Another good comaprison would be the Mexican PopRock band ; Belanova. I wouldn't compare Echosmith to Taylor Swift at all. She has a Country feel to her music and her last album was more early Avril Lavigne full of Arena rock guitar riffs. If Echosmith hailed from the U.K. then they would fall under the catagory of SophistiPOp; which was what 80's pop rock was called. If you follow the musical linkage from there thru 2014; you will here the indie pop/rock vibe of there music.

I just think her voice sounds like Taylor Swift's. Thank you! I think people are closing their mind to the very obvious and irrefutable Taylor Swift similarity because A) they think Taylor is a bad technical vocalist and thus find the comparison insulting or B) they think Taylor is pop or pop-country and want to push Echosmith as some sort of alt or indie type band. A) - ridiculous, because we're talking about vocal tone and inflection - not technical ability. There's no denying their tones - and the way they navigate words - are very similar. B) - this one really surprises me. I'm seeing all these comparisons to iconic alt acts, and I just can't reconcile that with the music at all. They're pop. Only slightly "indie." Absolutely not pop-punk. This is pop, with maybe a hint of soft rock. I mean - we hear all these complaints about how alternative radio is embracing too much pop, yet it wasn't feeling this song at all. There is a slight image similarity to Paramore, but their HEAVIEST stuff would be the lightest stuff on a Paramore album. And they have quite a few songs that would feel at home on a Taylor Swift (or similar) album. I'm actually shocked "Tell Her You Love Her," given the lyrics and music, ISN'T a Taylor Swift song. It's also funny to me that people seem to want to protect Echosmith from the Taylor Swift comparison. Considering Sydney is a 17 year old girl and posted a cover of "Mean" when she was like 13, I can't see her getting too upset about it. This is a good song - no doubt about it. But Sydney Sierota sounds a lot like Taylor Swift. No doubt about it.

I think the acoustic vocal is closer to Taylor than the regular version

Vocalwise comparison to Taylor SWift isn't a bad call and I'm glad you cleared that up. I actually think it would help Echosmith to be compared to Taylor Swift because she is an established artist. The genre doesn't really matter, but strictly a vocal comparison and nothing else.

I honestly don't hear the Taylor Swift comparison in this song. I hear it somewhat in "Tell Her You Love Her", but that's about it. I agree with the Hayley Williams comparison a lot more, but even that is apparent in only some of their songs. Actually, one of the things that I like most about the album is that the artist whose voice Sydney's reminds me of varies a lot from track to track. For example, "Come Together" reminds me a lot of Carah of Shiny Toy Guns.

That Taylor Swift comparison is best heard when she performs the song accoustically.
If any of you listen to Rick Dees Hot Adult top 40; you will notice he spins a different version of the song. You can hear it in the break end towards the last line. Sydney repeats the prase "Cool Kids" one last time before going into an outro. Youtube's official vid doesn't have an outro either. If that's the official cd version of the song where can I get the version I'm talking about? I've checked a few Youtube uploaded versions , but no luck.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that what happened to "The Walker" and "Sleeping With A Friend" doesn't happen to this song.

I like this song. Seems like it's popular in Northeastern Pennsylvania and WKRZ played it a lot of times today.

While this song is a little too repetitive for me (as are many songs on pop radio), I absolutely love it. It sounds like something that would have been a hit in the late 90's. For that reason, I hope it's a massive hit.

taking into concideration that I don't recognize half the songs on that Billboard Hot 100; Echosmith is one of the best songs on it. I hope it keeps rising.

I didn't realize this was so high on itunes, 13 right now (and with two songs ahead falling) It's a perfectly crafted song from a sales standpoint, so I'm not surprised its iTunes rank > its airplay. The lyrical theme + fact that it's a band of four young siblings makes it perfect for young buyers, who really move the needle on iTunes. But the "indie" element to the sound - or at least the fact that it's not straight bubblegum - makes it seem cool, no pun intended, to people that are older than the usual demo for a teen-band song or would consider them too cool to buy something by The Vamps or whatever.

Maybe, but as far as i remember this was not selling that well not a long time ago. Maybe i'm wrong (because i usually watch the top 10 and song that i want to succeed) but i don't remember this near the top 10.
Anyway, this is doing well on radio, it's going head to head with Amnesia and i think it has a chance to become a top 10 hit
