritty Dirt Band 02. The Judds 03. Brooks & Dunn
04. The Oak Ridge Boys 05. The Bellamy Brothers 06. The Osbourne Brothers 07. Diamond Rio 08. Larry Gatlin & Bros. 09. Alison Krauss & Union Station 09. The Wilburn Brothers 10. Asleep At tHe Wheel 11. The Kendalls 12. Diamond Rio 13. Lonestar 14. Restless Heart 15. Desert Rose Band 16. The Mavericks 17. Exile 18. The Forester Sisters 19. Sweethearts Of The Rodeo 20. Sawyer Brown
All 60 of those artists are artists I think will eventually make their way into the Hall and out of all the eligible candidates I think these are the most likely* to get in. (in their respective categories, there's about another 30 men I'd put ahead of most of the group category)
The most exciting part for me when making these lists was that a lot of the 90's hit makers are now becoming eligible. I think in the next 5 years we'll see one of them enter into the hall as Garth Brooks is already in and he started in 1989. I think the most likely to do it will be Tim McGraw as he's easily the biggest name to come out of the 90's. Martina McBride could also do it if they feel like trying to up the female member count and want to add a 90's artist at the same time. My prediction is one of those two will be the first.

Good read. I'm not sure who is actually likely to be next, but personally the artists who aren't in that I would most like to see get in (and have a realistic chance) are (in no particular order) Alan Jackson, Randy Travis, Patty Loveless, Ricky Skaggs, Marty Stuart, Dwight Yoakam, John Anderson, Tanya Tucker, Rosanne Cash, Vern Gosdin, Johnny Paycheck, Pam Tillis, and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.
When it comes to songwriters, I would love to see Bob McDill make it in.

When it comes to songwriters, I would love to see Bob McDill make it in. Yes definatley to Bob McDill. Like I said I know a lot of songwriters I want to see get in but I didn't feel as confident in listing anybody because there's such a large pool of songwriters who haven't made it in. I'm sure Dean Dillon is another who's likely to get in in the future and I'd love to see it happen for him. I included Matraca Berg among the top 20 females not for her recording career which did produce some great music but pales in comparison to her work as a songwriter. I can see her making it into the hall ahead of some females that had better recording careers as hit makers but lacked in other areas she excelled at. Gary Nicholson is another who's scored a lot of cuts and hits but never was really a hitmaker himself. I think he also has a chance at the Hall someday but because the Male field is much stronger I think he'll have a longer wait. One name I was reluctant to put on the list was David Allan Coe because he was always a controversial figure, but I think he's earned his place in the Hall regardless. He'd be much higher if he wasn't so controversial. One name you mentioned that I didn't was Marty Stuart. I'd love to see him get in soon as well, especially if his wife Connie can see it happen too. His love for country music is one of the strongest I've ever seen and I'd like to think that his slightly weaker status as a hit maker won't hinder his entry into the hall. It'd be a shame for him to not get in before he passes as I'm sure he'd appreciate it more than almost any I can think of. One last thing I was thinking while looking at the list of who's in and who could potentially be in is that other than group members there's no solo siblings or parent/child relations among the current members. I'm wondering if Hank Jr., Rosanne Cash will be the first to do the parent/child one. Sibling wise I think Crystal Gayle will be the first. There's other's who could do it but she's easily the most likely.

Interesting topic. I'll make a more comprehensive post when I'm on my computer and not my phone, but I think out of all the current artists, Alan Jackson is the most likely to get in next. Given his recent health situation, Randy Travis might get in ahead of Alan, but his personal life is probably working against him as well (much like Lynn Anderson, who I suspect would have been in already otherwise).

With Ronnie Milsap finally being inducted, Alan Jackson is the only person in the Top 10 of all time #1's that isn't in. Alan has 26 #1's on Billboard.

If you were to check my thread, The Most #1s, it's there. Here is the top ten: This is a list of ALL country artists to score at LEAST five #1 hits. H.O.F.-hall of fame artist. A.O.D.-artist of the decade recipient. 1. GEORGE STRAIT-44-1982-2009-HOF-AOD (2000s)(has the most #1s between 2006-present)(the #1 artist of the 1990s)(had the most #1s during the 1990s with 17) 2. Conway Twitty-40-1968-1986-HOF (had the most #1s between 1980-2006)(the #1 artist of the 1970s)(had the most #1s during the 1970s with 25) 3. Merle Haggard-38-1967-1988-HOF 4. Ronnie Milsap-35-1974-1989-HOF 5. Alabama-33-1980-2011-HOF-AOD (1980s)(had the most #1s during the 1980s with 26) 6. Charley Pride-29-1969-1983-HOF 7. Eddy Arnold-28-1947-1968-HOF (had the most #1s between 1948-1980)(the #1 artist of the 1940s)(had the most #1s during the 1940s with 11) 8. Alan Jackson-26-1991-2010 9. I believe it was about 10 years ago they had a massive induction and quite a few people went in at once. They really need to do that again to do some catching up. Some of these legendary names going 50 years is just sad that they aren't in yet. It is a joke that they didn't induct Kenny Rogers a decade ago, at least! He finally made it! June Carter Cash isn't in it? Really?

It'd speed things up for a few of the older artists who may not live to see themselves inducted. I feel bad for all those who should've been in before their passing. Jack Greene being the most recent. :( And yes I think it's a crime that June Carter Cash isn't in there yet, hopefully next year.

