As expected, Disney's soundtrack to "Frozen" refuses to budge from the No. 1 slot on the Billboard 200. The set spends a lucky 13th nonconsecutive week at No. 1, selling 106,000 copies (down 8 percent) in the week ending May 4, according to Nielsen SoundScan. "Frozen" is now one of only 39 albums in the history of the chart to have spent at least 13 weeks at No. 1. (The Billboard 200 became a regularly published weekly list in 1956.) Only five albums have racked exactly 13 weeks at No. 1. In addition to "Frozen," they are: the original Broadway cast recording of "Hair" (in 1969), the Monkees' self-titled debut (1966), Judy Garland's "Judy at Carnegie Hall" (1961) and Enoch Light/Terry Snyder and the All-Stars' "Persuasive Percussion" (1960). "Frozen" also logs its 10th nonconsecutive week of sales exceeding 100,000 copies. The last album to tally as many weeks of 100,000-plus sales was Taylor Swift's "Red." Its first 10 weeks all logged sales of more than 100,000, through the week ending Dec. 30, 2012. Cumulative sales for “Frozen” now stand at 2.6 million, of which 2.2 million have been sold in 2014. At No. 2 on the Billboard 200 is classical crossover violinist Lindsey Stirling, whose second album, "Shatter Me," debuts with 56,000. It easily scores the dance-meets-classical artist her best sales week and highest-charting album. The new independently distributed effort also hits No. 1 on Independent Albums, Classical Crossover Albums and Dance/Electronic Albums. It follows her breakthrough self-titled release, which bowed in 2012 and has sold 327,000 copies. It peaked at No. 23 on the Billboard 200 and spent 37 nonconsecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Classical Crossover Albums chart — the sixth-longest run at No. 1 in the chart's 20-year history. It also spent two weeks at No. 1 on the Dance/Electronic Albums chart. As "Shatter Me" makes its debut on the Billboard 200, her first album jumps 77-42 with 7,000 sold (up 63 percent). "Shatter Me" is also the highest-charting independently distributed album on the Billboard 200 since Garth Brooks' Walmart-exclusive boxed set "Blame It All on My Roots" spent three consecutive weeks in the top two (through the week ending Dec. 22, 2013). Ray LaMontagne's "Supernova" starts at No. 3 with 40,000, while the Passion collective's live effort "Take It All" enters at No. 4 with 30,000. "Supernova" is the third top 10 album for LaMontagne, following two earlier No. 3-peaking titles. His last release, 2010's "God Willin' & the Creek Don't Rise," debuted and peaked at that spot with 64,000 copies. Passion's "Take It All" album was recorded live at the Passion Christian conferences held earlier this year in Atlanta and Houston. It features such stars of the genre as Chris Tomlin, Crowder and Matt Redman. This is the third consecutive top 10 album for the collective, following "Passion: White Flag" (No. 5 in 2012) and "Let the Future Begin" (No. 4 in 2013). Iggy Azalea's "The New Classic" dips 3-5 with 23,000 in its second week (down 57 percent), Pharrell's "G I R L" slips 4-6 with 22,000 (up 3 percent), and Future's "Honest" falls 2-7 with 20,000 in its second frame (down 63 percent). Pop duo Timeflies arrives at No. 8 with its second album, "After Hours," which sells nearly 20,000. The set, released on Island Records, is the act's first full-length release for a major label following the indie set "The Scotch Tape" in 2011. Since then, it has charted two EPs: "One Night" (No. 