Edit: Kenny Rogers Dreamcatcher closed in 2004 so it definitely wasn't his. Where did you find this out? Google isn't helping any. Kenny's wiki page (so take it for what it's worth) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kenny_Rogers

The number 35 works in four ways with Conway Twitty's last #1, Desperado Love from 1986:
1. It was his 35th solo #1 hit (he has five more with Loretta Lynn). 2. It was the 35th #1 of 1986. 3. It hit #1 during the 35th week of 1986. 4. The American Country Countdown ranked it the 35th biggest hit of 1986.

Kind of going everywhere with this one.
*Shawn King released her album In My Own Backyard off Lofton Creek Records in 2005. She released two singles with "In My Own Backyard" and "Find Me". She is the wife of TV and radio host Larry King. Shawn is just 54 years old while her husband is 80.
*Toby Keith's single "Big Blue Note" debuted at #35 in the top 60 on R&R in early September of 2005. His next single "Get Drunk And Be Somebody" did the exact same thing with a debut of #35 in December of 2005.
*Sarah Johns' debut single "The One In The Middle" actually has two music videos. One is the standard, and the other is an explicit version with multiple middle fingers shown.
*Both "Never Wanted Nothing More" and "Don't Blink" by Kenny Chesney took just 8 weeks to hit #1. And both spent 5 weeks at #1 on Mediabase. That means he had two five week #1 singles in less than 6 months.
*Random Radio and Records Chart Week: 2/10/2006
1. Carrie Underwood - Jesus Take The Wheel 2. Brad Paisley f/Dolly Parton 3. Trace Adkins - Honky Tonk Badonkadonk 4. Faith Hill f/Tim McGraw - Like We Never Loved At All 5. Josh Turner - Your Man 6. Tim McGraw - My Old Friend 7. Sugarland - Just Might (Make Me Believe) 8. Keith Urban - Tonight I Wanna Cry 9. Rascal Flatts - What Hurts The Most 10. Kenny Chesney - Living In Fast Forward 11. Montgomery Gentry - She Don't Tell Me To 12. Miranda Lambert - Kerosene 13. Toby Keith - Get Drunk And Be Somebody 14. Sara Evans - Cheatin' 15. Blake Shelton - Nobody But Me 16. Brooks & Dunn - Believe 17. Jamey Johnson - The Dollar 18. Bon Jovi with Jennifer Nettles - Who Says You Can't Go Home 19. Van Zant - Nobody Gonna Tell Me What To Do 20. Trent Tomlinson - Drunker Than Me 21. Jack Ingram - Wherever You Are 22. Jason Aldean - Why 23. Danielle Peck - I Don't 24. LeAnn Rimes - Something's Gotta Give 25. SHeDaisy - I'm Taking The Wheel 26. Trisha Yearwood & Garth Brooks - Love Will Always Win 27. Rockie Lynne - Lipstick 28. Lee Ann Womack - Twenty Years And Two Husbands Ago 29. Keith Anderson - Everytime I Hear Your Name 30. Craig Morgan - I Got You 31. Jo Dee Messina - Not Going Down 32. Dierks Bentley - Settle For A Slowdown 33. Joe Nichols - Size Matters (Someday) 34. Jamie O'Neal - I Love My Life 35. Ray Scott - My Kind Of Music 36. Kenny Rogers - I Can't Unlove You 37. Rodney Atkins - If You're Going Through Hell (Before The Devil Even Knows) 38. Gary Allan - Life Ain't Always Beautiful 39. Lonestar - I'll Die Tryin' 40. Jeff Bates - No Shame 41. Big & Rich - Never Mind Me 42. Cross Canadian Ragweed - Fightin' For 43. Tracy Lawrence - If I Don't Make It Back 44. Phil Vassar - Last Day Of My Life 45. Clint Back - Drinkin' Songs & Other Logic 46. Susan Haynes - Drinkin' In My Sunday Dress 47. Little Big Town - Bring It On Home 48. Steve Holy - Brand New Girlfriend 49. John Pierce - I'd Still Have You 50. Martina McBride with Dolly Parton - I Still Miss Someone 51. Trent Willmon - On Again Tonight 52. Hal Ketchum - Just This Side Of Heaven 53. John Corbett - Good To Go 54. Neal McCoy - The Last Of A Dying Breed 55. George Strait - The Seashores Of Old Mexico
*One of the softest weeks I've ever seen for a R&R chart. Many songs went recurrent the past week so a ton of songs had big jumps. Though the total points were extremely low. For example Lonestar and Jeff Bates only had 798 and 779 points at #39 and #40. Both would lose their bullets next week with Lonestar falling off a cliff for good. The #50 song occupied by Martina and Dolly only had 300 total points. Ray Scott's "My Kind Of Music" would see it's peak this week which was unbulleted. Danielle Peck, Lonestar, Jeff Bates, Lee Ann Womack, Clint Black, Susan Haynes, John Pierce, Miranda Lambert, Sugarland, Faith Hill and Rockie Lynne would all have their highest peaks this week.

