Silvery Ghosts – Love & Other Ephemera Album Review by Dave Smiles
Silvery Ghosts is the new group fronted by singer songwriter Hank Kim, who after a five year absence from music now returns as a more mature and fully realized musician. The band is rounded out with vocalist Kelli Scarr (who sung on Moby’s album Wait For Me) guitarist / keyboardist Nate Martinez and drummer Tom Zovich.
Those familiar with Kim’s previous albums, Blue Alibi and Notorious Rainproof Smile, will no doubt be pleased to hear the growth from this talented performer. The gentle tones of Hank Kim’s voice are the perfect conduit for his songs of loss and rebirth. His lyrics are thought provoking and haunting, taking something familiar and putting a spin on it with metaphors and word play, a type of poetry from someone who has chosen to live life, not just watch as it goes by.
The new album will be released on June 9th and will be available through Amazon and iTunes.

I recently discovered this album and followed it down the ambient pop rabbit hole only to discover that I really like a lot of this music! (I've been a prog metal fan for a long time)
This album sounds like it could be the soundtrack for a 21st century Don Draper (whose gotten sober). My two favorite tracks are Vivid in the Valley (https://soundcloud.com/silvery-ghosts/vivid-in-the-valley), a sultry, sexy tune that combines Kim and Scarr's voices in a way that makes the song *burn* and Headlong, which sounds like electronica meets rockabilly. They've also released a video of "At One Arm's Length"(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1nLT6hNsFgA).
Thanks to that album, I've now discovered a host of new (to me!) artists like Kan Wakar, Nude, and Mental Band, and have been introduced to many of the indie standbys like The National, Bon Iver, Sigur Ros, and hundreds more! I'm looking forward to talking about these with people who know and love them!
Cheers! Mary