29) and "Warning Signs" (No. 36). Luke Bryan's "Crash My Party" descends 7-9 with 17,000 (down 13 percent). Closing out the top 10 is rock band Whitechapel, scoring its best sales week and highest-charting album ever with the bow of "Our Endless War" at No. 10 (16,000). The act logged its previous high with 2010's "A New Era of Corruption," which debuted and peaked at No. 43 with 11,000 copies. Over on the Digital Songs chart, Ariana Grande earns the eighth-largest debut ever for a download, as her "Problem" starts at No. 1 with 438,000 sold. It's also the largest arrival for a song this year, and the biggest since Katy Perry's "Roar" debuted with 557,000 downloads in the week ending Aug. 18, 2013. "Problem" features Azalea, who herself jumps from No. 6 to No. 2 with her own song, "Fancy," featuring Charli XCX. "Fancy" sold 222,000 downloads (up 104 percent). With the jump, Azalea becomes only the fifth artist to occupy the top two slots of Digital Songs at the same time, and the first to do so since 2012. The last artist to rule with both the No. 1 and No. 2 songs in the same week was Swift in the sales week ending Sept. 9, 2012. That week, she ruled the Digital Songs chart with "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" (284,000) and "Ronan" (211,000), respectively. Back in the present day, Pharrell's "Happy" falls from No. 1 after an 11-week reign, slipping to No. 3 with 174,000 sold (down 16 percent). John Legend's "All of Me" slides 2-4 with 161,000 (down 14 percent). Coldplay's "A Sky Full of Stars" is the second debut in the top 10, as it starts with 139,000 at No. 5 with only three full days of sales. (It was released at 12 a.m. on Friday, May 2.) Bolstered by a performance of the track on NBC's "Saturday Night Live" on May 3, "Stars" enters with Coldplay's biggest sales week since 2008 ("Viva la Vida," with 246,000 in the week ending June 15). "A Sky Full of Stars" is the third pre-release song from the band's upcoming album "Ghost Stories," which will arrive May 19. DJ Snake & Lil Jon's "Turn Down for What" falls 5-6 with 126,000 (down 4 percent), while Rixton's "Me and My Broken Heart" zooms 25-7 with 111,000 (up 99 percent). During the tracking week ending May 4, the group performed on NBC's "The Voice" (April 28) and "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" (May 1). Jason Derulo's "Talk Dirty," featuring 2 Chainz, drops 3-8 with 99,000 (down 31 percent). Idina Menzel's "Let It Go" falls 4-9 with 91,000 (down 32 percent), and Ed Sheeran's "Sing" holds at No. 10 with 86,000 (up 7 percent). Overall album sales in this past chart week (ending April 27) totaled 4.4 million units, up 2 percent compared with the sum last week (4.3 million) and down 14 percent compared with the comparable sales week of 2013 (5.1 million). Year-to-date album sales stand at 84.8 million, down 16 percent compared to the same total at this point last year (100.8 million). Digital track sales this past week totaled 21.9 million downloads, down 5 percent compared with last week (23 million) and down 9 percent stacked next to the comparable week of 2013 (24.2 million). Year-to-date track sales are at 424 million, down 12 percent compared with the same total at this point last year (482.5 million). Next week's Billboard 200 competes with the same week in 2013 when: Lady Antebellum's "Golden" debuted at No. 1 (167,000), replacing Kenny Chesney's "Life On a Rock," which fell to No. 8 with 48,000 (down 68 percent).