Tim McGraw did it in 1999 with Please Remember Me and Something Like That (both five week #1s in a span of less than six months-in Billboard).

*Carrie Underwood is the second female artist in history to have won the ACM's Triple Crown Award (the first being Barbra Mandrell) *Carrie's debut album was recorded in six weeks * The idea for "Last Name" came up when Carrie was telling the songwriters about a time when she met a guy and gave him her number, only to realize she didn't know his last name *The original title of "Just A Dream" was "Carrie's song," because had her in mind when they were writing it *The video for "See You Again" is composed of "real-life" events that Carrie/Artista received permission to use *The idea for "Temporary Home" came up because Carrie and Mike had finished reading "The Purpose Driven Life" together. There is a passage that discuses Earth being our temporary home; Mike then suggested she write a song of that name, and she brought it (and verse ideas) into a writing session * There are several references to the number 12 in Carrie's. "All-American Girl " video, including Carrie wearing a #12 jersey. The video came out two years before she married Mike Fisher...#12 on the Predators

*The original title for Josh Gracin's top 5 single from 2005 was simply "Brass Bed". The title was changed when it was released as a single to "Stay With Me (Brass Bed)".
*Ryan Shupe and the Rubberband's name was given to them by Ryan sister. She thought of the name as a joke and never expected they would actually use the term "Rubberband".
*Canadian country artist Adam Gregory who had two top 40 singles in 2008 and 2009 with "Crazy Days" and "What It Takes", favorite cereal is Shredded Wheat.
*Fred Stallcup and Danny Rivers of the Curb recording group Sweetwater Rain were once members of a country group called Rio Grand who was also on Curb. They had 8 singles but 7 did not chart. The debut single "Kill Me Now" was the only one to chart at #42 in 2006. The song was co-written by John Rich and Vicki McGehee who I profiled earlier.
*Brad Paisley had back to back Billboard only #1 singles in 2007 with "Ticks" and "Online".
*"Don't Blink was originally going to be the lead single in 2007 for Kenny Chesney's Poets and Pirates: Just Who I Am, but was changed to "Never Wanted Nothing More".
*Both "Alcohol" and "Do You Want Fries With That" had unbulleted peaks the same week on R&R in early September of 2005. "Alcohol" went from #4-3 and "Do You Want Fries With That" went from #6-4.

