Iggy Azalea enters the chart with "The New Classic," Future lands with "Honest" and Pharrell's "G I R L" keeps him in the Top 5.

This week, Iggy Azalea and Future enter the Billboard Top 200 albums chart with The New Classic and Honest, respectively. Meanwhile, Pharrell holds on to a Top 5 slot on the chart with his most recent album, G I R L.

Future's Honest Effort Lands At #2

Future's Honest landed in the #2 spot and sold 53,352 units in its first week. Honest earned a 3 out of 5 in its HipHopDX review. "While he doesn’t completely remedy the flaws that held back Pluto, 'Future Hendrix' has incrementally improved," HipHopDX says in its review. "He’s still plagued by bouts of lazy writing and the inclusion of older songs such as 'Karate Chop,' 'Sh!t' and 'Honest' have the unintended effect of making the project feel stale at times. 'Move That Dope' and 'Benz Friendz' may contend for two of 2013’s best collaborations, and having focused assists from Pusha T, Pharrell and Andre 3000 don’t hurt. As a soloist, Future is learning to play to his strengths. No one realistically expects Future to make the type of leap Three Stacks did between Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik and ATLiens. But if he expounds on the type of substance he hints at on 'Special,' his album cuts will be as equally potent as his singles. For now, he’s returned with a slightly updated, less flawed version of 2012’s Pluto. It’s not the classic balance of style and substance ushered in by the Dungeon Family’s first generation. But it does help further the argument that both elements aren’t mutually exclusive."

Iggy Azalea's The New Classic Debuts At #3

Iggy Azalea took the #3 spot this week by selling 52,392 copies of her The New Classic album. The project earned a 2.5 out of 5 in its HipHopDX review. "The New Classic is a musical throne upon which the new blonde princess of Pop can rest her ample posterior," HipHopDX says in its review. "As Rap and Pop synergize again—yet this time without significantly embarrassing results—it opens the gate for Iggy Azalea to have an opportunity to shine. Sometimes, when Pop marketing and urban music perfectly commingle, we get Michael Jackson’s Thriller. In other cases, Iggy Azalea’s The New Classic aims high, but ultimately falls flat."

Pharrell's G I R L Remains In Top 5

Pharrell's G I R L remains in the Top 5 this week, a placement it earned by selling 21,107 units to be this week's #4 album on the Billboard Hot 200 albums chart. P's G I R L dropped from last week's sales by 36 percent. The effort sold 32,858 units last week. Overall, Pharrell has sold 325,483 copies of G I R L in eight weeks of availability.

HITS has never said how they compile their charts. They could have made the error.

Is there that much off a difference between at #2 or #3 peak?

Iggy will sell more than Future in the end.

The Billboard article said Future sold a lot more physical copies of their album CD's than  Azaelia did (26,000 vs 10,000).  She outsold him in digital copies.  They were only separated by about 1000 units.

'Frozen' Still No. 1 On Billboard 200; Future Debuts At No. 2

Disney's soundtrack to "Frozen" continues to chill for a 12th week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, while the latest albums from Iggy Azalea and Future arrive in the top three.

"Frozen" sold another 115,000 copies in the week ending April 27, according to Nielsen SoundScan. That's down 56 percent from a week ago, when it hit a weekly high of 259,000.

"Frozen" is just the eighth album to have spent at least 12 weeks at No. 1 since SoundScan started tracking sales in 1991. Since the Billboard 200 began publishing on a regular weekly basis in 1956, "Frozen" is one of 14 soundtracks to have earned at least 12 weeks at the top.

With the additional 115,000 Frozen sold in the week ending April 27, its total sales rise to 2.5 million. Further, the album becomes the first to reach 2 million in sales in 2014, as its sales this year climb to 2.1 million. ("Frozen" was released in November of 2013, and sold 338,000 last year.)

Last year, it took nearly six months for the industry to notch its first 2 million seller: Justin Timberlake's "The 20/20 Experience," which crossed the threshold in the week ending June 23.

"Frozen" remains the only album to have sold 1 million copies so far in 2014. The year's second-biggest seller is Beyonce's self-titled set, with 648,000.