www.hiphopdx.com/index/news/id.28644/title.hip-hop-album-sales-week-ending-05-04-2014Hip Hop Album Sales: Week Ending 05/04/2014by Andres Tardio posted May 07, 2014 Iggy Azalea's "The New Classic," Pharrell's "G I R L" and Future's "Honest" remain in the Top 10 while Styles P's "The Phantom and The Ghost" and Bas' "Last Winter" enter the chart. Iggy Azalea's The New Classic, Pharrell's G I R L and Future's Honest remain at the top of the Rap & R&B portion of the Billboard Top 200 albums chart. Meanwhile, Styles P and Bas enter the charts with their individual efforts. Styles breaks into the chart at #74 with The Phantom and The Ghost selling 4,331 copies and Bas enters the chart at #103 with 3,601 albums sold in its first week with his Last Winter effort. Iggy Azalea's The New Classic Arrives At #5 Iggy Azalea's The New Classic is this week's top Rap album on the Billboard Top 200 albums chart. The collection lands in the #5 spot overall this week, a drop from last week's #3 placing. It experienced a 57 percent decrease in sales. The New Classic sold 22,525 copies in its second week, bringing its total sales number up to 74,917 units sold. The effort earned a 2.5 out of 5 in its HipHopDX review. "In a now altogether too common meeting of marketing prowess and the expectations of a society in the throes of progression, Australian-born emcee Iggy Azalea’s debut album The New Classicis just that; a modern twist on mainstream marketing’s ideal of beauty and expectations from popular music," HipHopDX said of the set. "Depending on perspective, Azalea unfortunately (or fortunately) follows in a long line of physically attractive blondes pushed to the stars by the music industry. In that being said instead of Azalea’s unique gifts as a lyricist being showcased, the album feels flat and uninspiring. This isn’t as much an enjoyable album as it is a brand marketing impact report highlighting percentages of target demographics reached." Recently, the rapper said she's already looking into her next effort. Pharrell's G I R L Remains In Top 6 Pharrell's G I R L is the #6 album on the chart this week. In its ninth week of availability, the project sold 21,645 units, a 3 percent increase from last week's sales total. The effort has sold 347,128 copies overall. Recently, Pharrell revealed news regarding "Happy," this album's most successful cut. In a recent interview, Pharrell acknowledged that he was not the first act set to perform the selection. “[Cee Lo] did it," the Virginia producer-rapper said. “But...How do I say this diplomatically? The powers that be at the time did not see it fit for him. And there was a much bigger agenda for him. He had bigger fish to fry. He had an album to put out…He wanted to do it, but I think some folks on his team just felt that the priority should have been on his album at the time. And so they elected not to do that song, but with another one instead…He was one of the most gracious people about it. When it came out he congratulated me. When we got nominated he congratulated me. He’s a super standup guy…He sounded amazing on it. I mean, he burns my version.” Future's Honest Drops To #7 Future's Honest experienced a significant decrease in sales this week. In its second week, the effort dropped 63 percent in sales, knocking the project down from #2 to #7. This week, the effort sold 19,731 copies, which brings the Honest sales total to 73,083 units sold overall. In August 2013, Future spoke about the album after switching its title from Future Hendrix to Honest. “Honest is the new me," Future said at the time. "It represents the truth I try to bring to my music...I plan to break the mold with this album so that it will be nothing like you’ve heard from me or any other artist out. You can either tell the truth or face the Future.” Hip Hop Album Sales: Week Ending 05/04/2014 #5. Iggy Azalea - The New Classic - 23,000 (75,000) #6. Pharrell Williams – G I R L – 22,000 (347,000) #7. Future - Honest - 20,000 (73,000) #18. August Alsina - Testimony - 12,000 (99,000) #20. John Legend - Love In The Future - 11,000 (476,000) #24. music.yahoo.com/blogs/chart-watch/chart-watch-lindsey-stirling-shatters-records-204733902.htmlChart Watch: Lindsey Stirling “Shatters” Records