*RCA's choice for the final single off Jake Owen's debut album Startin' With Me came down to "Something About A Woman", and "Long Night With You". They decided on the former due to a fan vote on XM radio
*Trisha Yearwood debuted "Georgia Rain" on the 2005 CMT Awards as she was a surprise performer.
*Jennifer Hanson's music video for her 2007 single "Joyride" was released two months before the actual single was released to radio.
*Billy Currington was against "That's How Country Boys Roll" being a single. When he met with Mercury, they told him their intentions of making it the third and final single off his Little Bit Of Everything. Currington then said he didn't think it would do well. Mercury though felt good about the song's chances. Currington then said "Well just remember this conversation when the song doesn't do well". Billy later stated on Country Countdown USA that he was obviously wrong and he is thankful he didn't have final say as it became a #1 hit
*WYRK used to have a thing called New Country Battle in 2006, which was held every weeknight at 8 P.M.. Two newer singles were played and listeners could vote for one hour. If a song went 5 straight nights they would retire the song. Some of the one's that went 5 straight nights were "Life Ain't Always Beautiful" by Gary Allan, "8th Of November" by Big & Rich, and "I Loved Her First" by Heartland. In fact Heartland destroyed every song it went up against. It beat "Ready To Rock" by Aaron Tippin 90% to 10% and it beat "Ain't My Day To Care" by Bomshel 98% to 2% which I believe was the record. There were two instances I recall that came down to the last vote. "The Lucky One" by Faith Hill beat "If You're Going Through Hell (Before The Devil Even Knows)" by Rodney Atkins by 1 vote and "Bring It On Home" by Little Big Town" beat "Easy Does It" by Hot Apple Pie by 1 vote.

Sara Evans and Rascal Flatts both passed on recording "Jesus, Take the Wheel" before it got to Carrie Underwood. I remember reading that Faith Hill did as well, I could be wrong though...

*Before she rose to fame, Shania Twain began to write a song called "Hallelujah". Once she met Mutt Lange, they finished writing the song together and changed the title to "God Bless the Child". The song was finally included on her breakthrough album The Woman In Me and released as the 8th and final single from the album. However, the version of "God Bless the Child" on the album is the 'unfinished' version that Shania originally wrote, sung completely a cappella. The extended version she completed with Mutt was the version that was sent to radio as a single, and had an accompanying music video, with 2 separate versions (one including a banjo, and one without). It is her only single from the album's 8 singles not to hit the Top 40 at country radio.
*Every song included on Shania's albums (with the exception of her debut album, before she had her breakthrough) was co-written by her and ex-husband Mutt Lange, with the exception of 2 songs from The Woman In Me album, in which Mutt and Shania agreed to write a song each completely on their own. Shania's contribution to the album was an album track, titled "Leaving Is The Only Way Out". Mutt Lange wrote "You Win My Love", which ended up being the 5th single from The Woman In Me and went to #1 on the country charts.
*Shania wanted "Any Man of Mine" to be the lead single from The Woman In Me, but her label felt the song was a little too different for country radio at the time, so they decided to release the countrier-sounding "Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?" to be safe. Although the song became Shania's first Top 20 hit, with a peak of #11, Shania's instincts ended up proving her right when "Any Man of Mine" hit #1 as the 2nd single from The Woman In Me and became her first #1.
*Patsy Cline's 4th studio album was to be titled Faded Love. Due to Patsy's untimely death, the album was never released and her label instead released the compilation album The Patsy Cline Story the summer after her death. The compilation included her biggest hits as well as a few songs intended for her 4th album, including "Sweet Dreams" and "Leavin' On Your Mind" which were both released as singles and became posthumous hits for Patsy. Patsy had also recorded the intended title track to her never-released 4th album, "Faded Love", but her label didn't include it on The Patsy Cline Story compilation. Instead, it was included on another Patsy Cline compilation released after her death entitled A Portrait of Patsy Cline. "Faded Love" was released as the first single from that album, and became another posthumous hit for the legendary singer.
*Carrie Underwood's album track "The More Boys I Meet" on her Carnival Ride album was originally supposed to be on her debut album, Some Hearts. There wasn't enough room left on the album to include it, but Carrie liked the song so she kept it on hold and included it on her sophomore album.
*Carrie Underwood's first concert was Alan Jackson.
*Taylor Swift's first concert was LeAnn Rimes.

