Itch holds the top slot for a fourth week, which is the longest that a song has spent atop the chart since Nothing But Thieves' last #1 hit, Trip Switch. Five weeks might be a stretch with the songs below fighting desperately for the top. Run Or Hide holds #2, as well as the "highest ranked song to never hit #1" crown for the sixth straight week, tying the longest mark there (with alt-J's Every Other Freckle). While it isn't the ideal title to claim, the song may be stuck with it if it can't gain more momentum before the next chart. Genghis Khan slides smoothly through most of the Top 10, jumping five slots from #8 to #3 this week. Latchkey Kids reaches its likely peak with a small move to #4. The day where I binge on all of the Silversun Pickups I have yet to hear is approaching rapidly. Ways To Get High drops to #5, signaling its chart decline. Vice Grip clears out of the Top 5 as well, with a two spot drop. Return To The Moon sticks at #7 as their follow-up single debuts in the lower ranks. The first of two new Top 10 tracks is Wide Open, surpassing The Chemical Brothers' previous highest peak (Go, #11) as well as giving Beck some more Top 10 action as the featured artist. The video for the song is pretty crazy too. Rabbits Foot hops down to #9, still without a followup (though that should change very soon). Finally, Portugal. The Man grab #10 with All My People, a song from 2009's American Ghetto. It gives the chart favorites sole possession of the most Top 10's record with 6, though now 2nd-place Big Data's 5 songs were all on the same album. The hype for this song was aided by the fact that a new Portugal. The Man album (maybe even double album?) has been nearly confirmed by the band for the summer. Expect a massive debut for that single when it comes out in a few months.
Top debut of the week goes out to a group I've been interested in for a while, but never really sat down to listen to until this past week. Everything Everything enter with Distant Past at #72. The song fits a little bit into alt-J's playbook, but with more of a Remain In Light-esque driving nature to it. Get To Heaven has been on my album backlog for a while, and it should get a listen if this track continues to do well. Soul Coughing continue their El Oso domination with $300 at #78. There are still a few tracks left waiting to chart before their massive streak will come to an end (unless an incredibly unlikely reunion happens) EL VY bring their second track to the chart, as Need A Friend joins up at #83. I'm a big fan of the bass in the track, and it has a more laid back feel compared to the current radio track. Shaman's Harvest add In Chains at #85, a song from the Active charts that I had on my periphery for a while but finally gave a shot this week. Wolf Alice chart their fifth song with Your Loves Whore at #90. I wasn't really a fan of Cold Cold Man, but digging back to 2009 I found a heavier Saint Motel with Dear Dictator, and it debuted after a pleasant first listen to give the band a proper followup to My Type (#14). Finally, after ten long weeks Bubbling Under, Turn Your Love from Half Moon run joins at #98. Only six other charts have made it to the Top 100 after that long of a stint in the BU chart, producing mixed results. There's still time to see where this one ends up.
On My Mind becomes the new #1 on the Bubbling Under chart after Wolf Alice departs for greener pastures. Ellie Goulding has had success on the chart before, but after taking a poppier turn her returns diminished. I still like the track, and it should see some main chart action soon. Portugal. The Man's Sugar Cinnamon gets a mention as it spends its 15th week on the BU chart, only one week away from tying Paolo Nutini's all-time record (Let Me Down Easy). It should surpass the mark, but it depends if the chart speeds up over the next few charts. St. Louise Is Listening hits three straight weeks at #1 on the Recurrent chart, holding off R.E.M. moving to #2 and Here's entry at #4.

Miike Snow take over the chart's top billing with Genghis Khan in their eighth week in the Top 100. The song enjoyed a steady rise to the throne and should hold for at least another week or two. Itch recesses to #2 after an impressive four weeks at #1. Now attention turns to whether Ban All The Music can continue the band's impressive Top 2 peaking streak. Run Or Hide falls to #3, virtually erasing Run River North's chances to peak at #1. They should earn a high year-end peak if that proves to be any consolation. Wide Open moves into the Top 5, giving Beck his third song in the Top 5 and his first as a featured artist. Latchkey Kids falls to #5, making room for two rising SSPU tracks in the lower ranks. Return To The Moon sneaks to #6, struggling to stay above water in a packed Top 10. Vice Grip drops to #7, close to securing the #1 slot for the first quarter of the year. Ghost matches Nothing But Thieves with 3/3 Top 10 peaks for their first three charting tracks, as Majesty jumps to #8. Ways To Get High continues its swift exit from the Top 10, falling to #9. Finally, Kurt Vile's Pretty Pimpin hits #10 in only its 6th week on the chart. The track should challenge for #1 in the future if it continues to rise. Also worth mentioning is Everything Everything's Distant Past, which earned HSD honors last week. The song notches an impressive 32 position jump, moving from #72 - #40 in its second week on the chart. It marks the largest jump in a single week in 2016 (leading Genghis Khan by 8 slots!) and is tied for the third largest jump in chart history, matching chart staple My Demons from Starset. Watch out for this song if it continues its dominant run.
Top debut this week is the fifth track from current chart darlings Nothing But Thieves. If I Get High is a beautiful operatic number that showcases the heavenly tones of Conor Mason's voice. The debut at #59 is among the highest debuts of the year and signals a positive future for the incredible track. In at #67 is Eminence Front from The Who, a track that I had never heard until very recently. One of the great things about my chart rules is decades-old discoveries getting their chance to shine regardless of their age. Never listened to anything beyond the 70s from the band, and despite middling reviews I might have to dig another diamond from the rough in the future. My dig through Kasabian's back catalog is continuing without incident, as L.S.F. debuts at #78. Hopefully it can crack the Top 50 and near some of the top peaks that the 48:13 tracks managed. Alessia Cara's follow-up single Wild Things joins the crowd at #86. I'm not completely sold on this track and it won't match Here's impressive Top 5 peak, but her voice is still a strong highlight and the song could grow on me further as the weeks progress. Frank Turner dropped a companion EP with his single release of Mittens, and on it I found the newest entry, Least Of All Young Caroline. Not sure if the EP was comprised of the leftovers from Positive Songs For Negative People, but another song or two could chart from it in the future. A Spotify discovery, Plumage from Menomena debuts at #95 with an uncertain future but a high ceiling. Finally, experimental track The Yabba from Battles occupies the final slot at #100. This track takes a few minutes to get started so that may hurt a long chart run, but its uniqueness captured my attention recently.
On My Mind holds the Bubbling Under #1 slot, as I'm still split on whether to chart it or not. St. Louise Is Listening holds #1 on the Recurrent chart for a fourth straight week, making up for its #2-peaking near-miss on the main chart over the fall. It just holds off a challenge from R.E.M.'s The One I Love, which enters at #2. As the first quarter of the year winds down, the chart is still rolling 111 weeks after its inception.