By Paul Grein, Yahoo! Chart Watch Lindsey Stirling's second studio album,"Shatter Me," enters The Billboard 200 at #2, just behind the "Frozen" soundtrack. Stirling's album debuts at #1 on both Classical Crossover Albums and Electronic Albums, which demonstrates her remarkable reach. Other "classical crossover" stars have climbed high on The Billboard 200 in recent years. Josh Groban and Susan Boyle have each landed a pair of #1 albums. Andrea Bocelli and Jackie Evancho have each climbed as high as #2 twice. "Shatter Me" sold 35K digital copies, which allows it to enter Top Digital Albums at #1. Stirling's eponymous debut album, which peaked at #23 in October, rebounds from #77 to #42 in its 75th chart week. It moves up to #1 on Top Catalog Albums, displacing Johnny Cash's "The Legend Of Johnny Cash." "Lindsey Stirling" is nominated for Top Electronic/Dance Album at the upcoming Billboard Music Awards. The album reached #1 on both Classical Crossover Albums and Dance/Electronic Albums. Stirling, 27, has been dubbed the "hip-hop violinist" for her efforts to incorporate that instrument into popular music. The new album features two guests. Lzzy Hale, lead singer of the hard rock band Halestorm, is featured on the title track. Dia Frampton, runner-up on Season 1 of "The Voice," is featured on "We Are Giants." "Frozen" heads The Billboard 200 for the 13th week. In the past 20 years, just two other albums have logged 13 or more weeks at #1: Adele's "21" (24 weeks in 2011-2012) and the "Titanic" soundtrack (16 weeks in 1998). This is the 19th week in the top five for "Frozen." That's the longest run in the top five for a soundtrack from a theatrically-released movie since "The Lion King" (another Disney property) had 23 non-consecutive weeks in the top five in 1994-1995. "Frozen" tops the 2.5 million mark in U.S. sales this week. It's the first album to reach that sales level since Mumford & Sons's Grammy-winning "Babel," which has sold 2,629,000 copies since its release in September 2012. (In other words, "Frozen" has outsold the most recent albums by Beyonce, Eminem and Bruno Mars, to name just a few.) "Frozen" is #1 on Top Soundtracks for the 23rd week. It slipped out of the top 30 at the box-office for the first time this past weekend. (It ranked #32.) The "Frozen" soundtrack is #1 in Japan under the title "Anna And The Snow Queen." It's the first album to reach #1 in both the U.S. and Japan since Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" in 2011. It's the first soundtrack to reach #1 in both countries since "Michael Jackson's This Is It" in 2009. Ray LaMontagne's fifth studio album,"Supernova," debuts at #3. Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys produced the album, which is LaMontagne's third consecutive album to hit #3. It follows "Gossip In The Grain" and "God Willin' And The Creek Don't Rise." "Gossip In The Grain" spawned LaMontagne's only Hot 100 single to date ("You Are The Best Thing," #90). "God Willin'" won a Grammy for Best Contemporary Folk Album of 2010. "Passion: Take It All (Live)" debuts at #4. The album features such Contemporary Christian stars as Chris Tomlin, Crowder and Matt Redman. This is the third "Passion" album to crack the top five. "Passion: White Flag" reached #5 in March 2012. "Passion: Let The Future Begin" hit #4 in March 2013. Luke Bryan's "Crash My Party" drops from #7 to #9. The album is #1 on Top Country Albums for the 11th week. That's the longest run at #1 for an album by a male solo artist since Jason Aldean's "My Kinda Party" topped the chart for 12 weeks in 2011. Whitechapel's fifth studio album, "Our Endless War," debuts at #10. It's the first top 40 album for the "deathcore" band from Tennessee. The album sold 16K copies, not great by any means, but an improvement over last week's #10 album, Bethel Music's "You Make Me Brave (Live)," which sold a little less than 14K copies. That set a new low for the Nielsen SoundScan era. "Problem" by Ariana Grande featuring Iggy Azalea enters Top Digital Songs at #1, with first-week sales of 438K. That's the biggest first-week tally since Katy Perry's "Roar" started with sales of 557K in August 2013. The song displaces Pharrell Williams's "Happy," which held the top