One more fun "Frozen" fact: The album accounts for 2.6 percent of all albums sold this year and 5.4 percent of all current (non-catalog) albums.

As for the rest of the new Billboard 200, five new titles debut in the top 10.

Rapper Future sees his sophomore album, "Honest," launch at No. 2 with 53,000 sold, marking his best sales week and highest-charting album yet. It surpasses the No. 8 debut and peak of his first set, "Pluto," which bowed with a high of 41,000 in 2012. The biggest hit from Honest is "Move That Doh," featuring Pharrell, Pusha T and Casino. It climbed 15-14 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart dated May 3.

Fewer than 1,000 copies behind Future is rapper Iggy Azalea's debut full-length album, "The New Classic," which starts at No. 3 with 52,000 sold.

"The New Classic" is supported by its current hit single, "Fancy," featuring Charli XCX, which jumped 37-18 on the Billboard Hot 100 dated May 3. Azalea notched her first Billboard chart hit on July 20, when her song "Work" bowed on the Bubbling Under Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. It would later peak at No. 35 Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs.

"The New Classic" is the highest-charting rap album from a woman on the Billboard 200 since Nicki Minaj's "Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded" debuted at No. 1 on the April 21, 2012 chart. Azalea also logs the highest bow for a female rapper's first album since Dec. 11, 2010, when Minaj's first set, "Pink Friday," entered at No. 2. ("Pink Friday" later rose to No. 1 on the chart dated Feb. 19, 2011.)

Last week, industry forecasters had suggested that Azalea would beat Future in first-week sales. "The New Classic" was projected to sell between 50,000 to 55,000, while "Honest" was aiming for 45,000 to 50,000. Though the overall final gap between the two titles is fewer than 1,000 units, Future handily outsold Azalea in terms of physical CDs. "Honest" sold 26,000 CDs while "The New Classic" shifted just 10,000 CDs. In terms of download albums, "Classic" trumped "Honest" 43,000 vs. 27,000.

Continuing down the Billboard 200: Pharrell's "G I R L" climbs 7-4 with 21,000 (down 36 percent), while August Alsina's "Testimony" dips 2-5 in its second week with 20,000 (down 71 percent).

Neon Trees nab their first top 10 album as "Pop Psychology" starts at No. 6 with 19,000. It's also the best sales week for the act, beating the bow of 2012's "Picture Show," which started with nearly 19,000 at No. 17.

Luke Bryan's "Crash My Party" slides down one rung to No. 7, selling 19,000 (down 42 percent).

The new "Nashville: On the Record" live album from the cast of ABC TV's "Nashville" series enters at No. 8 with 18,000. It also debuts at No. 2 on the Top Country Albums chart. While "Nashville" has spawned three earlier soundtrack albums, none have reached the top 10 on the Billboard 200. The highest-charting "Nashville"-related album, until this week, had been "Nashville: Season 1 Volume 2," which hit No. 13 on May 25, 2013.

Lorde's "Pure Heroine" falls 8-9 in its 30th week with 16,000 (down 38 percent).

Bethel Music's Christian worship album "You Make Me Brave: Live at the Civic" closes out the top 10, debuting at No. 10 with 14,000. Bethel Music (a division of the Bethel Church in Redding, California) has charted five previous entries on the tally, reaching as high as No. 28 with "Tides Live" in March.

With just 14,000 sold, "You Make Me Brave" claims the lowest weekly sum at No. 10 since SoundScan started powering the chart on May 25, 1991. It falls below the previous low, tallied when Nickelback's "Here and Now" sold 17,000 on the chart dated Feb. 4, 2012.

Over on the Digital Songs chart, Pharrell's "Happy" spends an 11th week at No. 1 (208,000 downloads; down 24 percent), marking the second-longest run at No. 1 ever. The only song with more weeks at No. 1 is Flo Rida's "Low," which clocked 13 weeks at No. 1 in 2007 and 2008. Digital Songs launched nearly 10 years ago, with the chart dated Oct. 30, 2004.

