Yeah, I've noticed that the YouTube comments are just tearing this song apart, and I'm not surprised. For the record, I don't necessarily think the song was meant to be sexist, but I definitely see how it can come across that way. In any case, I'm not a fan of it at all. It's cliche and laundry-list lyrics just aren't good at all. And while I am a believer, I don't think for a minute that God created girls for any of the reasons RaeLynn sings about. Again, I get that she and her co-writers were probably just going for a 'cutesy' song here (and I can see how several of you view/hear it that way), but on the flip-side, I understand why people are tearing it apart too. I dislike it, but simply for the sake that I don't think it's a good song (and I also can't stand her voice).
Anyway...this has come to a screeching halt at radio as well, and I think it could definitely have to do with the backlash it's been receiving online. "God Made Girls" shot up to #33 on Billboard in just 7 weeks, but last week it fell 3 spots to #36 and lost nearly 400k in audience, and on tonight's chart it's bullet-less for a second week in a row, with a loss of 308k.
The way I interpret it is that Valory is doing everything they can to keep this going, even though they lost their initial momentum, but it looks like they're barely staying afloat. If this doesn't regain its bullet this week, it'll go recurrent on Monday. I don't necessarily think that will happen, but I don't see this making the top 20, either.

I think the lyrics are incredibly sexist. So God made girls to cry, wear skirts, and be driven around...ok then

I think y'all are diving to deep on the lyrics here. I mean can't we say she is sexist towards men too. Lyrics say we can't cry or go to church on our own, etc.
This is meant to be a lighthearted song about guys and girls bringing out the best in each-other, not saying all that women or men can do. I am shocked these lyrics have gotten so much attention, when lyrics to certain top ten hits sung by men just roll off the back.

It took 2 months, but this one has finally re-reached its #33 peak position on Billboard. It had climbed up to #33 back on Monday, August 18 (chart dated 08/30), but after that it got knocked back quite a bit.
Still, this is a good example of how jammed up the chart is right now. When RaeLynn was #33 two months ago, she had 5.330 million in audience. And this week 7.003 million is only good enough for #33. A 7 million total would have placed her at #30 on the 08/30 chart...the #30 song was "Tattoo" with just over 6.1 million, and #31 was "Rum" with just over 6 million. This week's chart has Lee Brice's "Drinking Class" at #31 but with more than 9.2 million.
Suffice it to say that the chart is overdue for a housecleaning.

AMEN, I am so ready for the following songs to go either #1 and leave ASAP, "Burnin' It Down", "Dirt", OMG, so ready for "Ready Set Roll" TO LEAVE, and yes "Small Town Throwdown", this songs have overstayed their runs and need to all leave.

How many songs are close to leaving though? Roller Coaster should go recurrent soon, but other than that, we're mostly waiting on some songs to give up, but that hasn't happened yet. Garth Brooks appears on the way out, so that's 1. It's seem to early for Chase Bryant to give up considering he is a newcomer. Payback could be a potential one, but it's had some decent gains this week. Parmalee seem to be really gaining some momentum now. Big & Rich don't really seem to be ready to leave yet either. Somethin' Bad has been back to struggling this week, so I could see that being one. Ready Set Roll should leave already, but they really seem like they're never going to give up. I don't see Small Town Throwdown settling for anything less than a 2 peak. I'm hoping for a house cleaning too, but I'm just not sure if it's ever going to come.

^"Small Town Throwdown" will probably peak next week, as Brantley Gilbert is co-hosting Lon Helton's countdown show this weekend and the single has burned through so many weeks in the top 15 by now. I think Valory is doing a final push now and will conclude this push next week. Other potential candidates for a house-cleaning are "Rum," "Tattoo," "Love," and "Tonight, Tonight." The former two may have a little life left, but the latter two are almost certainly not going any higher. Plus there are the ones you've already mentioned, dm2081, including "Somethin' Bad," "People Loving People," "Roller Coaster," "Take It on Back," and "Payback." I'm sure several of these will end up hanging around, but we've still got a good four or five songs that will be peaking below #1 soon.

^ John King is most certainly done as "Tonight Tonight" is down 53 spins and over 300k audience this week; not to mention it barely regained it's bullet last week after going bulletless the week before. I agree that "Love" is just about at the end of its rope as well. I think we need to see proof before predicting "Close Your Eyes" and "Look At You" are close to the end but I agree that they are on watch mode considering just how long both songs have burned in the 20's and 30's during their lengthy chart runs.
"God Made Girls" has recovered for some good gains the past week or two but I'm still unconvinced this will be a hit. Perhaps a top 25 peak. It's currently #35 on the MB rolling chart with 10.7 million in audience which is a ton for the #35 song. BMLG is still her biggest ally and that will be her saving grace if "God Made Girls" has a long chart run.

Wow, probably a good choice. Her single is already selling well digitally, so with the added exposure of On The Verge, there's a chance this could really catch on and become a decent sized hit. If Maddie & Tae continue to climb, this could give us two big female country hits from new artists.

This is a smart move.
Not only will it save this song but it will save her career... I'm not sure how much longer her label was going to stick with her if this song didn't fly. This should help her catch up to Maddie & Tae who blew by her a month or so ago.

MR RaeLynn will soar through the 20's due to this treatment, but there is no way "God Made Girls" will catch up to "Girl in a Country Song" on the charts. "Girls" will probably peak around February or March 2014. "Girl in a Country Song" will be #1 this December. Also, I don't think Big Machine was considering releasing RaeLynn anytime soon. "God Made Girls" may have experienced some controversy, but the single is still selling decently and RaeLynn has a good bit of name recognition from The Voice. Plus, it's not like Big Machine has been throwing dart after dart at the wall with RaeLynn.

