Technically you pay for them right away. You then get a discount when the full album is released, though.

I get what people are saying but....These pre-order songs are eligible to chart though and have before.
So although we can exclude them in personal lists if we like, the official ones do not

But you can still purchase them on their own if you did not preorde the album, so there really is no way of knowing if they are staying near the top longer because of individual sales.

I know but they do impact the chart. It might not have long term impact but the chart we all follow is based on 7 days, so given that timeframe, these songs can and have before had a short term impact big enough to chart high

They crash so fast that they really don't even impact the chart much on the one week they're in. With no airplay and streaming, those songs are going to debut very low and fall off the next week, so that's why they get excluded.

I agree 110% that personal lists can have whatever exclusions you want. All I am saying is the Hot 100 does not make those same exclusions. In other words advance singles are not removed simply because they are sales only with no airplay and streaming.

"We Are One" should reach a new peak, post-start of World Cup, but, with sales not being too hot, probably will fall short of top 40?

It's sales peaked in the mid-50s. With minimal airplay (about 2 million AI from Latin radio) and strong streaming, it should be around the middle of the chart, I would think.

Dark Horse's video performance has been so impressive to me. Hit it out the park and I still think the video isn't the best.

ENRIQUE IGLESIAS – Bailando f/D.Bueno/S.Paul/GDZ: 18.878 (+1.319)
YES. This is the best bop of 2014 (the Spanish version, but the English one is alright too). Enrique is best when he does this type of music, not the EDM crap.

Yes but the point is that those songs typically don't impact enough be in the weekly top 10 best-selling songs unlike official singles which only fall after some weeks/months later (i.e. Problem) when people don't care about them anymore. They really should just call it digital singles to more accurately reflect actual song popularity on iTunes IMO.

If people didn't want it they wouldn't buy it. That's the bottom line. People just don't like it when their fave isn't able to pull off big sales for promo singles.

It looks like the entire top 5 will be gaining once Rude and Summer get there.

"First Love" should be bolded- it had American Top 40 exposure over the weekend, and on-air album-listening promo yesterday (at least I think, on that last one).
Is there something that suddenly caused "Rude" to take off even more in the last few weeks?

Just like everyone was confident "Problem" was going to be #1, everyone is so confident "Rude" is going to be #1. Ok. The video killed any chances the song had of going to #1. I mean Ariana has no presence at all. She gets lost. It's almost like her dancers have more star power than she does. You don't release a video that makes an artist's weak points stand out in a bad way. It's obvious she is uncomfortable being the type of woman who can carry a song like Problem. Forcing her to dance in a video where she looks completely uncomfortable reinforces that and takes away from people's enjoyment of the song and video thus lowering streams to the point of it'll probably be impossible for her to get #1 on the HOT 100 short of a miracle.

Except the video is still #2 on Vevo, and the lyric video is #9. Not to mention #2 on Spotify, etc. It's got big streaming numbers.