"Happy" leads a static top five: Nos. 1-5 all hold their position for another week. John Legend's "All of Me" is No. 2 (187,000; down 12 percent); Jason Derulo's "Talk Dirty," featuring 2 Chainz, is No. 3 (145,000; down 27 percent); Idina Menzel's "Let It Go" is No. 4 (133,000; down 16 percent); and DJ Snake & Lil Jon's "Turn Down for What" is No. 5 (131,000; up 10 percent).

Azalea's "Fancy," featuring Charli XCX, climbs 12-6 (108,000; up 29 percent) with the chart's largest unit gain (up 25,000). Katy Perry's "Dark Horse," featuring Juicy J, is stationary at No. 7 (104,000; down 8 percent), and Luke Bryan's "Play It Again" rises 9-8 (96,000; down 8 percent).

Timberlake's "Not a Bad Thing" jumps 11-9 (87,000; down 1 percent), returning him to the top 10 for the first time as a lead artist since the June 15, 2013 chart. That's when "Mirrors" spent its final week in the region, at No. 10.

Ed Sheeran's "Sing" rounds out the top 10, falling 8-10 with 80,000 (down 24 percent).

Overall album sales in this past chart week (ending April 27) totaled 4.3 million units, down 19 percent compared with the sum last week (5.3 million) and down 17 percent compared with the comparable sales week of 2013 (5.2 million). Year-to-date album sales stand at 80.5 million, down 16 percent compared with the same total at this point last year (95.6 million).

Digital track sales this past week totaled 23 million downloads, down 4 percent compared with last week (24 million) and down 5 percent stacked next to the comparable week of 2013 (24.3 million). Year-to-date track sales are at 402.1 million, down 12 percent compared to the same total at this point last year (458.3 million).

Next week's Billboard 200 competes with the same week in 2013 when: Kenny Chesney's "Life on a Rock" debuted at No. 1 with 153,000 and Michael Buble's "To Be Loved" slipped 1-2 with 96,000 (down 51 percent).

Chart Watch: Sell 14K Albums, Make The Top 10

With album sales declining, this news flash was inevitable. Still, it's dispiriting: An album makes the top 10 on The Billboard 200 this week after selling a little less than 14K copies. That's a new low in the Nielsen SoundScan era for what it takes to make the top 10. The previous low was set in January 2012 when Nickelback's "Here And Now" ranked in the top 10 after selling a little less than 17K. The album in question this week is Bethel Music's "You Make Me Brave (Live)," which was recorded live at the Bethel Women's Conference. It features such Contemporary Christian stars as Kari Jobe.

Here's another bit of bad news: Six of this week's top 10 albums sold fewer than 20K copies. That's also a record. The old record, set that same week in January 2012, was five of the top 10 albums selling fewer than 20K copies.

From the time Nielsen SoundScan started tracking music sales in January 1991 through September 2007, no album made the top 10 with weekly sales of less than 30K. That changed the week ending Sept. 9, 2007, when two albums (Amy Winehouse's "Back To Black" and Linkin Park's "Minutes To Midnight") made it with sales of 29K and 28K, respectively. The first albums to make the top 10 with weekly sales of less than 20K came the week ending Jan. 15, 2012. (They were Coldplay's "Mylo Xyloto," Nickelback's "Here Are Now" and "Now 40.")

Here's some better news: "Frozen" is #1 for the 12th week. That's two more weeks at #1 than "The Lion King" soundtrack piled up in 1994-1995. These are the longest runs at #1 by soundtracks to animated movies in chart history. But "Frozen" still has a long way to go to match "The Lion King" in total U.S. sales. "Frozen" has sold 2,450,000 copies, which is less than one-third of the total of "The Lion King" (7,873,000).

How to explain this? Overall sales aren't what they were in 1994-1995. "The Lion King" sold 4,934,000 copies in 1994. It would take a miracle for "Frozen" to equal that achievement. As of this week, it has sold 2,113,000 albums in 2014.

Also, "The Lion King" has had a long time to add to its sales. The album had sold 6,860,000 copies by the end of 1995. It has sold a little more than a million copies since then, as a catalog album.