*The Dixie Chicks song "Favorite Year" was inspired by the movie "The Big Chill " & was co-written with Sheryl Crow *Carrie Underwood co-wrote a song with Ne-Yo for "Play On" *Carrie personally asked Randy Travis for his permission to record "I Told You So" *The songwriter of "Independence Day" is the woman singing " Amazing Grace" at the beginning of the video

*Train #10 was originally going to be the title of Tim McGraw's ninth studio album and tenth overall album in 2006, and be the lead or at least the second single from the record. But Curb decided instead to issue a Reflected: Greatest Hits Volume 2 album that year with "When The Stars Go Blue" and "I've Got Friends That Do" both being issued to country radio in March of 2006. Country radio decided on the former as the new single.
"Train #10" was later put on his 2007 studio album Let It Go, but not released as a single. Tim voiced his displeasure for having yet another planned album and single scrapped by his label.
*Tim would later perform songs from his upcoming studio album on his 2008 tour with Jason Aldean and Halfway To Hazard. He kept telling his fans that the record would be out at the end of the year and perform songs such as "Southern Voice", and "You Had To Be There". Unfortunately Curb would keep releasing single after single from his Let It Go album like "Let It Go", and "Nothin' To Die For". It would not be until October of 2009 that his Southern Voice album would be released. A full year after he said it would originally be out.

*Jay Demarcus recently revealed they had their new song "Compass" for 4 years. Jay said they were asked if they had a song to use in "if Heaven Is For Real," and he rediscovered the song when going through old demos *Rascal Flatts had originally cut "Church On Cumberland Road" for their album "Changed," but "Next To You, Next To Me" was chosen instead *The video for " Without You" by the Dixie Chicks was directed by Natalie's husband, Adrian Pasadar *Goodbye Earl was chosen as a single after it received so much unsolicited airplay

Billy Dean co-wrote (with Verlon Thompson) and sang the theme song of the early 90s cartoon Wild West C.O.W.-Boys of Moo Mesa.
Verlon Thompson was originally the lead singer of Restless Heart, but he left before the first single and was replaced by Larry Stewart.
Pam Tillis first recorded "Maybe It Was Memphis" and "One of Those Things" in the 80s for Warner Bros. She also released the latter for Warner, but it didn't chart. When she signed with Arista Nashville in the 90s, she wanted to put out Memphis, but the label originally thought it was too pop-sounding, and waited until she had a couple more Top 10 hits off the album before doing so.
Pam Tillis and producer Paul Worley liked the demo of "Shake the Sugar Tree" (sung by Stephanie Bentley) so much that they just added Pam's vocals and a couple more instruments to the demo track.
Although neither song made Top 40, many stations play Corbin/Hanner's "Work Song" on Monday mornings and George Jones' "Finally Friday" on Fridays.
Speaking of Friday, Aaron Tippin made an alternate mix of his 2005 single "Come Friday" that changed the title to "It's Friday" to serve as a modern-day "Finally Friday".
Brett James was signed to Arista Nashville on two separate occasions. In between, he turned down an offer to join the band Sixwire.
Sixwire lead vocalist Andy Childs charted three singles for RCA in the mid-90s. One of them had "Your Love Amazes Me", which later became John Berry's only #1 hit, on the B-side.
Before "Lover, Lover", Jerrod Niemann sent out "One More Drinkin' Song" as a promo single. Although it wasn't yet an official release, it spent one week at #59.
Joe Nichols' "Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off", which mentions Bon Jovi, was #1 the week that Bon Jovi hit the Top 40 with "Who Says You Can't Go Home".
"Who Says You Can't Go Home" was supposed to be a duet with Keith Urban, but Jon Bon Jovi thought that his voice was too similar to Urban's.
The music video for "Want To" by Sugarland lowers the pitch of the song by about a whole-step. (Any idea why this was done?)
The music video for "Feed Jake" by Pirates of the Mississippi was supposedly the first music video in country music not to feature the artist in it at all.
The highest chart single for cardiologist-turned-country singer Cleve Francis was appropriately titled "You Do My Heart Good".
James House was Dustin Hoffman's vocal coach for Ishtar.
Wheel of Fortune did two Country Music weeks, one in 2003 and one in 2007. Both had teams of contestants and country stars playing together. The stars had their contestants' winnings matched and donated to charity with a minimum of $10,000. Wynonna, Lorrie Morgan, Richie McDonald, and Mark Wills were featured on both of these weeks. Steve Azar also made a cameo during the first week and played on the second.
Other country stars who have spun the Wheel include Lee Greenwood, Tanya Tucker, and Tammy Wynette during a special music stars week in 1994; Trisha Yearwood during a 1997 week featuring celebrities and their mothers playing for charity (Trisha also played during the second Country Music week); and a pre-Blue County Scott Reeves on two Soap Stars weeks in 1992 and 2001.