spot for 11 weeks. Will "Problem" also dethrone "Happy" on the Hot 100? You'll find out later today when we post my first of two Chart Watch Songs blogs. Here's a recap of this week's top 10 albums. The Top Five:The "Frozen" soundtrack holds at #1 for the 13th week in in its 23rd week (106K). This is its 21st week in the top 10 … Lindsey Stirling's"Shatter Me" debuts at #2 (56K). Stand-up comedian Jim Gaffigan's 10th album, "Obsessed," debuts at #11. It's his highest-charting album to date. It's the highest-charting comedy album by any performer since The Lonely Island's "The Wack Album" reached #10 in June 2013 … Grateful Dead's "Dave's Picks, Vol. 10" debuts at #17. The album was recorded at a concert in Los Angeles in December 1969 … Miss May I's fourth album, "Rise Of The Lion," debuts at #21 … Rodrigo y Gabriela'sfifth studio album, "9 Dead Alive," debuts at #22. Pixies's "Indie Cindy" debuts at #23. It's the alternative band's fifth studio album—and its first in 24 years. (Hey, art can't be rushed.) It's also the group's highest-charting album to date, topping 1990's "Bossanova," which peaked at #70. Ariana Grande's "Yours Truly" rebounds from #190 to #71 in its 31st chart week as anticipation builds for her sophomore album. The album debuted at #1 in September … "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" soundtrack jumps from #152 to #112 in its second week. The movie was #1 at the box-office over the weekend. The Allman Brothers Band's "40" edges out The Statler Brothers's "Farewell Concert" to take the #1 spot on Top Music Videos. The Allmans recorded the 40th anniversary show live at the Beacon Theatre in New York in March 2009. Coming Attractions: Look for "Now 50" to debut at #1 next week, with first-week sales in the 125K range. Hunter Hayes' "Storyline" will probably debut at #3 (70K), followed by Sarah McLachlan's "Shine On" (#4, 35K) and Tech N9ne Collabos's "Strangeulation" (#5, 25K). Lily Allen's "Sheezus" and Atmosphere's "Southsiders" will probably either just make or just miss the top 10, with sales of about 18K each.

www.roughstock.com/blog/country-music-s-top-10-albums-the-week-of-may-8-2014Country Music's Top 10 Albums: The Week of May 8, 2014 By: Matt Bjorke Last Updated: May 8, 2014 12:05 PM This week we’ll be bringing you just albums inside the Top 200 SoundScan and Billboard chart with some updates on albums we’ve not talked about for months! This week’s Top 5 artists remains (nearly) the same as last week, just slightly re-ordered with Luke Bryan #1 with “Crash My Party,” Florida Georgia Line #2 with “Here’s To The Good Times,” Eric Church’s “The Outsiders” at #3, Blake Shelton’s “Based On A True Story” at #4 and Johnny Cash’s “Out Among The Stars” at #5. Dan+Shay, Nashville Cast, Dierks Bentley, Cole Swindell, and Keith Urban round out Top 10. The second half of the Top 10 albums this week includes Keith Urban’s “FUSE,” an album which gained 101% this week thanks to a performance on American Idol. The album has sold 335k to date. The Nashville Cast’s live album “On The Record” is at #7, Cole Swindell’s self-titled album is #8, Dan+Shay’s “Where It All Began” is at #9 and rounding out the Top 10 is a “riser of the week,” Dierks Bentley’s “Riser.” Notable albums include George Strait’s “Love Is Everything,” Johnny Cash’s “Legend Of Johnny Cash,” and previous albums from Blake Shelton, Luke Bryan and more! “The Legend Of Johnny Cash” has now sold 3.166 million copies to date and is one of the USA’s most-consistent catalog albums the past year or so. Nickel Creek’s “A Dotted Line,” a song which has sold 47k albums to date for their ‘comeback’ recording. Blake Shelton’s “Loaded: The Best Of Blake Shelton” has now sold 884k to date (it will eventually be his fourth Platinum album after “Red River Blue,” “Based On A True Story” and his most-recent certification, “Blake Shelton,” his debut from 2001. Luke Bryan’s “Tailgates & Tanlines” is alos on our rundown this week as is George Strait’s “Love Is Everything!” Finally, we have the latest records from Jake Owen and Thomas Rhett as well as Hunter Hayes, who will debut at #1 on our chart next week with “Storyline,” an album which should shift north of 70k in the first week on the sales chart.