Genghis Khan adds a second week to its rule, as Miike Snow holds off all challengers without much effort. Itch is on the (very slow) decline, but managed to stick at #2 this week. Wide Open gets the first positive move of the week, as The Chemical Brothers and Beck set up for a potential challenge to the #1 slot in the next few weeks. Robbed of their #1 chances, Run River North slide back to #4 as Run Or Hide starts to fall down the chart. Majesty gives Ghost their third straight Top 5 hit in as many tries. The song will probably struggle to repeat the chart-topping performance of its predecessors but has had an impressive run in its own right. Pretty Pimpin jumps through the Top 10 from #10 - #6 this week, as Kurt Vile looks towards the chart's ultimate peak. Latchkey Kids loses two places, down to #7 this week. I hope the track can be picked as the third radio single (if SSPU go that far), as it's my second favorite on the album. Return To The Moon seems to have peaked right outside the Top 5, and cracks under pressure dropping two spots this week. The one new entry to the Top 10 this week comes from Weezer, as recently announced second radio single King Of The World flies from #16 to #9. Watch out for this song in a week or two, it's the hottest song on the chart right now. Finally, Vice Grip drops to #10 as Parkway Drive earn their 15th week in the Top 10, a feat matched by only seven other tracks in chart history.
Bear Hands snatch the Hot Shot Debut this week with lead single 2AM from their upcoming album. It took a few listens to grow on me, but I really like the minimal production and the catchy chorus. It's already among my favorite tracks from the band, and with a strong debut at #68 it shouldn't take too much effort to outpeak the band's highest charting track Agora at #28 (not counting their feature on Big Data's Sick For Me, which hit #8). Next up is the chart's first re-entry since January, as Duke Dumont's Ocean Drive jumps back into the ranks at #73 after 24 weeks off, already beating the track's old peak at #87. Only Kongos' I Want To Know spent more time off the chart before its re-entry (29 Weeks), and re-entries on the chart have traditionally had mixed results. Even with history fighting against it I expect the song to have a really strong peak before dropping off once more. I may be running out of ...Like Clockwork tracks to chart, but that doesn't mean Josh Homme is going away anytime soon. Restless, an UNKLE track with the QoTSA frontman featured debuts at #79. Deftones get their first charting track with Prayers/Triangles at #85. With their upcoming Pulse Top 10 ballot I'm excited to familiarize myself with their full catalog. Kendrick Lamar's recent untitled umastered EP didn't grab me as much as most, but standout track untitled 02 | 06.23.2014 makes its way onto the chart at #91. Gay Nineties add Letterman to the ranks at #95 after ten long weeks Bubbling Under, becoming only the eighth track to hit the main chart after a 10+ week stint on the BU chart. Finally, Fightstar's Floods enters at #98, a discovery from one of the tournaments on the board that has potential to rise in future weeks.
On My Mind hits a third week atop the Bubbling Under chart, at a critical point where next week's placement will probably decide its main chart fate. The One I Love just missed the #1 Recurrent slot last week, but R.E.M. manage to leapfrog Soul Coughing for the title this week. Also of note, the whole chart broke a nearly year-old record, as the average weeks charted across all 100 songs is 10.83, the highest all-time. This is clearly supported by current 4th and 5th longest charting songs in history, Lydia and Trip Switch, who continue to push ever closer to Starset, Big Data, and Tame Impala. As the first quarter of the year winds down (already?!?), next week's chart should bring the statistics from that period, and shed some light on the early favorites for high YEC placements at the end of 2016.

Genghis Khan hits #1 for a third week as Miike Snow continue their strong hold on the chart. Itch has taken up residence at #2 after their four week run at #1, spending their third week in the runner-up slot. Wide Open continues the trend of no movement, holding at #3. The Chemical Brothers and Beck may be stuck with a #3 peak, as a large battle is unfolding for the next song to hit the top. Pretty Pimpin moves up two slots inside the Top 5 at #4. The laid back vibe of the track has zero burn rate and continued to receive heavy play throughout the week. Run Or Hide falls to #5 among a crowded field. King Of The World continues its momentum-filled surge through the Top 10, rising three positions. Weezer's impending release of their new self-titled album should boost the song even more for the next chart. Majesty falls to #7, likely breaking Ghost's streak of #1 hits. Look out for He Is to potentially surpass this song's peak. The first new entry to the top 10 is Kaleo's Way Down We Go, jumping to #8 as it continues to grow on Alternative. In the past week or so the track has become a heavy #1 contender. Latchkey Kids regresses to #9 with a solid run under its belt. Finally, I Miss The Girl becomes the third Soul Coughing track to hit the Top 10. Soul Coughing become the 15th artist to score three Top 10 hits. If my chart had some type of betting market, I'd say the odds for the #1 next week are 40% for Weezer, 30% for Kaleo, 25% for Vile, and 5% for Miike Snow. It's still a very tight race, and it should be interesting to see what happens next week, as these odds could change rapidly.
The top debut of the week is a song that I completely wrote off on title alone, and even after a few initial listens didn't grab me. But hearing it on the radio gave it the depth it initially lacked for some reason (or Stockholm Syndrome kicked in). The Sound Of Silence from Disturbed joins at #60 with room to grow. As an odd aside, the song become the third current "Sound" related song currently charting, joining The 1975 and Parkway Drive. Punchin' Bag becomes the fourth track to chart from Tell Me I'm Pretty. They still have yet to grab a Top 10 hit from the album (though Trouble is close), maybe this track can grow to that point. Let Me Live My Life start at #76 on the table after a lengthy 7 week run on the Bubbling Under chart. It may outpeak Better Place (#41), but it's a bit early to tell. Nine Lives arrives as the Turbowolf followup single at #83. I still haven't listened to their album but if I find another good track it should shoot up the to-do list. Marilyn Manson has charted quite a few songs from The Pale Emperor under the radar, and Cupid Carries A Gun enters at #88, perpetuating that trend. Electrify, a 2009 MUTEMATH track is in at #92, with a few tracks from their latest effort Monument on its heels. Finally, Last Dinosaurs push Zoom in at #98, a track that will have to fight to earn major chart success.
Mummy Dust surges to the Bubbling Under crown, set to be a surefire debut in a week or two. Lydia falls off the chart after 37 weeks, the 4th longest in chart history and the longest for a song that never peaked at #1. As a consolation prize Highly Suspect immediately move to the #1 Recurrent chart. Trip Switch logs its 36th week on the chart, moving closer to Carnivore's 39 week standard. The first quarter is over, get ready for the quarter countdown in a few days as well as the next chart this time next week.

