I feel the same way. Nickelback deserves a few weeks at the top more. Plus, I don't see any other potentially impacting Rock songs ahead of Foo Fighters. Seether has served as the nemesis of the Foo Fighters on Active for years..."Same Damn Life" could charge up there and take over in a heartbeat and I wouldn't at all be surprised. Idk, I can't really see "Same Damn Life" getting to the top at all, if not challenging "Something for Nothing". Just doesn't feel like a #1 song to me, not to mention it's a second single. I think Seether uprooted the Foo Fighters the past few eras because it was their lead singles that took over.

I donno, I personally find "Same Damn Life" to be so much better than any of their other second singles. The cheesy ballads and "Truth" were huge as second singles, so I really think "Same Damn Life" will follow suit. Top 3 at the very least, and posing a legitimate threat to this song's #1 stay. But yeah, you're right in that they usually line up (Remedy + Best Of You, Fake It + The Pretender, Country Song + Rope) so who knows?

I suppose "Tonight", but "Rise Above This" I found to have a very strong message about not offing yourself. Also, "Truth" only reached #8.

That's my least favourite Seether single so I can't say I care that much, haha.

Here's a preview to "Get 'Em Up" from the new album: vk.com/wall-987685_109153Second rock single should be out pretty soon with this out of the #1 spot. :( I would guess it is "Million Miles an Hour" based on past history though. This is alright, hope the whole song hits harder than this.

"Fine Again" a ballad? LOL. I'd say something like "The Gift" is.
But yeah, love "Broken". I can also sing it well on karaoke, lol.

Jeez you guys will call anything a ballad. I actually found "Words As Weapons" to have more of a alt rock ballad vibe cuz of the ooohoohoohs interlude after each chorus. next someone will call the "Careless Whisper" cover a ballad, just cuz it was a George Michael song.

That only means they can release their next single all the more faster.

Previews for the album leaked. Not much that could really be pushed to Active outside of "Million Miles an Hour" and "Get 'Em Up". It's soft, but it's surprisingly very different. This might make them relevant again. I could also see them having some Alt success. vk.com/wall-23787907_3685

"She Keeps Me Up" is so funky, I love it. The other two you mentioned are pretty good as well. Is this a joke? I could also see them having some Alt success. Nope.

Sadly it's not. :( He's going to ruin that song sooo hard. I like the funky thing they have with it though. Same with "She Keeps Me Up" (favorite probs so far). I take that back about the Alt thing. I was thinking maybe "The Hammer's Coming Down" was a little alt-y, but on further listens it's not.

Chad once did cameo vocals on some Timbaland album, so it doesn't surprise me 100% that that Flo -rida rapper is featured. What I really want to see is that interview were Chad and the band admit to the excitement and wanting this rapper featuered on thier album or was it a corporate's decision? The sad part would be be if they featured this rapper to gain popularity.

It was probably a mixture for exposure and to make it different.

Ok guys, since this thread is 14 pages long, I made a table of contents for what's on each page...
1. Let's defend Nickelback from the haters (who never actually showed up). 2. The State is an awesome album! 3. Which Nickelback ballads are cheesy? 4. Disney discussion & Should alternative stations give Nickelback a break? 5. Just how "pop" will they go this album? 6. *Song leaks* "This is better than we thought it would be", OMG LETS GRADE SINGLES 7. More grades, active updates, Lordeftones hates Nickelback. 8. Let's talk about Godsmack, just HOW bad is "1000HP"? 9. More Godsmack, "Edge Of A Revolution" video, "What Are You Waiting For?" leaks" 10. Pop posters angry with lack of "What Are You Waiting For?" promotion, Green Baron defends Sputnik, Will Foos/RHCP get us out of the Indie phase? 11. Random discussion about Dark Horse singles, album cover, "Edge Of A Revolution" hits #1 12. LETS GRADE ACTIVE AND ALT #1s OF 2014!!!!!!!! 13. Shadowscorp thinks 1000HP is better than all of the big alternative hits this year, more Godsmack talk, Florida Panthers 14. Just what constitutes a Seether ballad?, Dr. Indie starts talking about Timbaland

Predictions for first week sales....there doesn't seem to be as much interest in this band as there has been in the past. They outlived 3 Doors Down which I thought it would be the other way around but I think their multiplatinum days may be over.
PS - Their multiplatinum days may already be over. How much did their last album sell in the US?
Debut - 125,000 US

'Get 'Em Up' would be an epic rock single. The album is lighter than previous efforts but they haven't lost the plot like Daughtry did.
'She Keeps Me Up' is Nickelback funk ? Sounds f**cking epic.

For the record, I don't "hate" Nickelback entirely. I just hate what they've become.

So I was looking into the thread and noticed that everyone of us thought there was going to be songs about sex and drinking on the album, typical Nickelback. There are none...
IS THIS REAL LIFE?

I'd rather have songs about sex and drinking than songs that feature rapping by Flo-Rida.