^ Speaking of the "Feed Jake" music video, the dog at the end of the video died shortly after the filming. :(
*The first chart week after Nielsen officially bought R&R, was the week ending 8/11/2006. The #1 song the week before was "A Little Too Late" by Toby Keith, and the #1 song for the 8/11 week was "If You're Going Through Hell (Before The Devil Even Knows)" which would hold the top spot for 3 weeks.
*Neal McCoy's music label 903 music scored four top 40 singles ("Billy's Got His Beer Goggles On" #10, "The Last Of A Dying Breed" #36, "Nothin' But A Love Thang" #32, "I Just Came Back From A War" #15). All Mediabase peaks.
*Arista sent out a version of "Three Chord Country And American Rock & Roll" with Aerosmith lead singer Steven Tyler as the album's fourth single in July of 2006. But after country radio rejected the song, the label put promotion back into "Every Time I Hear Your Name" which had lost it's bullet after a peak of #6. It charted for a few more weeks before it fell off for good. "Podunk" would end up being the fourth and final single.
*The music video for "In Terms Of Love" by SHeDaisy features the fourth Osborne sister Karli in place of sister Kelsi who had just given birth to a baby.

*Kellie Pickler at one time dated NHL forward Jordin Tootoo (Nashville Predators, Detroit Red Wings)
*Thompson Square's debut single was "Let's Fight" (#58) in 2010.
*Sarah Buxton was a incubator in the Muzik Mafia before signing to Lyric Street in 2006.
*Bomshel members Buffy Lawson and Kristy Osmunson wrote "Bomshel Stomp" on Kristy's birthday. They intended it to never see the light of day and just wanted to write a dance song. It was tested in Michigan radio markets and was officially released as the duo's third single because of the popular reaction.
*Noted songwriters Josh Kear and Chris Tompkins first single writing credit was "That's How They Do It In Dixie" (#33 on R&R) by Hank Williams Jr. with Big & Rich, Gretchen Wilson, and Van Zant in 2006.
*The highest non-top 5 single of 2008's Mediabase Year End Chart was "Gunpowder And Lead" (#7). The highest non-top 10 was "God Must Be Busy" (#12). The lowest #1 single was "Chicken Fried", and the highest non-number one single was "What Kinda Gone" (#3).
*The album version of "Long Slow Kisses" on Jeff Bates' Rainbow Man was different than the version which was sent to country radio. The radio version was included on his Leave The Light On album.
*Shania Twain hasn't had a top 10 single since "She's Not Just A Pretty Face" (#9) in early 2004. Faith Hill hasn't had a solo top 10 single since "Sunshine And Summertime" (#6 on Mediabase) in September of 2006 ("I Need You" was a duet on Tim's album Let It Go).
*Jerry Springer recorded a country album in 1995 called Dr. Talk on Fiddle Fish Records, where most tracks were country covers.

-Miranda Lambert wrote "Kerosene", but after recording it, felt that the melody and structure were too similar to Steve Earle's "I Feel Alright". She then gave Steve a co-writing credit on the song, stating that she unconsciously copied aspects of "I Feel Alright" after having listened it so much.

