I wonder if next weekend or the following weekend Ryan Seacrest will make mention of original AT40 host Casey Kasem's passing.

I assume he'll at least make mention of it - even if a significant portion of the audience won't know who he is (outside of the recent unfortunate headlines), I sincerely doubt it'll go completely unmentioned.
Oddly enough, they'd probably have the time to factor a tribute into next weekend's show if they intend to go with something more substantial. I'd say it's a near-certainty that it would be next weekend as well - never mind just how significant this is anyway, Ed Sheeran's hosting the one after.

AT40.com, currently, has a "Remembering Casey Kasem" tribute page front and center. Ryan has made mention of several other celebrity passings in recent years (including another icon of his, Dick Clark). He'll, most certainly, have some sort of tribute to Casey in next weekend's show.

I didn't know Casey died. I still remember fondly listening the show during the 90's. Rest in peace

And, as if on cue, All Access reports that that, will indeed, be the case: One potential theory for what this could be (offered just a few minutes ago from the AT40 Proboard) is that the regular countdown will still be part of the show, but basically everything else will be dedicated to Casey - clips of Casey, shared memories of him, possibly some interviews offering more memories/stories as well.

That's, kind of, the impression I got. Given that Casey's declining health has been news for a while, now, it wouldn't surprise me if the production staff started working on some of the material weeks ago so that it would be ready to go when the time came. They could have, potentially, had the basic skeleton of the tribute show mapped out with the allotted chunks of time set aside for editing in the current week's chart as well as, perhaps, other remembrances that would, of course, be impossible to record beforehand.

It will be interesting to see what they actually do. I wonder if they included In The End this week thinking of Casey. He was a father figure to many of us, so it is fitting in a way that he died on Father's Day. I hope that he will now be at peace, and the family stops all the fighting. Even though he's been out of the limelight for some time now, this is really hitting me harder than I expected. The other comments I was going to write about this week's show seem too trivial now. Have a good week, everyone.

I'm looking forward to the tribute to Casey on AT40 next weekend. The memories and the stories will be really nice to hear.

Ryan mentioned that Ed Sheeran will be guest hosting in two weeks. So that is, June 28-29? If so, then we get back to back guest hosts, as Jennifer Lopez is on tap for July 4th weekend. http://instagram.com/p/pWOKYfjtZ5

It would be ironic if there were any newcomers this weekend for the Casey tribute who think Ryan is pretty good, and then don't get to hear him again for 3 weeks, if they stick around that long.