I'll try a list of the next performers to get in (I'll leave it to just performers, since I admit I don't know quite enough about musicians/songwriters to make all that accurate of predictions).
Here's who I think the next few will be(in order of likelihood):
1. Alan Jackson 2. June Carter Cash 3. Crystal Gayle 4. The Judds 5. Randy Travis 6. Tanya Tucker 7. Jerry Lee Lewis 8. Charlie Rich 9. Brooks & Dunn 10. Charlie Daniels 11. Linda Ronstadt 12. Skeeter Davis 13. Johnny Paycheck 14. Roseanne Cash 15. Anne Murray 16. Dottie West 17. Lynn Anderson 18. Wanda Jackson 19. Ricky Skaggs 20. Tim McGraw
I'm expecting Alan to get in next year. It seems that they're alternating more current artists with more throwback artists (not excatly, but kind of), so I think they'll go for someone more contemporary next year.

Theres rumors that another mass induction is coming in the next year or two. Theres so many artists that I want to see in there SOON, including Tanya Tucker, Hank Jr , Gene Watson, Alan Jackson Keith Whitley , Vern Gosdin & Randy Travis. But before them , Its a gross oversight that Johnny Horton isnt in. The mans been dead for 54 years and had some blockbuster hits .

I'm just looking over the list again of people who've already made it in and I'm wondering is Hank Snow the only Canadian in there? If there's another I didn't realize that they are Canadian. If he is the only one who do you think will be the second? Anne Murray or Shania Twain? Also is there anybody in from any other countries? I'm not familiar with where all the artists/industry folk are from originally. Also yes to Uncle Lumpy . Johnny Horton definatley deserves to be in there by now, I actually think I missed him in my original look at who's missing.

Some have speculated Horton hasnt gotten in because of politics that he shunned WSM & the Grand Ole Opry in favor of the Louisianna Hayride. Which is pretty digusting if true. Also , I wouldnt discount Marty Stuart getting in sooner than later. Im not sure if hes still involved but Marty has been very involved with the HOF over the years.

With Alan Jackson's exhibit opening soon, I'm really thinking that he'll get in next year. Maybe not, but the timing would be perfect.

Hi,
I didn't see a previous thread about this, so please delete if I'm duplicating something.
But I'm wondering who you all think should be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame, or made a member of the Opry.
Are there any glaring omissions or notable people you think should be inducted?
In my opinion, one of the biggest omissions from both the Opry and the HOF is Crystal Gayle. She's had 18 number one hits, was the first female country act to score a platinum record, and she helped to define country music in the 1970s and 80s.
What do you think?

I think Crystal Gayle will definitely make the Hall of Fame eventually!!
The most glaring Opry omissions I can think of right now are George Strait and Sara Evans... I think at this point George has probably made the personal decision not to join the Opry for some reason. But I have no idea why Sara isn't in! She performs there fairly frequently, and seems to be an avid supporter towards it whenever she talks about it!
As far as HOF goes, I am not very familiar with who has/hasn't been admitted yet from the '80s or earlier... But I think within the next 10-20 years or so we will start seeing an influx of '90s stars being admitted. Alan Jackson is definitely a front-runner according to popular opinion, which I agree with. I am willing to bet that Tim McGraw will be one of the first true '90s stars to make it though. Kenny Chesney should have no problem as well when it is all said and done. Same with Brad Paisley, and maybe Rascal Flatts. Oh, also Toby Keith and Brooks & Dunn! As far as females go, I bet Martina will make it eventually, and probably Faith Hill (Faith might make it first because she made a bigger impact at her peak). And I would be shocked if Shania didn't make it. Also, maaaaaybe the Dixie Chicks will make it, but only time will tell.
But there are certainly people who are a lot more educated about these things than I am!

George Strait has opted out of the Opry due to the time commitment. Pete Fisher has approached him a number of times over the years about joining the Port, and he's said no each time.

In terms of the Hall of Fame, the 'modern' artist who is the most glaring omission is, to me, Alan Jackson. I thought he was going to get in last year, and was surprised when he didn't. He's still my bet to get inducted this year, as well. We had a thread on this earlier...I'll see if I can find it. Edit: pulsemusic.proboards.com/thread/139670/country-music-hall-fameThat's the link to it. It has been designated an 'old thread', so discussion should probably stay here, but that's the link for reference to previous discussion.

That's the link to it. It has been designated an 'old thread', so discussion should probably stay here, but that's the link for reference to previous discussion. It's fine if we bump old threads in the sub-forum. The "this thread is more than 180 days old" designation is mainly put on threads for singles that peaked long ago (and therefore shouldn't be bumped). So I went ahead and merged these two HoF threads :) Thanks for linking to the previous thread, and thanks for tagging me, onebuffalo.

So, Randy Travis is the modern artist this year. While he is deserving for sure, I can't help but think that Alan Jackson has been really overlooked the last 2-3 years. I would think that he would be due to be 'next' now, but I wonder if he and Randy are too similar types of artists (traditional solo male singer/songwriters who broke out in the mid-late 80s) to be inducted in back to back years.

I'm just sad because Tanya Tucker is now going to be considered a "veteran" and that category is much more backed up so she may not get in for a while now. :(
Happy with the inductions this year as I think they're all deserving but I think Charlie Daniels is a little early but I'm glad he'll be able to see himself inducted!

Charlie Daniels a little early? His first album came out in 1971 and he charted for the first time in 1973. I think that's right. Puts him in the same time frame as Tanya Tucker. Who knows, maybe she'll get in next year.

It's that time of year again - this year's inductees will be named next week. Any predictions?
I'm going to once again predict that Alan Jackson gets chosen as the modern era artist. I'd love to see Tanya Tucker get in as the veteran, but it'll be tough.