"Frozen" is currently the fifth best-selling soundtrack to an animated movie since 1991. It trails "The Lion King," "Tarzan" (2,586,000), "Aladdin" (2,481,000) and "Shrek" (2,475,000). "Frozen" will surpass "Aladdin" and "Shrek" next week, and will probably top "Tarzan" in two weeks, but it may never catch "The Lion King."

"Frozen" this week becomes the first album to sell 2 million copies in 2014. It sold an additional 338K copies in the last five weeks of 2013.

This is the 18th week in the top five for "Frozen." That's the longest run in the top five for a soundtrack from a theatrically-released movie since "Titanic" logged 18 weeks in the top five from January to May 1998.

"Frozen" sold 43K digital copies this week, which puts it at #1 on Top Digital Albums for the ninth week. "Frozen" this week becomes the 10th album in digital history (and the first soundtrack) to sell 1 million digital copies.

"Frozen" is #1 on Top Soundtracks for the 22nd week. The movie was in the top 30 at the box-office for the 23rd weekend.

Future's second album, "Honest," debuts at #2. It's his second top 10 album in a row. "Pluto" hit #8 in 2012. Future has a current Hot 100 hit with "Move That Doh" (featuring Pharrell, Pusha T and Casino).

Iggy Azalea's debut album, "The New Classic," debuts at #3. The Aussie female hip-hop artist, 23, has a current top 20 single with "Fancy" (featuring Charli XCX). The song jumped from #37 to #18 on last week's Hot 100 and is expected to move up again this week. It jumps from #12 to #6 on Hot Digital Songs.

Incidentally, pop music's most famous "Iggy," Iggy Pop, has yet to land a top 10 album. The punk star's highest-charting album, "The Idiot," reached #72 in 1977.

Neon Trees's third album, "Pop Psychology," debuts at #6. It's the group's first top 10 album. The group has a current Hot 100 hit with "Sleeping With A Friend."

Luke Bryan's "Crash My Party" dips from #6 to #7. The album is #1 on Top Country Albums for the 10th week. That's the longest run at #1 for an album by a male solo artist since Jason Aldean's "My Kinda Party" topped the chart for 12 weeks in 2011.

"Nashville On The Record (Live)" debuts at #8. It's the first top 10 album by the cast of ABC's "Nashville," following a pair of albums that reached the top 20. (The title enters Top Country Albums at #2.)

Pharrell Williams's "Happy" is #1 on Hot Digital Songs for the 11th week, with sales of 208K. It's the first song to spend 11 weeks at #1 on this chart since "Low" by Flo Rida featuring T-Pain logged 13 weeks on top in 2007-2008. Will "Happy" log its 10th week at #1 on the Hot 100? You'll find out later today when we post my first of two Chart Watch Songs blogs.

This is its 22nd week in the top 10 … Bethel Music's "You Make Me Brave (Live)" debuts at #10 (14K).

Five albums drop out of the top 10 this week. NEEDTOBREATHE's "Rivers In The Wasteland" drops from #3 to #24. Jason Derulo's "Talk Dirty" drops from #4 to #17. Ingrid Michaelson's "Lights Out" drops from #5 to #20. … 5 Seconds Of Summer's "She Looks So Perfect" drops from #9 to #12. "Now 49" drops from #10 to #23.

Francesca Battistelli's fourth studio album, "If We're Honest," debuts at #13. It's her highest-charting album to date, surpassing "Hundred More Years," which reached #16 in 2011 … Johnny Cash's 2005 compilation, "The Legend Of Johnny Cash," rebounds from #58 to #38 in its 163rd chart week. The album returns to #1 on Top Catalog Albums, displacing Nas's "Illmatic." This is its second week on top.

Metallica's "Through The Never" is #1 on Top Music Videos for the ninth week. That's the longest run on top for a video by a rock band since Rush's "Beyond The Lighted Stage" had 10 weeks on top in 2010-2011.

"The Other Woman" was #1 at the box-office over the weekend. It's Nicki Minaj's first live-action movie. Minaj previously did voice work in the animated "Ice Age: Continental Drift." That movie was also #1 at the box-office (in July 2012), which means Minaj has had as many #1 movies as she has albums.


