With new music, a new documentary, and a few more veterans out of the way, 2023 might actually end up being Tanya's year.

Either 2021 should have been Tanya Tucker's year because it was the 50th anniversary of her signing to Columbia Records or this year because it was the 50th anniversary of Delta Dawn being released. I hope you're right about next year.

Either 2021 should have been Tanya Tucker's year because it was the 50th anniversary of her signing to Columbia Records or this year because it was the 50th anniversary of Delta Dawn being released. I hope you're right about next year. Well, now with Jerry Lee in, Tanya has to be at the top, or at the very least near the top. Maddox Brothers & Stanley Brothers should get in at some point, but they seem very old for the artists currently getting voted in. Linda & Gram may get held back based on questioning of their genres. Paycheck & Coe are too controversial. Maybe Crystal & Lynn, but I struggle to see another woman go in before Tanya. Going based on the information that is known so far, the only other artist that I could see going in for 2023 is Larry Gatlin & The Gatlin Brothers, because they are apparently around the Nashville area (meaning the voters) a lot. That is what happened with Ray Stevens. But as we all know, the Hall Of Fame could go in any possible direction.

If it’s a woman in the veteran category this next group it’s either Tanya or Crystal. I wish Crystal had got in while Loretta was here to see.
Lynn Anderson I feel would’ve been I. If she hadn’t passed away. I felt like she was near the top for a few years and was working her connections. Now that she’s passed it feels like there isn’t as big of a push.

That is exactly the reason I was hoping for Crystal over the last few years. Not because she is more deserving, but because I wanted Loretta to be here to see it.

I could see Shania going in soon. She’s right in line with Alan, George, B&D all being huge in the 90’s. She’s the best selling female country artist of all time and “Come On Over” is the biggest selling country album ever.

Shania is definitely deserving; it is going to be very exciting to see what order they start inducting the '90s breakout stars! I could honestly see an argument for Martina to get in before Shania due to a combination of longevity and her being the obvious industry darling of the '90s women. Even to this day, she presents at nearly every award show, performs at or attends nearly every tribute show, plays at the Opry regularly, is asked to join huge tours (like Blake and Wynonna within the past year), and a significant chunk of the modern country music scene funnels their new music through her recording studio. At the end of the day, she is going to finish her career comfortably higher on the Whitburn points list than any of her peers. Shania by comparison was bigger at her peak, but had much less longevity. She has raised her profile significantly by becoming active again with things like her Vegas residency and new documentary. But imo she just feels like much less of a "Nashville Insider". I could see Martina and maybe even Trisha getting in before her for that reason. It depends on what the voters consider more heavily between "peak success" and "ongoing influence". Of course I could be wrong!! I'm super excited for all of them to make it I still think Tim McGraw might be before any of them though, as the size of his career is just undeniable...

It will be interesting to see what order they do the 90's stars in, because there are a bunch of directions they could go. (They should put in Dwight right before they go into the 90's stars, but that's a side point). Of the women, I think they may lean towards Trisha first. But they could also kick off the 90's with Toby, because of his cancer fight. It's tough to determine where the modern category is going this year.

I was thinking Clint black next. As far as the females I’m hoping for Crystal. I think since it’s taking along time for Tanya and Crystal. Shania might have to wait a while.

I feel like Patty Loveless could be high in the conversation in the coming years too.
Kenny Chesney probably will factor in as well.
Modern contenders for the next few years I think will be
Dwight Yoakam Patty Loveless Martina McBride Tim McGraw Kenny Chesney Clint Black Travis Tritt Trisha Yearwood Shania Twain Toby Keith
I think most of the 80’s stars are going to have to wait for their turn in the veteran category. So like John Anderson, Roseann Cash, Janie Fricke Earl Thomas Conley, etc.
I am wondering how someone like Mary Chaplin Carpenter will be received. Very successful but never feels like someone we consider a strong contender.
I do hope Roseann Cash gets in soon though. Her work has always been exquisite and the activism she’s done over the years should be rewarded too.

It’s hard because they should change the era format and bring it back to when they add as many as they wanted. so there’d be no limit. Those artists you mention are good choices. I would’ve added Faith Hill to your list .

However we’ve had artists like Marty Stuart or Vince Gill probably get in earlier than their music career would suggest due to their support of CMA and the Hall of Fame specifically. I would just hope the HoF voters would recognize how important her work outside of performing music has been.

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, they need to increase the number of people who get in every year (give people their flowers while they are living) besides I would hate to see some younger acts get in before older acts. Hmm, I just realized Tanya Tucker is not even inducted. Hmm

I feel like Patty Loveless could be high in the conversation in the coming years too. I hope so, and she should be! Maybe last night's CMA Awards performance will help. Loveless merits inclusion off her solo work alone, with hits like "Timber I'm Falling in Love," "You Can Feel Bad," "You Don't Even Know Who I Am," "Blame It On Your Heart," and "You Don't Seem to Miss Me." In addition to her hits, though, Mountain Soul is one of the best albums of all-time. I also think her stellar harmony work should be part of the HoF conversation, too; her supporting work on "When I Call Your Name," "Please Remember Me," and "Go Rest High on that Mountain" helped make those songs true classics.

I'm sure her getting out and in front of the right people would certainly help her chances at getting in, though it still may be tough as the huge list of 90's acts are coming along and ready to come in. Plus, Dwight has a big case as an 80's artist to still get in. Plus, if Toby keeps looking frail from his cancer, then they might end up skipping him to the head of the line this coming year. He will be guaranteed a spot in the HOF at some point in the future, so they may just give it to him now. But yes, I hope Patty gets in soon. (She was my 2022 modern choice for my fictional HOF)

I hope we get a "catch-up" year very soon. There are so many late 80s-90s artists who should be in soon.
Tanya Tucker at the very least needs to be in ASAP.

So many names I want in!
Dwight and Tanya are who I'm going to guess will be named (Modern/Veteran), and I'll be happy with at least one of them getting it.
Would love for them to do a big group again though just to clear some of the backlog up!