As promised, here's the Top 50 tracks from the first quarter of the year. Itch passed Vice Grip in the final week to claim the title, though the two songs were well ahead of the rest of the field.

Weezer's King Of The World storms to the top of the chart in a highly competitive week. The group grab their first #1, boosted by my first listen of their self-titled White Album. They just edge out Way Down We Go from Kaleo, which may get its time in the sun very soon. Genghis Khan is forced to #3 with the insurgent songs displacing Miike Snow's 3-week #1 hit. Pretty Pimpin manages to stay afloat at #4 despite the heavy movement around Kurt Vile's track. Itch drops three slots after spending eight consecutive weeks in the Top 2 slots. Wide Open falls as well, down to #6 from its former Top 3 position. Run Or Hide is the final victim of the heavy competition, dropping two slots outside the Top 5. I Miss The Girl registers the first upward movement outside of the top two tracks, as Soul Coughing fight for their third Top 5 hit. The only new Top 10 hit this week is Clutch's The Regulator. The gravelly, southern rock track has moved up the chart slowly but steadily, and has an outside shot at a future Top 5 placement. Ghost's Majesty drops to #10, cementing its fate and clearing the way for He Is to potentially forge a Top 10 peak in the future.
Many of the debuting tracks over the past few weeks have been tracks I initially didn't connect with but later had a changed opinion. This week, Empire Of The Sun's Walking On A Dream receives those honors, and debuts at #67. Next up is Mike Posner's I Took A Pill In Ibiza. I had heard the current high-charting remix of the song but stumbled upon the original acoustic version this week and enjoyed it instantly. This should fly up the chart in a week or so. Kaleo chart their second track with No Good, a heavier take from the group that is currently moving up the Active chart. Royal Blood return to the chart after a several month absence, with Where Are You Now, a track from the collection of songs recorded for HBO's Vinyl. I'm still not sold on the song completely, but Fitz and the Tantrums' HandClap is an incredibly catchy song with a good pre-chorus. Hopefully the rest of their album leans back to their sound from 2013. Two former Bubbling Under tracks finish off the class of debuts this week, with Dustin Kensrue's Gallows at #94 and Welshly Arms' The Touch at #96. Both songs have a tough path ahead but could push for a higher peak.
Ghost holds the Bubbling Under crown with Mummy Dust, a track that should debut next week with high prospects for the future. The recurrent champion is still Lydia, though Kanye West's Runaway debuts at a very close #2 after a recent relisten of My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. That's it for this week, the second quarter of the year is now underway!

King Of The World holds off Kaleo's Way Down We Go for a second week and retains the #1 spot. Next week's defense of the throne should be even more difficult, but it could go either way. Pretty Pimpin sneaks past Genghis Khan for the #3 spot, in what will likely be its final peak with some quick-rising songs below. Itch spends its 13th week in the Top 10; holding just inside the Top 5. The Regulator jumps three slots, tailed somewhat closely by I Miss The Girl. Both songs look like Top 5 contenders, however some challengers await below. The biggest of these is Everything Everything's Distant Past, which made a five position jump in only its 6th week on the chart, and seems perpetually stuck in my head. Both good signs for future potential. Run Or Hide equals Nothing But Thieves with its 13th week in the Top 10, however this track is likely spending its final week in the top group. The good news? Followup 29 is already heading towards the Top 25. Finally, Ray LaMontagne earns his first ever Top 10 hit with Hey, No Pressure. His only other previous charter was Supernova(#55) back in 2014, but Ouroboros is on my album to-do list so he could up his tally very soon.
The Struts return to the chart, earning top debut honors with Only Just A Call Away at #69. The song really shows their Queen influences, and Luke Spiller's soaring vocals on the chorus really help to sell the track. Close behind is You and I from PVRIS, the radio single supporting the deluxe edition of their debut album, White Noise. The group has now entered five tracks into the ranks (including still-charting White Noise), but they haven't had a huge breakout hit. Maybe this can be the trendsetter. Hard Came The Rain follows in the gravelly rock footsteps of Clutch as Rag'n'Bone Man enters at #76. Ghost floats their fifth track onto the table with Mummy Dust. There are still at least two more songs waiting in the wings from Meliora. Catfish and the Bottlemen are back for their sophomore effort, and lead single Soundcheck establishes itself at #87. Looking forward to hearing their new project. Loud(y) from Lewis Del Mar debuts at #90, a song that seems to be a bit polarizing here but clicked with me immediately. I like the spontaneity of the song and the punching guitar. Finally, River enters at #95. The track is hovering near the bottom of the Alternative radio charts right now, but Bishop's powerful vocals should help boost it up in future weeks.
Kanye West grabs the top Bubbling Under slot with Famous following Ghost's departure for the Top 100. Now that the album is officially out on services people actually use I can give it a full listen and determine if any other tracks merit entry. In other Bubbling Under news, Portugal. The Man's Sugar Cinnamon drops off after 19 weeks, shattering Paolo Nutini's old record (Let Me Down Easy) by three weeks. The recurrent leader is still Lydia, though with several former #1s nearing the end of their main chart runs that may change very soon. Also in major record news, Trip Switch ties Dangerous and Let It Happen this week for the second-longest run in chart history. Nothing But Thieves are only one week away from Carnivore's 39 week record and two away from being the first song in chart history to last 40 weeks.