www.billboard.com/biz/articles/news/chart-alert/6084705/billboard-200-grateful-dead-jim-gaffigan-pixiesChart Moves: Grateful Dead Notch Highest-Charting Album Since 1987, Jim Gaffigan's Stand-Up Sales Sizzle By Keith Caulfield, Los Angeles | May 09, 2014 This week on the Billboard 200 albums chart, Disney's "Frozen" soundtrack spent a leisurely 13th week at No. 1, while Lindsey Stirling's "Shatter Me" climbed in at No. 2. A total of five debuts arrives in the top 10, including new efforts from Ray LaMontagne, the Passion collective, Timeflies and Whitechapel. Outside the top 10, there were a number of movers and shakers -- let's take a closer look at some of them: -- Jim Gaffigan, "Obsessed" - No. 11 - Thanks to the premiere of Jim Gaffigan's stand-up special "Jim Gaffigan: Obsessed" on Comedy Central, its companion album debuts on the Billboard 200 at No. 11 with 14,000 sold in the week ending May 4, according to Nielsen SoundScan. (A new high in both sales and chart position for the comedian.) The Comedy Central special premiered on April 27, and garnered 1.1 million viewers, according to Nielsen -- making it Comedy Central's most-watched stand-up special this year. "Obsessed" -- which also debuts at No. 1 on the Comedy Albums chart -- logs the best sales week for a stand-up comedy album in over two years. The last to sell more in a week was Patrice O'Neal's "Mr. P," which debuted with a handful of copies more (but still a rounded 14,000) in the week ending Feb. 12, 2012. That album was released nearly three months after O'Neal died, on Nov. 29, 2011. A couple comedy albums since then have earned bigger weeks, but they were non-stand-up efforts that were music-driven: Tenacious D's "Rize of the Fenix," Jimmy Fallon's "Blow Your Pants Off" (both in 2012) and the Lonely Island's "The Wack Album" (2013). -- Grateful Dead, "Dave's Picks Volume 10: Thelma, Los Angeles, CA - 12/12/69" - No. 17 - The band claims its highest debut with this new archival set, which sees its 12,000 sales start driven entirely by direct-to-consumer sales through the Internet. The album is also the Dead's highest-charting set since "In the Dark" (fueled by its hit "Touch of Grey") peaked at No. 6 on Aug. 22, 1987. Related -- Pixies, "Indie Cindy" - No. 23 - The rock band's first studio album since 1991's "Trompe le Monde" instantly gives the veteran act its highest-charting set. The group had previously topped-out at No. 70 with 1990's "Bossanova." -- Johnnyswim, "Diamonds" - No. 29 - The duo, which includes Amanda Sudano -- the daughter of Donna Summer and Bruce Sudano -- scores its first Billboard 200 entry, starting with 9,000. Johnnyswim had previously logged two entries on the Heatseekers Albums chart in 2012 and last year. Johnnyswim's debut comes almost exactly 35 years after Donna Summer and Bruce Sudano (with his group Brooklyn Dreams) wrapped a 19-week run on the Billboard Hot 100 with the No. 4-peaking "Heaven Knows." It finished out its chart run on May 19, 1979. -- Amy Grant, "How Mercy Looks From Here" - No. 109 -- After the album was discounted to $5 at Family Christian stores, it re-enters with a 124 percent gain and its best sales week (3,000) in nearly a year. The album had been absent from the chart since last August. -- The String Cheese Incident, "Song In My Head" - No. 123 - The group's first new studio album in nine years gives the act its highest-charting set, as it debuts at No. 123, surpassing the No. 147 peak of "Outside Inside" in 2001. The new release also crowns Heatseekers Albums. -- Rush, "Rush" - No. 127 - The rock group's self-titled 1974 debut was reissued on 200-gram vinyl in a lavish box set on April 29. Its return to the chart (3,000) is powered by that vinyl piece, which equates to 77 percent of its sales for the week. The album debuted on the Billboard 200 on Sept. 21, 1974 and eventually rose to a No. 105 peak on Nov. 16 of that year.