*Jay Demarcus and Gary Levox were married on the same day (May 15th), but five years apart. *Jay started his career in a Christian band called "East To West" *Natalie Maines hates the Chicks first hit, "There's Your Trouble," and was against recording it *Carrie's record label wanted her to go Pop when she came off Idol, even though she had expressed a desire to sing Country music during her entire AI run *Carrie supposedly originally wanted to sing with Martina McBride during her Idol finale performance in 2005, but Martina was pregnant with her daughter at the time, so she chose Rascal Flatts and sang "Bless The Broken Road" with them *Gary Levox stated in an interview they credit that Idol performance with Carrie as their ticket to becoming bigger stars

*Rockie Lynne's single "More" spent 21 weeks on Billboards chart (top 60). Yet it's peak was only #48 and it's highest spin total was 81.
*Kellie Pickler's single "Things That Never Cross A Man's Mind" was actually written by three guys (Wynn Varble, Don Poythress, and Tim Johnson). Wynn Varble said that when his wife answered the phone she said "that there's a new artist named Kellie Pickler that want's to cut your song "Things That Never Cross A Man's Mind"". Wynn then said "I never heard of him".
*Ralph Stanley was never credited on both Mediabase and Billboards charts for his song with Josh Turner in late 2006/early 2007 "Me And God", even though Ralph sings the whole second verse.
*The #1 song on R&R's 2005 Year End Chart was "That's What I Love About Sunday". The highest non #1 song was "Baby Girl" (#2) which finished #4. The highest non top 5 single was "Don't Worry 'Bout A Thing" (#6) by SHeDaisy at #31. The highest non top 10 single was "Long Slow Kisses" (#12) by Jeff Bates at #45. The highest non top 15 single was "It's A Heartache" (#18) by Trick Pony at #68. The highest non top 20 single was "4th Of July" (#23) by Shooter Jennings at #85. The lowest charting single for the year was "Bring Me Down" by Miranda Lambert at #99.
*Buddy Jewell's last charting single was "So Gone" on Radio And Records. It peaked at #47. What's weird is it never charted on Billboard (top 60).
*"Who You'd Be Today" was the final song Kenny Chesney cut for his album The Road And The Radio. He said he thankfully found the song at the last moment, and couldn't imagine not having it on the album or the lead single which is indeed was.

*Natalie Maines hates the Chicks first hit, "There's Your Trouble," and was against recording it "I Can Love You Better" was their first hit, but that was their first #1. Where did you find this out? A few more: * The typewriter sound on "9 to 5" is Dolly Parton clicking her fingernails together. * The percussion on Alan Jackson's "Hard Hat and a Hammer" is Alan striking an anvil with a hammer. * Record producer Jimmy Bowen created a label called Universal Records which was only open for less than a year before it got bought by Capitol Records. Eddy Raven, Gary Morris, Glen Campbell, Wild Rose, and Pirates of the Mississippi were all signed to it. * Mundo Earwood charted 23 singles between 1972 and 1989 without ever hitting Top 10. His best showing was "Things I'd Do for You" at #18. * Tim Ryan (aka Tim Ryan Rouillier) has recorded four major-label albums without ever charting a Top 40 hit. His closest was "Dance in Circles" at #42 in 1990. * Brent Mason ad-libbed the 70's "wah wah" guitar effect on Billy Currington's "Don't". * David Lee Murphy did an acoustic version and a "muy caliente" version of his 2004 hit "Loco". Both were only available on iTunes on a special EP called "The Loco Tapes" which is no longer available.

WYRK played the "muy caliente" version which I find much more fun and is probably my favorite single of 2004.

^ I have the "muy caliente" version. I remember hearing it on American Country Countdown.

There used to be a George Strait gift shop in Nashville. It was called George Strait's Texas Connection. Conway Twitty had a gift shop, as well. One interesting thing I noticed, was that they had cancelled checks for sale with Conway's signiature on them.

*Natalie Maines said in an interview she "cried uncontrollably" after the Dixie Chicks swept the Grammy's for "Taking The Long Way"; she said it felt like the end of a chapter for her
*Natalie had therapy because of all the hate she received from 'the incident,' and she said it makes her uncomfortable to watch videos from DC's earlier days