Everything Everything flies past the rest of the contenders to take #1 with Distant Past. The song moves from #8 to the top, which is the T-9th largest jump to #1 in history. King Of The World falls to 2nd after two weeks leading the field, though it could be quickly passed by the next two songs still searching for #1 glory. Way Down We Go and Pretty Pimpin each drop one position to accommodate the new leader, but could rebound to challenge for their own time at the peak in future weeks. The Regulator moves into a Top 5 position, potentially its peak with the tough Top 4 above. Genghis Khan falls to #6 after its three week reign, I have to look at Miike Snow's new album to search for a followup, all I've listened to so far is Heart Is Full and that didn't grab me. Itch drops to #7, making room for two more rising Nothing But Thieves tracks. Hey, No Pressure grabs two more slots in its second week in the Top 10, as Ray LaMontagne attempts to fight to a Top 5 peak. The only new track in the Top 10 is the second radio single from Better Nature, Silversun Pickups' Circadian Rhythm (Last Dance). Moving from #16 to #9, the song appears to be headed to an impressive peak on the chart. Still haven't heard it on the radio, but the song continues to grow on me each time I hear it. Finally, I Miss The Girl loses three spots en route to a Top 10 exit.
Kongos makes their grand return to the chart as Take It From Me grabs highest debut honors at #55. The group charted five tracks from their last album Lunatic, with the two big radio singles holding Top 10 peaks. With Egomanic's release date on the horizon, hopefully the group can deliver another solid project and chart a similar amount of tracks. Another Alternative artist returns with Young the Giant charting Amerika at #65. The group charted all three singles from Mind Over Matter, with It's About Time being one of the 100 songs on the first ever weekly chart. This single is more laid back but has some anthemic elements that help it lodge itself into your brain. Jake Bugg is also back with a different upbeat take on his usual classic sound. Gimme The Love enters at #73, but expect a huge jump next week. Holy White Hounds enter at #84 with Switchblade, straddling the lower reaches of both the Alternative and Active radio charts. Sunset Sons offer She Wants at #89, a catchy track with a unique vocalist that strikes me as a superior Coleman Hell. Chris Stapleton logs his second chart entry with Tennessee Whiskey, which I've been hearing regularly on my local AAA station. Hopefully he can outpeak Nobody To Blame(#92), which struggled to leave the lower ranks. Finally, Puscifer's The Remedy rounds out the debuts at #97, a haunting track with mocking lyrics that has an eerie, slow build.
Kanye holds down the Bubbling Under field for a second week with Famous, expect a debut in a week or two. Nightlight falls off the chart after 35 long weeks, marking the T-6th longest run in chart history. As a consolation prize Silversun Pickups snatch the Recurrent title from Highly Suspect after Lydia held the crown for three weeks. In other chart longevity news, Trip Switch ties the all-time longest chart run record of 39 weeks, matching Starset's Carnivore. Currently sitting at #72, Nothing But Thieves is sure to be the first track to last 40+ weeks on the main chart. The song first entered the week of July 29th, 2015 before it was even sent to radio and spent 13 long weeks climbing to #1. Boosted by an On The Verge pick on Alternative radio and later a #1 Alt peak, the track has been a chart mainstay for an incredibly long time and is deserving of the record. How much longer can it last? Find out in a few weeks...

Distant Past continues to hold a firm lead over the rest of the field as Everything Everything spend their second week at the top. Both Way Down We Go and Pretty Pimpin recover one position to #2 and #3 respectively, but will have to push hard to overcome the current leaders. King Of The World falls back to #4 after manning the top slot for two weeks. The Regulator grabs its second week at #5, pursued by several fast-rising tracks. Silversun Pickups are the first of these, as Circadian Rhythm moves up three positions and prepares for its Top 5 peak. Hey No, Pressure calmly moves up one slot to #7, Ouroborous is on my album to-do list for this week so maybe that can give the track a boost. Genghis Khan declines two positions in its ninth week in the Top 10. The only song entering the Top 10 this week is 2AM from Bear Hands. The group's highest previous peak (outside of a #8-peaking feature on Big Data's Sick For Me) was Agora at #28. With their new lead single at #9 this may signify a good trend for the future. Finally Itch drops to #10, in the process becoming only the 8th song to spend 15+ weeks in the Top 10 (as well as the only artist with two songs passing that milestone).
My first dive into Everything Everything's discography was a listen of their sophomore album Arc. I enjoyed several tracks, but lead single Cough Cough earned followup status debuting at #52. The debut is the second highest of the year and certainly not the last from the unique group. Current high-charting AAA track Off The Ground from the record company makes its entry at #71 after a short one week stay in the Bubbling Under lodge. Next in are a few lead singles, the first being Empty from Garbage at #78. I'm not sure if the track will fare well on Alternative given the current climate, but I hope it can defy expectations. Also returning with new music is Beartooth, with their lead single Aggressive in at #81. The group previously grabbed one of the most surprising #1s in chart history with In Between back in August. Not sure if this will reach those lofty heights, but it does have another incredibly catchy chorus. Now that The Life Of deleted has been on Spotify for a bit Kanye can finally start his charting streak. Current radio single Famous joins at #86 after leading the Bubbling Under field for a few weeks. Close behind is DRUGS from DREAMERS (not sure why the names are both stylized in caps) at #88. The group previously charted with Wolves(You Got Me)(#92); this track has already surpassed that mark. Finally Fashion from The Royal Concept debuts at #96 after a ridiculous 16 weeks Bubbling Under. This breaks the record for longest Bubbling Under run ending in a debut (held by Back Seat from Atlas Genius) by two weeks.
Sailing To Nowhere rises to the #1 spot in the Bubbling Under crowd as a potential followup to ex-#1 It's That Talk Again. Not sure if it can make the full jump though. Nightlight grabs a second week leading the Recurrent field despite a heavy challenge from one of this week's dropouts, Wake Up Call from Nothing But Thieves. Speaking of Nothing But Thieves, Trip Switch reaches what may be the most impressive milestone so far in chart history as it spends it 40th consecutive week on the Top 100. It probably has a few weeks left in the tank to extend the record, but the mark is one that I can't see being beaten for a while.

