Rather Be All My Life Say Something
Easily her worst album. The rambling, stream of consciousness throughout the album brings it down. I couldn’t for the life of me tell you what the first two songs were about. Sadly, the drop in quality from 2/11 is quite dramatic and it was previewed when BM dropped. I hope she never writes an entire album again.
That said, production is top notch on the album. I love the variety what DJ came up with. Particularly on “All My Life” and “Rather Be”. She brought the vocals including the right harmonies and background vocals.
Overall: 5/10

Independently this woman made one of her finest bodies of work ever and an album that is truly special.

I listened during the listening party livestream, and I'm not impressed. The second half of the album is definitely better than the first half. This is by far her worst album to date.

I'm half and half with the album.
The good: Her voice is absolutely insane. It has so many textures and surprises. I don't think people really understand what she does. Her ear crazy. I feel like this album is much more inventive and adventurous than her last two, which I can appreciate. I thought the way they wove mental health terms/references throughout the album was clever. It feels like it was her way of freeing herself of some things that she has been going through without explicitly stating it.
The bad: Her wordy, clunky style of songwriting is just too much when it's paired with all the overbearing vocal arrangements. It's hard to follow. And what was the point in these "All My Life" interludes if they were going to be drowned out like that? That was an odd creative choice. I also can't believe she used the "R" word in "I Am More"...in 2020.
Overall, it's a solid effort, especially for an indie album, and I can tell she loves the material. My favorites are "Rather Be," "Borderline," "No Tomorrow," "Say Something" and "I Am More."

This is an album for the Brandy-nerds (everything before All My Life pt.2 anyway), so I love it, but it will be tough for the casual fans to digest this.

Chile... what the fuck is she even singing about? The lyrics are largely indecipherable until fucking track 8. I was already nervous about her writing the entire album but I didn’t think she’d totally abandon melodic structure just to do more of this tuneless, amorphous R&B “vibe” shit like everybody else. Hella disappointed in DJ Camper and Hit Boy not helping guide her down a more structured path. And yet the deluded Brandy stans are already hailing this a masterpiece just because she knows how to layer vocals and do a million runs.
Props to the engineer because the mix is on point. That’s about it. She lost me with this one.

After a few listens, this is easily a top 3 album from her adult catalog, no contest, no questions asked. Her tone, the vocal stacks, her riffs/runs...all the signature elements of Brandy are here. This album will definitely be an acquired taste for some. It goes way left field, kinda like some of her unreleased material.
Rather Be, Lucid Dreams, Borderline, I Am More, and Say Something are my faves. Honorable mention to “High Heels” too, Sy’Rai did her thing. I saw some were saying that song was awful, but I fuck with it.

I knew I was in trouble when I was listening to the first track and I was like DAMN this is long, look at the timer and I was only two minutes in. I think most of the production is very adventurous, as are the vocal arrangements. But this is amelodic, rambling, the hooks are non-existent. I can't even say this album is a vibe, simply because it's so hectic/unfocused. Such a frustrating listen.
And this is coming from a lifelong Brandy STAN and fanatic. Her worst album and easily her worst album vocally IMO. We all know Brandy's voice has incredible texture and that her vocal layering is unmatched, but she's reduced her voice to just that and forgot to, well... sing.
I can't believe I'm not going to buy a Brandy album. Like this doesn't even make sense to me.

Rather Be No Tomorrow Say Something Bye Bipolar
With that said, this album could’ve been so much better.

She sounds good, but that's about it. This is easily her worst album. I've never been a fan of Human either, but I liked the singles at least. I agree with others' comments about it lacking hooks and melodies and the lyrics being a lot of rambling.

So you are telling me I waited damn near 10 years for this??? I don’t know....I can’t say I was disappointed after the tragic BabyMama. Saving All My Love And Rather Be are cool but something about this album. The interludes aren’t necessary.

I gotta listen in full without interruptions, but from what I heard on the live stream, it sounded over-compressed, overproduced, and kinda messy. I get she’s going for a different sound, but the smooth quality of her older stuff shines above what I’ve heard on B7. I’ll listen in full today. Hoping the second half is better than the first.

Brandy will never be able recreate the essence of her past albums, that’s just impossible lolz. She always switches things up, which is why she is somewhat polarizing as an artist. The clearest example of this is, stans will call Full Moon her best album, while non fans will say it’s Afrodisiac. Let’s be real here, Human is without a doubt her worst album. That car accident changed the entire trajectory of that project. Two Eleven is better, but it gets points mainly for not being Human. Even Two Eleven doesn’t escape sounding like heated leftovers from other artists. I’m thinking the vibe/sound of this album is closer to what she was leaning towards after Afrodisiac, and if that’s the case, I ain’t mad at that.
One more thing: are y’all are listening with headphones? If not, seriously grab a pair and give it another listen. It might change your view a bit, who knows?

I think being able to hum a melody and sing along to songs is what’s supposed to make music fun and I can’t do it with this album for the most part. I see why Baby Mama was the first single.

She’s definitely being helped sales/streaming wise by social media. She’s still trending and the album has now entered top 3 overall in itunes.

It's a great album, of course maybe you can't get on the first listen, but Brandy snapped Borderline is DOPE
Anyway I'm happy about her confidence on this project she truly belivies it different from Two Eleven and Human

Ok so.... I listened to the album with my Beats and you know what?
This is actually nice background music 👀.
I like the overall mood and flow of the album words really cannot describe this woman’s vocals.
The incoherent and subpar lyrics is the main drawback with this album.
Standouts: No Tomorrow Love Again Borderline
Honorable mentions: Rather Be Baby Mama High Heels
6 out of 10.

I really think ppl are overreacting it. It's something very different from Brandy's previous work
It's a cohesive album and even with a track like "Baby Mama", it doesn't get lost
Unconditional Oceans, Borderline, No Tomorrow, Say Something, I A More and Bye Bipolar got my attention

I've just listened to this album back to back twice and the only standout to me is Baby Mama. Everything else lacks good melodies, catchiness. I've spent 1 1/2 hours listening to it and I still can't quite remember any song or melody in it. Her vocals are insane, and wouldn't expect anything less from her, but that's about it.

This album is a hot mess, sorry. I didn’t know when a track would start and when it would end. The songwriting and execution of it all is bizarre. It’s like there’s no actual songs... just tons of layers of vocals at any random moment that sound like schizophrenic thoughts.
Like I really didn’t know what was going on the whole time
