On the official Hot 100 Airplay chart, 'Dark Horse' has already passed 'Happy'
For those who don't know, the Hot 100 uses radio airplay audience impressions as measured by Nielsen BDS and what we follow here is mediabase.

Yeah I know...I just overlooked the possibility of that before though. Hopefully Happy re-passes Dark Horse this week
And it looks like Fancy has a good chance of reaching #1 in airplay this week. Gonna get at least 6-7 weeks at #1 on the Hot 100 in total. Wonder if it will match Happy's 10...

The airplay drop between the two has been pretty even though. I don't see Happy being ahead of Dark Horse once it drops, but I also don't see Happy free-falling below Dark Horse enough that #1 for the year will make a difference. Happy has maintained a lead in sales this whole time. I'm pretty sure Happy has it in the bag now that we're more than halfway through the Billboard year.

I have a hunch that Happy will last a little longer once they're at lower airplay levels, just because it leans more AC/Hot AC where songs tend to die slowly.
I think Dark Horse has partially stayed so strong because the follow up single didn't really make a huge impact. If single #5 is a bigger hit then it will probably cause DH to fall faster.
Weird how Katy's having this back and forth of giant smash followed by underperformer 2 cycles in a row.

Now that Dark Horse has the airplay lead, it won't make any difference at all on the year end rankings.
Both songs seem to be sliding down the chart together and Happy is a little ahead based on other components. I think it will stay that way.
Only way there would be an impact is if Happy fell off completely while Dark Horse continued a gradual decline. Does not appear that is happening with Happy

Great! Since it's unlikely that Dark Horse will get Hot 100 single of the year, I hope it can snatch Radio Song of the year if it's longevity continues.

It would be nice if Dark Horse could give Katy her first Hot 100 single of the year. It would make the Prism era an even more successful accomplishment than it already is. She already has a #3 single with Firework, I want her to surpass that.

Rude seems to be following in the steps of Call Me Maybe having been released/debuting in the US after having already peaked in Canada and ending up being more successful in the US than Canada (it's pretty obvious it's going to peak higher than it did in Canada). Let's see if it manages to reach the top.

Counting Stars has small gains because of continued play at always-late-to-the-game AC radio.
Look at their new Top 10:
Adult Contemporary
1 1 21 All Of Me - John Legend - G.O.O.D. | Columbia 2 2 17 Happy - Pharrell Williams - Back Lot | Columbia 3 4 38 Counting Stars - OneRepublic - Mosley | Interscope 4 3 22 Story Of My Life - One Direction - SYCO | Columbia 5 5 36 Let Her Go - Passenger - Black Crow/Nettwerk | Warner Bros. 6 6 25 Best Day Of My Life - American Authors - Dirty Canvas/Island | Republic 7 7 35 Wake Me Up! - Avicii - PRMD/Island | Republic 8 8 23 Say Something - A Great Big World & Christina Aguilera - Black Magnetic | Epic 9 11 17 Dark Horse - Katy Perry Featuring Juicy J - Capitol 10 10 50 Brave - Sara Bareilles - Epic
Also why Happy and Dark Horse are still hanging in there...

No the number of spins is actually pretty light compared to other formats and drops significantly after top 10 (do to recurrent rule, which, of course, reiterates how late and how slow the format really is). The format still relies too heavily on "Gold" tunes.

Wouldn't Maps have to sell more than Problem did to debut at one? A LOT more. Based on Fancy's current massive #1 chart points count, Maps would need to sell about 600k, get 40M AI, AND get 7 million streams, all in the first week. It would need about 440k sales and 25M AI and a few streams just to debut I'm the top 3.

I can't believe Sing is over already.
Ed's album isn't out for another 10 days.
I don't get that Nico & Vinz song.
Birthday is still holding on. Katy has 190M between 2 songs. Her label isn't crying that Birthday didn't blow up.
