For the serious post: I don't really like this song. I don't know but it smells like one-hit wonder for me. For the silly post: Wouldn't it have been funny if the song title lacked that B and followed Anaconda at number one? LOL There's nothing wrong in being a one hit wonder. Everybody remembers Walking in Memphis and Barely Breathing, and both were one hit wonders (that not even peaked that high). Some artist have a good bunch of top 40 hits that after a couple of years nobody remembers

^It already is #5. I really want to like this because that instrumental is hot with all of the 50s influence, but these lyrics and her voice... Alright, it's finally got me. I just can't deny that 50s style slayage.

Looks like she was struggling to figure out how to work with that backing track. LOL.

Hadn't heard this til yesterday when I saw it at #1 on iTunes and heard the minute and a half clip. I just watched the Kelly and Michael performance. Between that listen and a half, I am hooked. New favorite song. Cute lyrics, catchy as hell, and I love the throwback sound so much. Can't wait to start hearing this on the radio!

I predict that this will ride the charts (CHR and Hot 100) with Bang Bang. And it will keep Bang Bang from hitting #1 on either.

I loved this song since the first time I heard it just last week. It is fun and catchy music and lyrics. Love both the song and the video. I was very surprised to find the first posts on this thread to be so negative. It looks as if everybody hated it!

It has two massive streaming artists on it, and with it having HUGE hype, it will get tons of streaming. Honestly, I think it's going to be a tough fight for this to get to #1 on the Hot 100 with "Bang Bang" and "Anaconda." Both are likely to tear up the chart thanks to their videos. This might be able to squeeze in there, though. On CHR, though, "Anaconda" poses little threat currently. I see this and "Bang Bang" sharing the number one spot as they climb together. Similarly to "Am I Wrong" and "Rude."

Similarly to "Am I Wrong" and "Rude." To be honest, i think people have a massive faith in Anaconda, and yes, the song has a far better reaction than Pills an potions, but it's not like the sales were that massive and airplay is not exploding either. The start was good, but it's very difficult to predict that song being a number one contender right now, specially when Nicky is not exactly the flavor of the month for a good while. Bang, bang needs to pass the text of time, the song barely released and the reaction was surprisingly amazing, but in the long run the song has exactly the same problem that All about that bass has, and it's the burning rate. Song exploding in such massive way have a big probability to reach the top if people won't get tired of them before. Maybe when both songs appear on the callout scores we'll be able to guess how radio is going to react in the long run. On the other hand, right now Rude and Stay with me are totally out of touch, and with Taylor Swift releasing in a couple of weeks, it's really difficult to predict who will be the fortunate to reach billboard hot 100 number one. To go there you need some circumstances, to do well in airplay, sales and streaming, and even doing well, sometimes there are some others than even do better. Am i wrong is a perfect example, that song is a big success but till now only peaked at 4, and frankly i doubt it will be much higher

Yes, but i was talking of Sing chart run at mediabase. On billboard it's chart run was weird, the song was between 13 and 16 several months, but on mediabase during a good while it seemed destined to reach the top, or at least the top 3, and then without a reason stalled and started to drop. And that could happen to All about that bass or Bang bang if they burn fast. Even Happy burned fast on pop, but by then it were number one for a while

I mean, I was, but not entirely. I meant that "Bang Bang" and this are both performing better than "Sing" was at this point in its run in digital sales and streaming, and because of that, that's why I'm confident in saying that they won't have a run like "Sing" on the pop chart.

If it wasn't for the aweful lyrical content, this song might actually be enjoyable. I mean, it doesn't even have bass, so it sounds like she borrowed some Nicki Minaj lyrics and stuck em' in a pop song full of trebel? Nice vid though.

I mean, it doesn't even have bass, so it sounds like she borrowed some Nicki Minaj lyrics and stuck em' in a pop song full of trebel? Nice vid though. Am I crazy or is there a very notable bass line running throughout the track...(spoiler alert - I'm pretty sure I'm not crazy) Plus, bass refers to thickness (a play on the musical sound we associate with bass) - bodies with curves, in this context. Just can't buy anyone ripping on the lyrics here. They're the key (and that unbelievably catchy "My Mama Said Don't Worry About Your Size" doo wop pre-chorus) to the success. Great empowerment message, but in a way that comes across as funny, memorable and full of attitude - not the usual trite, on-the-nose attempts you see on such songs. If there is a lyrical criticism, it's that some particular lines either serve to skinny shame or suggest that women should define their self-worth based on guys' interests (it's okay to be big because "boys like a little more booty to hold at night" not because "you are who you are"). I completely disagree with those criticisms and don't think they jibe with the song as a whole, but I could at least see the merit in raising them. I can't see the merit in saying the lyrics are awful. They're clearly fantastic.

I'm still not completely sold on this song yet. It'll probably end up growing on me. I still find it hard to believe this hit #1 though.

I absolutely love the 'cause every inch of you is perfect from the bottom to the top part. It's the catchiest part of the song, and I wish the whole song sounded like that.

The "that booty, booty" part in the chorus makes the song.