Surprised that RaeLynn was chosen, but I am very happy to hear that, as I love this song and agree that it's a smart move. This is one of my favorite songs out right now and it was off to a good start when it was first released and sales for it have continued to hold up well for its relatively lower airplay. I'm excited to see how this does and I hope that it sets her up well for future success because I am interested in her debut album between this single and the performances I've seen of "Love Triangle."

This song has risen more than 20 spots in the last 6 weeks at Callout America, including a 10-spot jump this past week alone, from #18 to #8. It still has some high dislike scores (nearly 16%), and only 5 songs in the 35 on that chart have higher dislikes. But the positive scores are high enough that they've cancelled out the negatives and allowed for a #8 overall position there.
Of course, Callout America probably doesn't mean much, but throughout most of the summer, it seemed all the female or female-led songs were sitting in the 31-35 spots. In fact both "Girl In A Country Song" and "God Made Girls" occupied the bottom spots on Callout America for quite some time, and now both have risen quickly into the top 10.
So take it with a grain of salt...but since Callout America has definitely leaned more "bro-ish" over the last several months, it's a good sign that some different-sounding songs are now ranking higher there ("God Made Girls" being one of them, in addition to GIACS, Garth's PLP, Jake Owen's WWAG, Blake's NL, Brett Eldredge's MTM, Keith Urban's SIMC, etc).
ETA: With RaeLynn named as On The Verge artist, we'll likely see this song put up some big gains this week. She's up 1 spot to #32 on Billboard tonight, with a gain of only 350k for the week, but for next week's chart we'll probably see a gain well over 3 million, if this follows the pattern of recent OTV artists' songs (Craig Campbell's "Keep Them Kisses Comin'", Dustin Lynch's "Where It's At", Sam Hunt's "Leave The Night On", and Chase Bryant's "Take It On Back"). I'll have to go back and see how each of them did in their first week or two as the OTV artist. It seems that it's about a 6-week 'program' of sustained growth (meaning, the songs don't drop big in week #2 like the Clear Channel hourly debuts), but the first week is still the biggest, and I seem to remember both Sam and Chase gaining at least 3-4 mil (maybe more) in their first week as the OTV artist.

I'm pleasantly surprised by this decision. I've always been a fan of this song and it's nice to see someone with some potential star power get this treatment. RaeLynn is a distinguishable and charismatic young artist and I'm excited to see where her career goes.

I got so excited when this came on the radio tonight and they introduced it as being by "new On the Verge artist RaeLynn." It was also only my like second or third time hearing it on the radio at all, too. I'm looking forward to hearing it much more now that it's airplay will be receiving a well-deserved boost!

I'm glad she's the next On the Verge artist. I love this song (much more than the Maddie & Tae song) and I can't really understand why this is even polarizing to some.

I'm happy with this decision. I like the song a lot and she is obviously connecting with some of the audience so she's a good pick. The only downside is that I think Valory would've been able to push her into the top 20 on their own while somebody like Katie Armiger, brandy Clark, Lucy Hale, Kelleigh Bannen, Leah Turner, Lindsay Ell or Kelsea Ballerini could've really used it. Like RaeLynn was already obviously more we'll received by radio PDs just based on how much higher than average she went compared to the others I named.
Still it's great to see a female get picked and I hope this doesn't mean they'll just I back to males for a few picks. They should change it up every pick. (Male/female/group).

Gained half a million in audience alone yesterday. That's what it had been doing for a whole week recently.

Yep, the OTV boost officially kicked in yesterday. I think that this can be a decent hit, although I'm not sure how it would have done without OTV. It had a few really rough weeks about a month ago and nearly went recurrent, but then the label seemingly revived it and she had 1 or 2 strong weeks recently. I don't know if I see this getting all the way into the top 10, though. RaeLynn hasn't won me over with anything yet so I too am a bit disappointed that a female like Mickey Guyton or Kelsea Ballerini wasn't chosen.

Ideally it'd be nice for Clear Channel to pick the artists (female or otherwise) that need a little bit of a boost, but I don't know how that would work. Almost every new artist would love to have a boost, I'm sure. So it's not about them picking who needs a little help; it's simply Clear Channel PD's picking the songs they think their listeners will like the most, and that's why they went with RaeLynn. She has a strong label behind her and enough forward momentum...there's already a base there to build off of. So while I agree with your overall point, I don't think any of these ladies above was likely to get chosen. Clear Channel will likely stick with artists on established labels so that effectively rules out Katie Armiger, Brandy Clark, and Lucy Hale. Cold River (Katie) and Slate Creek (Brandy) are too small, and I don't even really think that Slate Creek has a radio team in place, at least for the major markets anyway. Leah Turner is now without a label and Kelleigh Bannen's "You Are What You Love" appears to be done. Kelleigh is on a major label but all 3 of her singles have peaked below the top 40 so she didn't seem like she'd be a likely pick for PD's. Lindsay Ell may have had a shot and I think the same can be said for Kelsea Ballerni whose "Love Me Like You Mean It" probably has the best chance at becoming a moderate hit (out of any of these ladies' singles).

I absolutely adore this song. The lyrics are cute and it's just a really pleasant listen. Also, the fact that she was chosen as the next On the Verge artist is pretty incredible. I really hope this can start smashing properly now.

After the official On The Verge announcement, "God Made Girls" climbs from #34 to #26 on MB this week with a 756 spin increase.

Of all the new females struggling to be heard on country radio, Raelynn is the one that gets the On the Verge deal!? Ughh.
