Simon Crum's Country Music Is Here To Stay from 1959 should have hit the top so he would have topped the chart under a pseudonym and his real name, Ferlin Husky. His biggest hit came a year later with Wings Of A Dove.

Hank Williams, Jr. would have topped the charts for four consecutive years (1985-1988) had Young Country topped the chart in 1988.

Kathy Mattea's She Came From Fort Worth from 1990 should have been a #1 for the following reasons: 1. She would have had chart toppers during the 1980s and 1990s. 2. She would have topped the chart for three consecutive years (1988-1990).

Walkin' A Broken Heart should have been a #1 for Don Williams in 1985 so he could have topped the chart for five consecutive years (1982-1986).

Meanwhile Back at Mama's should have been #1 this week. It was foolish for Big Machine to try and block Dierks from having a well-deserved second week at #1 with Drunk on a Plane

All three of Alan Jackson/Randy Travis penned songs from the early 1990s would have been #1 had Better Class Of Losers hit the top for Travis in 1992. The other two did hit the top: Forever Together by Travis in 1991 and She's Got The Rhythm And I Got The Blues by Jackson in 1992.

Ernest Tubb's hitmaking career would have started on a #1 note in 1944 if Try Me One More Time got there.

Mel Tillis' biggest #2 hit is from 1979, Send Me Down To Tucson. Had that hit #1, it would have joined his other contribution to the Every Which Way But Loose soundtrack at #1, Coca Cola Cowboy.

Willie Nelson would have went three for three with his Always On My Mind album of 1982 had Let It Be Me (1982) and Last Thing I Needed First Thing This Morning (1983) hit the top. The title track did so in 1982.

Paul Brandt's I Do from 1996 should have been a #1 so he could have been the second Canadian male artist to top the charts. Hank Snow was first with I'm Movin' On from 1950 (the biggest country music hit according to Joel Whitburn).

Jerry Reed's The Bird from 1982 should have hit #1 so other #1s could have been at the top as well. Reed does parodies of Willie Nelson's On The Road Again and George Jones' He Stopped Loving Her Today in the song.

Dolly Parton would have had six consecutive chart toppers had The Seeker not peaked at #2 in 1975. Her streak started in 1974 with Jolene.

Moe Bandy would have started his Columbia Records Era (1975-1985) on a #1 note had Hank Williams, You Wrote My Life reached the top in 1976.

You Better Think Twice by Vince Gill from 1995 should have been #1 so he could have had four consecutive years of topping the charts (1992-1995).

Now that Trisha Yearwood and Garth Brooks are back on the charts, let us pick their #2 duet from 1997, In Another's Eyes as our pick of the day. It should have been #1 for the following reasons: 1. It would have been Yearwood's first #1 duet. 2. It would have given her consecutive #1s for the second time in her career. Perfect Love followed the duet and it hit #1 in 1998. The only time she had back to back #1s was between 1994-1995 with XXX's And OOO's An American Girl and Thinkin' About You. 3. It would have been Brooks' first #1 duet. 4. It would have been his first chart topper on MCA Records.

Whatever It Is by the Zac Brown Band from 2009 should have been #1 for the following reasons: 1. The Foundation would have been the third in country music to contain five #1s. The others are: a. Chicken Fried-2008 b. Toes-2009 c. Highway 20 Ride-2010 d. Free-2010 2. They would have started their career with their first nine singles going to the top. The next four were (from You Get What You Give): a. As She's Walking Away-with Alan Jackson-2010 b. Colder Weather-2011 c. Knee Deep-with Jimmy Buffett-2011 d. Keep Me In Mind-2011

But You Know I Love You would have had two trips to the top had the original by Bill Anderson made it there in 1969. Dolly Parton's version topped the chart in 1981.

Tracy Lawrence would have topped the chart for six consecutive years (1992-1997) had Is That A Tear reached #1 in 1997.

Tracy Lawrence would have topped the chart for six consecutive years (1992-1997) had Is That A Tear reached #1 in 1997. #1 on R&R. ;) That actually would have been Tracy's final #1 song ion either chart f it hadn't been for the marathon run of "Find Out Who Your Friends Are" from late 2006 to mid 2007.

Let's pick two Toby Keith #2 hits today. They are You Ain't Much Fun from 1995 and Does That Blue Moon Ever Shine On You from 1996. Had those topped the chart, Keith would have had #1s for five consecutive years (1993-1997).

Barbara Mandrell would have had three consecutive chart topping hits had Wish You Were Here reached the top in 1981. The one before that was I Was Country When Country Wasn't Cool and the one after was 'Till You're Gone in 1982.

The Gatlin Brothers would have had the same number of chart toppers in the 1980s with two like they did in the 1970s had She Used To Be Somebody's Baby hit the top in 1986. It would have joined Houston Means I'm One Day Closer To You in 1983 as their other chart topper during the decade. They have two from the 1970s: I Just Wish You Were Someone I Love from 1978 and 1979's All The Gold In California.

Let's pick the two #2 hits Steve Wariner had in 1988: Baby I'm Yours and I Should Be With You. Had those top the charts, he would have had chart topping hits in five consecutive years (1985-1989).

K.T. Oslin would have chart consecutive chart toppers for the second time had Hey Bobby from 1989 got there. It was the follow up of her third #1, Hold Me. Her ONLY time having back to back #1s happened with Do Ya' (1987) and I'll Always Come Back (1988).

Confederate Railroad's Queen Of Memphis from 1993 should have hit #1 so they would have joined Tracy Lawrence and John Michael Montgomery as the other Atlantic artists topping the charts during the early 1990s. They would have been the first group to do so. That honor belongs to the Zac Brown Band and Chicken Fried from 2008.

Six Days On The Road by Dave Dudley in 1963 should have been a #1 so he could have had chart topping hits during the 1960s and 1970s. He did top the chart in 1970 with The Pool Shark.