Made it through another semester with the chart intact. Distant Past continues to sit far above the rest of the field with a third week at #1. Pretty Pimpin and Way Down We Go have settled for battling it out for the #2 slot, with Kurt Vile emerging victorious this week. Silversun Pickups move to #4 with Circadian Rhythm, boosted a bit by Silversun Pickups being the current Pulse Top 10s artist. King Of The World retreats one position to #5, as Hey, No Pressure rises to #6. The contenders for the Top 5 will become quite crowded in a week or two, another of the top names is 2AM from Bear Hands, continuing its push upwards to #7. Haven't listened to Marathon Man yet but probably will once the second single search begins. The Regulator falls three positions after an impressive #5 peak. Former #1 Genghis Khan spends its 10th week in the Top 10, falling to #9. Finally, Ocean Drive from Duke Dumont enters the Top 10 in the final slot after 13 weeks charting. The song becomes the first track to re-enter the chart and peak in the Top 10, passing the old highest mark from a re-entering track (Death Cab For Cutie's Black Sun at #21).
Top entry of the week goes to the much awaited return of Radiohead, with Burn The Witch leading the class of debuts at #60. The song is catchy but very unsettling, and Thom Yorke's high-pitched moaning soaring over the strings really fleshes out the single. Expect this to move up the ranks quickly. Next up is Get Out from Frightened Rabbit, who previously spent three weeks Bubbling Under with The Woodpile in January 2015. This time they escape the BU ranks after two weeks with at #71 debut and a lot of momentum for next week. Wolfmother chart Victorious at #76, a song with a killer chorus and driving verses that I only heard for the first time this week despite its charting on Active weeks earlier. Weezer chart their fourth song from the white album, as L.A. Girlz enters at #83. 888's Critical Mistakes joins at #87, fortunately one slot higher than what would have been way too many 8's to deal with. ...Like Clockwork, title track from Queens Of The Stone Age's most recent album enters at #91, giving the band the impressive feat of charting every single song(10) from an album. The song enters nearly two years after I Sat By The Ocean (and its 4-week, #93 peaking run that I really regret now). Finally, Swings & Waterslides enters at #96, a track from the band Viola Beach with a sad story attached that prompted my discovery of it.
Sailing To Nowhere spends its second week leading the Bubbling Under field; I'm unsure if it will debut on the main chart or not. Frontier Psychiatrist, a sample-heavy track from The Avalanches unseats SSPU for the Recurrent crown. It becomes the first "Gold" #1 on the chart since R.E.M.'s The One I Love about a month ago. Trip Switch continues its record-breaking run with a 41st consecutive week charting. Can it hang on one more week to reach 42 weeks? Check back here in a week to find out.

I thought the milestone Queens Of The Stone Age achieved this week was so rare it deserved its own post. If you didn't read the writeup (and they tend to get really long so I don't blame you), as of this week's chart all 10 songs from ...Like Clockwork have entered the ranks of the main chart. Not sure if this will ever happen again, but if it does that band will probably receive a similar post. Looking back at the stats, I Sat By The Ocean's pathetic #93 peak stands out as a regret, as well as I Appear Missing only peaking at #15 (it has now become one of my favorite tracks from the band). But the runs are final, and the album still produced two Top 10 hits as well as several other Top 20 peaking tracks. Here's the history of all the tracks from ...Like Clockwork in the order they first entered the main chart. # | | Entry | Peak | PK | WC | 1 | I Sat By The Ocean | 5/21/2014 | 5/28/2014 | 93 | 4 | 2 | Smooth Sailing | 11/12/2014 | 1/21/2015 | 5 | 26 | 3 | If I Had A Tail | 12/24/2014 | 3/4/2015 | 15 | 19 | 4 | My God Is The Sun | 4/8/2015 | 6/10/2015 | 15 | 16 | 5 | I Appear Missing | 4/29/2015 | 7/29/2015 | 16 | 20 | 6 | Kalopsia | 7/29/2015 | 10/28/2015 | 38 | 18 | 7 | Keep Your Eyes Peeled | 10/21/2015 | 12/2/2015 | 66 | 8 | 8 | The Vampyre Of Time And Memory | 12/2/2015 | 2/24/2016 | 10 | 21 | 9 | Fairweather Friends | 1/27/2016 | TBD | 33 | 15* | 10 | …Like Clockwork | 5/4/2016 | TBD | 91 | 1* |
*Indicates song is still charting as of 5/4/2016 chart. Also feel free to view this as an endorsement for this album. If you've tried out one or two of the singles and enjoyed them but haven't listened to the whole project, I strongly recommend it.

Distant Past becomes only the 11th song in chart history to spend 4+ weeks at the #1 slot, still holding off all challengers by a large margin. Pretty Pimpin remains the #2 song but should begin its descent shortly. Circadian Rhythm moves to #3, becoming the second-highest peaking SSPU track of all-time. Way Down We Go falls to #4 as 2AM from Bear Hands gives the Brooklyn group their first Top 5 hit. Hey, No Pressure holds at #6 and King Of The World drops to #7, pursued closely by several fast-rising tracks. Ocean Drive continues its forward momentum grabbing two more spots at #8. Nothing But Thieves grab their 4th Top 10 hit with If I Get High jumping to #9, putting the group in a select list of 5 artists who have notched 4+ Top 10 hits. Another newcomer to the same group are Ghost, earning 4th Top 10 as He Is climbs to #10 after 16 long weeks charting. Both groups could easily add to their Top 10 totals very soon (maybe even challenging the 6-song record currently held by Portugal. The Man)
After initial uncertainty and several more listens, Dark Necessities really grew on me (especially as an improvement over Rain Dance Maggie) and stormed to the top debut at #52. It ties Everything Everything for the 2nd-highest debut of the year, and should make good progress in the weeks ahead. Moving down the chart, Nothing But Thieves earn their sixth charting track as Drawing Pins joins at #69. As with all of their tracks so far it should have a very good shot at hitting the Top 10 eventually. Highly Suspect continue their relatively quiet but plentiful era from Mister Asylum, charting Vanity at #76 after some Bubbling Under time. Close behind is Cold Cold Cold, the fifth track from Tell Me I'm Pretty to chart. Expect a massive jump for this next week as the track was incredible at the live show I went to this week. White Denim chart their first song since 2014 with Ha Ha Ha Ha (Yeah), current single from their recent project Stiff. I plan to check out more from the album soon so they might earn another entry in the future. Not The One attempts to followup The Heavy's #74-peaking Since You Been Gone with a #87 debut. I think the song may have deserved the radio single nod over its predecessor but it's too late to change that now. These Things at #94 give She Wants Revenge their second charting track. It should start its true climb in a few weeks as Tear You Apart fights for a Top 10 peak. Finally, Peter Bjorn and John enter with What You Talking About? at #96. Still unsure if this has high prospects, but time will tell.
Sailing To Nowhere holds the BU #1 slot for a third week, with its Main Chart chances looking bleak. Frontier Psychiatrist spends a second week atop the Recurrent chart, just barely fighting off two former #1s in Cirice and It's That Talk Again. The chart is approaching an important milestone which will most likely be celebrated next week. Until then, that's the news for this week.