Coming Attractions: Look for Ray LaMontagne's "Supernova," Lindsey Stirling's "Shatter Me" and the Contemporary Christian compilation "Passion: Take It All (Live)" to rank high on next week's chart. Also due: Timeflies's "After Hours."

Not much about sales this week to brag about for Country Music. Nearly every album sales week over week are down after the Easter sales rush.

Easter helped boost sales last week but this week those sales numbers have fallen flat with most albums experiencing double sales drops. The Top 5 is unchanged from last week with the exception of Jesse James Decker’s EP dropping from #5 to #11 and being replaced by the Digital live album from the soundtrack partner to “Nashville: On The Record.” The show may get middling ratings but its collection of music certainly benefits from the broadcast every week. At #1 is Luke Bryan, #3 is FGL, #4 is Eric Church and #5 is Johnny Cash with “Out Among The Stars.”

Dan+Shay, Martina McBride, Dierks Bentley, Cole Swindell, and Blake Shelton round out Top 10.

Blake Shelton leads the #6-#10 portion of this week’s chart with labelmates at Warner Brothers Nashville, the young stars Cole Swindell and Dan+Shay at #7 and #8 with their debut albums. Cole’s self-titled album remains the best-selling album from a new Country artist in 2014 while Dan+Shay have many accolades for thier project (and a Gold Single) as well. Dierks Bentley’s Riser jumps back inside the Top 10 for the first time in a few weeks while Martina McBride slides from #6 to #10 with “Everlasting,” her three week old album.

Notable albums include George Strait’s Love Is Everything, Jerrod Niemann’s High Noon and Eric Paslay, Scotty McCreery and more

This week’s notable section starts with George Strait’s 400k+ selling album Love Is Everything, Jerrod Niemann’s “High Noon” (which features new single “Donkey”) and six albums that didn’t make the Hot 200, a look at some of the rising stars including ELi Young Band’s 10,000 Towns, Scotty McCreery’s See You Tonight, Brett Eldredge’s Bring You Back and, now, Eric Paslay’s self-titled debut, an album which is one of only a handful of albums to score any sort of sales increase this week. Danielle Bradbery and Cassadee Pope’s latest are also chronicled though the total sales may be very similar to last week’s (we round up or down to nearest 1,000 so if the album sells less, it may be same # as last week).

Miley Cyrus' 'Bangerz' Hits 1 Million In Sales

She nets her sixth set to pass the vaunted sales milestone

Miley Cyrus' album "Bangerz" has crossed the 1 million sales mark, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The set becomes her sixth to reach the sales milestone.

The album, released on Oct. 8, 2013, sold another 6,000 copies in the week ending April 27, pushing its total sales to 1.003 million. It ranks at No. 42 on the Billboard 200 in its 29th chart week.

"Bangerz" has roundly outsold Cyrus' previous studio effort, 2010's "Can't Be Tamed." That Hollywood Records release has sold 351,000 copies (with 29 percent of its total sales registered in its debut week: 102,000).

"Bangerz," Cyrus' first album for RCA Records, has generated two smash singles in "We Can't Stop" and "Wrecking Ball." The former spent three nonconsecutive weeks at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, while the latter topped the list for three weeks, marking her first Hot 100 leader. The album's third single, and most recent release, "Adore You," reached No. 21 on the Hot 100 dated March 1.

Cyrus' total album sales, including her work as Disney's "Hannah Montana" character, stand at 15.9 million. Her biggest seller remains the first soundtrack to Disney Channel's "Hannah Montana" TV series, which has sold 3.74 million since its release in 2006. "Hannah Montana"-related albums (including the half-soundtrack/half-studio album "Hannah Montana 2/Meet Miley Cyrus") comprise 72 percent of her overall album sales.

Still, while her "Hannah Montana" titles make up the bulk of her sales, her four non-"Hannah" releases - "Breakout," "The Time of Our Lives EP," "Can't Be Tamed" and "Bangerz" - have sold well. Of those, only "Can't Be Tamed" has yet to sell a million.

Yours Truly is not certified platinum... If you're referring to Cartman2002's post, then ignore that; that's his personal charts points nonsense.
