Oh yeah, "I Still Miss You" by Keith Anderson, since I just did that song in the "Random Video" thread. Keith's "You Look Good In My Shirt" was to thank for that one. You must be on a Keith Anderson bend or something. You've mentioned him quite a few times on quite a few threads. I'm going to start calling you Everything Keith Anderson (or EKA for short)! If you read my post in the random video thread, I explained why. I mentioned him because of the "artists you've met and your impressions" by them thread. ;)

I said that in my original post about quite a few threads. You implied I was on a Keith Anderson kick, and there was a reason why, and you said you knew why, yet you still pointed the fact I've mentioned him in multiple threads, when you already knew why I did in the first place. Confused yet?

Cowgirls Don't Cry, the duet between Brooks & Dunn and Reba McEntire was a #2 hit in 2009. Had that topped the charts, their record would have been perfect as their first collaboration, If You See Him/If You See Her was a #1 hit in 1998.

Since George Strait concluded his Cowboy Rides Away tour last week, let us pick a #2 hit from him. Ready? It is from last year and it is Give It All We Got Tonight. Had that topped the chart, Strait would have had #1s during the 1980s, 1990s, 2000s, and 2010s.

In regards to George, how about "Cowboys Like Us" or "Living For The Night". Both were #2's on both charts. "Cowboys Like Us" got blocked by Toby's "I Love This Bar" and "Living For The Night" was blocked by Jason's "Big Green Tractor". In terms of the latter, I know on MB, both Rascal Flatts and Randy Houser had lost bullets and there was no one stopping George from getting there. He fell just 252 points short of Jason on the week ending 9/14/2009 chart.

Epic Records would have started on a #1 note had Mountain Of Love by David Houston hit the top in 1963. It was their first single as a record company. However, three years later, they made up for it. Almost Persuaded by Houston remains Epic' biggest hit (9 weeks at #1).

Barbara Mandrell has two #2 hits. Let's pick the second one, Only A Lonely Heart Knows from 1984. Had that topped the chart, she would have had chart toppers in seven consecutive years (1978-1984).

Remember Sylvia? I do! Anyway, her Like Nothing Ever Happened should have been a #1 in 1983 for the following reasons: 1. It would have given her consecutive chart toppers for the ONLY time in her career. It was the follow up to her biggest hit, Nobody (1982). 2. It would have given her three consecutive chart topping years (1981-1983).

Just for sabre14, had Sugarland's Baby Girl hit the top in 2005, they would have been the first artist on the Mercury label to score a #1 debut single since Achy Breaky Heart by Billy Ray Cyrus in 1992.

The Dixie Chicks have three #2 hits. Let us pick on two of those from 2002. Those are Long Time Gone and Landslide. Had they reached the top, the Chicks would have had #1s in six consecutive years (1998-2003).

I cant remember who kept him from the "penthouse" , But I remember being positively pissed that Travis Tritts " A Great Day To Be Alive" was hung up for several weeks at #2. It seems like it was really high on the year end lists even though it didn't top the charts as well. I was just looking at "It's A Great Day To Be Alive's" chart run on R&R and man that was some unfortunate timing. Not only was "Who I Am" to blame but Brooks & Dunn's "Ain't Nothin' 'Bout You" has some blame as well. Travis spent a good month from April to May at #2. I wasn't as upset about this as "Baby Girl" because I enjoy Sugarland's song ever so slightly more, plus the fact I was much more invested in chart watching by 2005, but that one is near the top my list of most infuriating blocks from being a #1 ever.

Reba McEntire's biggest #2 hit is The Fear Of Being Alone from 1996 (Little Bitty by Alan Jackson blocked her). If that hit #1, she would have had chart toppers in four consecutive years (1995-1998).

The Everywhere CD from Tim McGraw produced two #2 hits. They are One Of These Days (1998) and For A Little While (1999). Had those hit the top, the following would have happened: 1. The CD would have been the ONLY with a sextet of chart topping hits (move over, Rodney Crowell). The others are: 1. It's Your Love-with Faith Hill-1997-the year's biggest hit 2. Everywhere-1997 3. Just To See You Smile-1998-the year's biggest hit 4. Where The Green Grass Grows-1998 2. He would have had nine consecutive chart topping hits, starting with the Hill duet and ending with My Best Friend from 2000. That would have been his longest streak of #1s.

Let us go back to 1964 and Webb Pierce. Had his Memory #1 hit #1, he would have had chart toppers during the 1950s and 1960s.

John Anderson has one #2 hit and that is Seminole Wind from 1992. If that hit #1, the number three would work in two ways: 1. Anderson would have had three #1s in the 1980s and three #1s in the 1990s. 2. Anderson would have had three #1s on the Warner Bros. label and three #1s on the BNA label.

If The Seeker by Dolly Parton in 1975 hit the top, she would have had six #1s in a row starting with Jolene in 1974.

Actually, 'One Of These Days' did spend a week at #1 @ R&R; it wound up tied in spins with King George's 'I Just Want To Dance With You' for a single week, but won R&Rs tiebreaker at the time by being aired on all 235 of the R&R/Mediabase reporters back then, whereas one station wasn't playing King George's smash at that time back in June of 1998 (shame on them!).
Strait's tune rose to #1 the following week and spent two weeks in the penthouse before 'If You See Him (If You See Her)' replaced him at #1 for two weeks.
'Run', Cowboys Like Us', 'For A Little While', 'I Go Back', 'Love Is A Beautiful Thing' and 'The Rest Of Mine' all peaked at #2 @ R&R, and all of them should have reached the penthouse IMHO.

Don Williams had a #2 hit in 1990 with Back In My Younger Days. Had that hit #1, the following would have happened: 1. He would have had chart toppers in the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s. 2. He would have had chart toppers on three labels: ABC/Dot (later MCA), Capitol, and RCA.

Lynn Anderson had a #2 hit in 1969 called That's A No No. Had that topped the chart, the following would have happened: 1. She would have had #1s during the 1960s and 1970s. 2. She would have had #1s on two labels: Chart and Columbia.

A fine rock and roll to country convert was (and is) Billy Joe Royal. He had two #2 hits: Tell It Like It Is (1989 and chart wise, his biggest hit) and Till I Can't Take It Anymore (1990). Had those topped the chart, the following would have happened: 1. He would have had #1s in the 1980s and 1990s. 2. He would have had Atlantic's first #1 hit. Atlantic would have to wait until 1992 when Tracy Lawrence's Sticks And Stones became their first chart topper.

As was mentioned already, Tanya Tucker's string of nine #2 singles from the 80s and 90s are the biggest shame for me. This could have potentially kept her steam going for even longer...but then again, maybe not. Who knows! IMO she's extremely underrated in the country music community.

If we were to take ALL of Eddy Arnold's #2 hits (12) and add them to his #1s (28), he would have been the first country artist with 40 chart toppers. Instead, Conway Twitty became the first with 40 when Desperado Love topped the chart in 1986.

Years After You was a #2 hit for John Conlee in 1985. Had that hit #1, he would have topped the chart for four consecutive years (1983-1986).

George Jones would have topped the charts for five consecutive years if his biggest #2, She's My Rock from 1984 hit #1.