Prior to this week only 7 songs had earned five or more weeks at #1. Distant Past becomes the eighth, and may tie the all-time record next week if it continues its strong pace. Circadian Rhythm and Pretty Pimpin trade spots at #2 and #3, both songs have a chance (albeit small) to hit #1 next chart if they have a great week. 2AM hits #4 and has the most forward momentum of any song in the Top 5. Hey, No Pressure ascends to #5 in its 6th week in the Top 10, as Way Down We Go drops out of the Top 5 after 6 weeks within that elite group. If I Get High continues the tradition of impressive peaks for Nothing But Thieves, and if it can move up two more slots the UK group will grab their fourth Top 5 hit. Ocean Drive holds at #8 and may struggle to hit the Top 5. King Of The World slides to #9 as Weezer make room for potential future hits. Finally, He Is holds at #10, stopping any new songs from entering the Top 10 this week for the first time in a while.
Last week I attended a phenomenal concert highlighted by Cage the Elephant and Portugal. The Man. Those two groups controlled many of the big movers and debuts throughout the various charts this week. Leading off the field is Head Like A Flame(Cool With It), a track from PtM's In The Mountain In The Cloud that I somehow never charted back in 2014 when the Alaska group dominated the chart. It was a great addition to their setlist and earns the top debut at #63. Chevelle returns with a new project, and lead single Joyride (Omen) enters at #68. It isn't as immediate as #15-peaking Take Out The Gunman, but has a lot of potential to grow on me in the coming weeks. Continuing the joyride, Mutemath offer their own Joy Rides at #77, a coincidence I didn't notice until finalizing my chart right before posting. The catchy cut from Vitals has a shot at becoming their highest peaker (#45 Typical currently holds that honor). Hard rock band Monster Truck debuts Don't Tell Me How To Live at #83; the chorus really sells this song. Silversun Pickups were the most recent featured artist on my Pulse Top 10s project, and a relisten of Better Nature let Tapedeck debut at #87, with another track or two waiting down the line. Arkells return with a piano-driven lead single in Private School. It joins at #93 and doesn't come close to the level of Leather Jacket(#7), but could carve out a modest run. Finally, supergroup Gone Is Gone draft Violescent at #97 to round out the list of debuts.
With the seven new entries this week my chart has now reached exactly 1,000 charting songs over its 2+ year history, an impressive milestone that is hard for me to believe. Missing out on the celebration is Expecations from Sir Sly, though they grab Bubbling Under #1 honors from Broken Bells as some consolation. The Recurrents section is littered with songs from the two bands I saw live, with Spiderhead making a grand re-entry to the chart to claim the #1 slot just ahead of Portugal. The Man's Atomic Man. Expect both groups to continue to have impressive runs (especially if the Portugal. The Man album releases soon!).

Distant Past becomes only the third song in chart history to spend six week's at the chart's peak position, tying Hollow Moon (Bad Wolf) and Trip Switch for the longest run at #1 in chart history. I'm currently unsure if a seventh week is in the cards but it's not impossible. Circadian Rhythm (Last Dance) holds at #2 with an outside shot at capturing the title next chart. 2AM continues its slow rise through the Top 10, moving from #4 to the bronze position. Pretty Pimpin falls back to #4 with its chances at #1 likely in jeopardy. If I Get High rises to #5 and becomes the fourth Top 5 hit for Nothing But Thieves, tying Portugal. The Man for that record. Hey, No Pressure is under pressure to fight for a higher peak, and drops one slot to #6 this week. Take It From Me is in close pursuit with a solid four position jump to move into the Top 10. Kongos grab their third Top 10, with the peaks of I'm Only Joking(#4) and Come With Me Now(#6) serving as benchmarks for the lead single to beat. Ocean Drive spends a third straight week at #8 as its unlikely run into the Top 10 from a re-entry may be nearing its end. Way Down We Go falls to #9 as No Good picks up the slack for Kaleo and enters the Top 50. Finally Hard Came The Rain from Rag'n'Bone Man drives into the Top 10 from #14, a soulful hard rock track that has had a steady rise up the ranks over the past few months.
Ghost leads off this week's class of debuts with their sixth chart entry, Absolution at #69. Mummy Dust is still climbing at a steady pace but this new track has already built more momentum and may pass it in a few weeks. The Revivalists enter with Wish I Knew You at #76, a followup to Keep Going(#83) from the same album and Criminal(#14), which had an impressive run at the end of 2015. The Blue Stones, best known on this chart for their #6-peaking Rolling With The Punches in early 2015 are back with a new album and a new chart entry. Black Holes(Solid Ground) joins at #81 and should make a nice dent in the ranks in a few weeks. Misinformed debuts at #86 and may mark the final song in the second wave of Soul Coughing that was prompted by the addition of El Oso on Spotify nearly a year ago. Glass Animals return with a new lead single, offering Life Itself at #89. Their previous best charter was Pools(#19); this new track has a chance to grow on me in the coming weeks and maybe challenge that mark. The Arcs continue their impressive streak of charting songs with Pistol Made Of Bones at #93 after a stint in the Bubbling Under chart. Finally, Death Grips return to the chart with Spikes at #95; the song is from their new project Bottomless Pit and is another addition to the ranks for the unique group.
Expectations grabs a second week at #1 on the Bubbling Under chart with a good chance to debut next week. Meanwhile on the Recurrent chart Trip Switch claims the top slot as its unprecedented 43-week main chart run finally comes to a close. It's tough to say how long that mark will stand but right now it seems unbeatable, and Nothing But Thieves should enjoy a lengthy run on the Recurrent chart to add to the legacy of the legendary track.

Kongos establish the 45th #1 in chart history as Take It From Me rises from #7 to steal the throne from Distant Past after Everything Everything's record-tying 6 weeks stint at #1. The South African group of brothers previously charted five songs from their major label debut, and Come With Me Now may have hit #1 had the chart started a bit earlier. I'm excited to hear their next full project as soon as it drops to see if any other hits lie within. 2AM sits at #3 for a second week, likely at its final peak. If I Get High moves to #4 in an effort to give Nothing But Thieves their third #1. Circadian Rhythm drops down to #5 as Pretty Pimpin falls to #6, both tracks missing out on a chance at the ultimate peak. Hard Came The Rain gains three spots in its second week in the Top 10, slotting in at #7. Get Out is the lone new track in the Top 10 with an impressive 9 spot jump. After three weeks at #8 Ocean Drive finally regresses to #9, leapfrogged on its descent by Hey, No Pressure. Follow-up singles have yet to be decided for Duke Dumont and Ray LaMontagne. Also notable is a 32 position jump from Joyride(Omen). Chevelle's lead single ties the largest single week jump of 2016, and grabs the T-3rd all-time mark on that chart.
In a week of unconventional debuts, Black Pistol Fire earn the highest debut of the week with Suffocation Blues at #68. The rock track is tailed closely by Pride from Manchester Orchestra, entering at #71 after 11 weeks on the Bubbling Under chart. It joins a group of four other songs to make the jump to the main chart after 11+ BU weeks. The Moth & The Flame return to the ranks with Red Flag at #78, the group previously had a long-lasting minor hit with Young & Unafraid(#17) and could followup that success here. Kongos supplement their new #1 hit with a new debut, as I Don't Mind charts at #80. Bishop Briggs re-enters the chart with River at #85. The song had a small three week run peaking at #92 but a few more radio plays and a name change brought the song back above water. Hearts/Wires marks a followup effort for Deftones at #89. Lead single Prayers/Triangles(#75) should be a good target to chase. Benjamin Booker charts his third song with Slow Coming at #91. I should really check out his album since I've only heard (and enjoyed) the three charters. Sir Sly make their return to the chart with Expectations at #96, an extended cut that doesn't seem to be attached to any project.
Everything Everything capture the BU #1 slot with Kemosabe, a track sure to chart soon. Cage the Elephant continue their post-concert bump on the charts as Aberdeen rises to claim #1 on the Recurrent chart. That's it for this week, Q2 2016 is nearing conclusion so look out for a first half of 2k16 countdown soon.

Take It From Me spends a second week at #1 as Distant Past holds at #2 in its recovery from a long 6-week #1 run. Both songs should expect some challengers soon, one being If I Get High looking to grab Nothing But Thieves a record-breaking 3rd #1 hit. 2AM drops to #4 and has likely peaked to make room for other cuts from Bear Hands' new record. Pretty Pimpin gets a small rebound to #5 due to some songs falling quicker however shouldn't get a new peak. Get Out moves up two positions in its second week in the Top 10, and continues to make a strong case for a #1 placement in the future. Hard Came The Rain sticks at #7 and should continue to rise slowly over the next few weeks. The first new Top 10 track is Burn The Witch; Radiohead bursts onto the scene with a 6 slot jump as their track perpetually stays stuck in my head. Circadian Rhythm suffers the biggest drop within the Top 10 down to #9, but more tracks from Better Nature could fill the void later. Gimme The Love is the second new T10 track with a cautious one position move. Despite how jarring the sound of this single is to his past material I'm still really enjoying it. Top debut of the week is Beck's new single Wow at #58. I'm a massive Beck fan so the song would have likely charted regardless of its quality, but despite not wowing me it's a unique single choice that makes me intrigued to see what his recently announced album will sound like. This probably won't enjoy the same success Dreams did. Young The Giant's lead single Something To Believe In charges in at #66 to hopefully top buzz single Amerika's somewhat disappointing #48 peak. The track has more of a rhythm to it and could match the group's highest previous peak down the line (Mind Over Matter, #34). Everything Everything chart their third song as Kemosabe enters at #72. I still haven't listened to Get To Heaven yet but as soon as the string of Arc singles finish their runs I'll fit it in my schedule. Citizen Zero's Go (Let Me Save You) sounds like a classic Shinedown track and joins at #78 as it heads for ads on Active. Bear Hands move in with a followup effort as Marathon Man debuts at #81. I haven't heard much from Thrice in the past; this week In Exile was my first real exposure to the group and I was hooked. It's in at #84 and more listening of the group should follow soon. Vant's Do You Know Me joins at #88 after one week Bubbling Under. Finally The Kooks chart It Was London at #98 the fifth song from Listen to enter the main ranks. Can't Come Down moves to #1 on the Bubbling Under chart, replacing Everything Everything's recently minted main chart track. Run River North should continue their strong string of hits over the next few months. Aberdeen spends a second week leading the Recurrent field, holding off a strong challenge from Ghost's From The Pinnacle To The Pit.

Burn The Witch storms from #8 to the crown, displacing Kongos after their two week reign at the top. If I Get High remains at #3 with a slight but fading chance at giving Nothing But Thieves their third #1 hit. The other big mover within the top 10 is Frightened Rabbit, as Get Out moves into the Top 5 with a two place jump. The new face in the Top 10 is Chevelle as Joyride(Omen) bursts from #15 to #6, giving the Chicago group their first Top 10 hit. The single seems to be destined for greater things, and a #1 slot could materialize in the near future. Pretty Pimpin drops to #6 in its 14th week in the Top 10, T-9th all-time longest run in chart history. 2AM loses four positions and Hard Came The Rain drops two slots, both songs having already peaked. Gimme The Love holds at #10 and Jake Bugg still has some upward momentum left.
Young Guns dropped what I think is a lead single to their new album out of nowhere, and Bulletproof quickly appeared at #66 this week on the chart. Looking forward to their new project. Brick + Mortar previously charted with Locked In A Cage(#42) and return with Train at #72. The song is catchy as usual and should make good progress on the chart. Miike Snow's second radio single My Trigger moves in at #78, hoping to capitalize on the strong momentum 3-week #1 Genghis Khan established. Garage rockers Band Of Skulls join with Himalayan at #82, a track with a fiery chorus and a steady beat that I discovered last week. HandClap makes a re-entry at #84, partially because the song has grown on me over the last month or so and partially because it's sadly one of the best tracks on the new Fitz and the Tantrums album. The last three debuts all come from last week's Bubbling Under crowd. Lonely Hunter gives Foals their fifth charter from What Went Down, though its final peak is very uncertain at the moment. Kanye enters with Wolves at #94, the third track from The Life Of deleted to debut so far. Finally, Robert DeLong brings a likely close to the In The Cards era with Future's Right Here at #97. The song escaped BU territory after 8 weeks and marks the 7th song from his recent project to make the Top 100, an era which saw a #1 hit as well as a strong #2 peaking single.
Can't Come Down spends a second week leading the BU chart but should debut very soon, as From The Pinnacle To The Pit surges to #1 on the Recurrent chart in its second week in the group. Latchkey Kids and Vice Grip both fall off this week after 31 long weeks charting, leaving Rabbits Foot the sole holder of the longest active run title (32 weeks). The second quarter of 2016 is wrapping up, stay tuned for the upcoming countdowns!

Burn The Witch stands strong for a second week at #1, holding off If I Get High from giving Nothing But Thieves their third #1. Take It From Me drops to #3, but could rebound as I'm listening to Egomaniac sometime this week. Get Out stalls at #4 for now, but with the impressive momentum it had a few weeks ago it could easily return to winning form shortly. Joyride(Omen) is still going strong, surging into the Top 5 and giving Chevelle their first hit in that category. Distant Past falls to #6, expect Everything Everything to invade the chart over the next few months, as I'm currently addicted to Get To Heaven. Gimme The Love strongarms its way to #7, passing a few falling songs. Pretty Pimpin numbers among those tracks, but at #8 it holds in the Top 10 for a 15th week, T-5th longest all-time. The Record Company lead off two new Top 10 entries with Off The Ground at #9. The other is Dark Necessities from the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Both songs have hit #1 (or should shortly) on Rock formats this year, but may struggle to do the same here.
The Dead Dog is the highest debut this week, extending Portugal. The Man's record for most tracks by any artist on the chart(22). The song moves in at #58 but may soon have to compete with their rumored lead single in a month or so. You Don't Get Me High Anymore enters at #75; Phantogram's lead single is their catchiest yet and stands a chance at challenging the peaks of Fall In Love (#20) or Black Out Days (#16). Graveyard Whistling bursts off the Bubbling Under chart to #78 on the main chart, and should be in the Top 10 like most of Nothing But Thieves' entries soon enough. Broken Bones is the first track to enter post my first listen of A/B, but more should follow as I enjoyed most of the album. X Ambassadors released the deluxe edition of VHS, and while I wasn't a fan of the original edition Collider instantly grabbed my attention out of the new tracks. Featuring Tom Morello from RATM it showcases a heavier sound for the band, which is imo where they excel. Too Late To Say Goodbye continues the impressive streak of Tell Me I'm Pretty spurred on by the Cage the Elephant concert I attended recently. Can't Come Down debuts at #94 after leading the BU field. Finally, Metric's Sick Muse closes out the class of debuts at #96. I really need to check out more of their past albums, I've liked most of what I've heard.
No Reptiles foreshadows a new era of Everything Everything dominance on the chart, entering at #1 on the Bubbling Under slate. From The Pinnacle To The Pit holds down the Recurrent #1, as Trouble enters at #3 after an impressive 29-week main chart run. Next week marks the end of the first quarter, the countdown will follow sometime that week!

Chevelle move in at the #1 spot, as Joyride(Omen) steals the throne in its 7th week on the chart. Burn The Witch is forced down to #2, but should have an impressive Top 10 life left. If I Get High loses a position for the first week ever in its 16 week run, but still has a slim shot at rebounding to the top position. Get Out is in a similar situation, stuck at #4 for a third straight week with the window closing on a higher peak. Take It From Me falls to #5, still recovering from its 2-week reign. Jake Bugg snags #6 as Gimme The Love moves up one position. Distant Past moves down to #7 in its 12th week in the Top 10. Dark Necessities continues its rise, up to #8 this week with Top 5 aspirations. The only new entry this week is Cough Cough, the second track from Everything Everything to make the Top 10, and most certainly not the last. Finally, Off The Ground drops to #10, but should spend a few weeks treading water before beginning its descent.
Everything Everything enter No Reptiles at #60 on the chart, highest debut for the week and a signal of much greater things to come. Get To Heaven is a truly great album and most of it should make its way onto the ranks eventually. Shaking Like An Animal from Crash Kings is in next at #72, I really love the piano driven rock from these guys, shame they only have one hit. Bath Salts continues the good run that Highly Suspect have had in the past 6 months. Joining at #74, it has a decent chance at passing Bloodfeather's(#18) peak. After a first listen of Catfish and the Bottlemen's sophomore effort, Red enters at #84. I wasn't as much of a fan of this project (it got a bit too samey by the end) but there are still some solid tracks that will get some airtime in the next few months. Daydreaming jumps from #2 Bubbling Under to #88 on the main chart, and should give Radiohead a solid followup track. Good Grief debuts at #91; the lead single from Bastille has slowly grown on me and I am excited to hear their upcoming project. Smoke joins at #96 as You & I begins to fall, giving PVRIS a new shot at a higher peak. Finally, Lonely The Brave log Dust & Bones at #98, a song I heard for the first time just before finalizing the chart, and liked it enough for it to sneak in an entry.
Beartooth snatch the #1 Bubbling Under spot with The Lines, it should make its official debut next week. From The Pinnacle To The Pit holds the Recurrent throne for a third week, holding off a challenge this week from Rabbits Foot, the Turbowolf track dropping off after 33 long weeks on the main chart. The second quarter is finished, expect countdown info to appear in the next day or so!

feels like it's been forever since I've posted here, and looking at the last post it has (late June ) Moving all of my charts over to Crownnote combined with a crazy busy summer + semester made me slack off on the posting in this thread, but worry not as the chart lives on. No big Year-End celebration this time around, but I did make a Year-End video I thought I'd share in here. I've made one for each year of the chart so far, but this is the first one I've felt happy enough with to post in the thread. Thanks for watching the chart over the years and maybe I'll return to posting here at some point in the future. For now, you can follow my chart on Crownnote!
