@windmillscountry - Rodney Clawson on co-writing Jason Aldean's "Burnin' It Down": "We didn't put a ton of thought into it". You don't say.

The part I thought was weird is when he said "We wrote it basically kind of as a pop song with kind of a little of a vague, sexual, druggy lyric". What the hell does druggy mean? They were trying to make this song sound as if you're high? I thought that was a bit odd.

Maybe writing all the "bro-Country" songs they're copying and pasting in ten minutes are turning their brains to mush.

I couldn't help but notice that they consciously wrote a country song "as a pop song" 2 years ago. *insert eye roll here*

I'm not a big fan of this song, but I haven't been a fan of any of his lead singles since "Johnny Cash" but have subsequently loved a lot of the other singles from his albums. So I'm hoping this one just shoots up to #1 and goes away quickly so we can move on to a better single.

This is holding up pretty well on iTunes. I expected it to drop out of the Top 10 by now.

This song is absolutely awful. Trying to make Aldean a crossover success is fairly comical in my opinion. Regardless, wish Broken Bow would focus more on their artists like James Wesley as opposed to pushing horrible songs like this one with an artist that is already doing well, which I know it's their bread and butter but still. Unfortunately this one will probably go #1 as well though, just give it time.

"I wanna rock it all night, girl will you rock it out with me?" I've heard this a few times now on various stations and I can now say that this line is probably my second least favorite part of the song. His vocals doesn't sound that great to me on that part and I cringe when I hear it. My least favorite line is the "naked" line. The word doesn't offend me, nor do I think it's taboo. The word really isn't that bad of a word, and I agree with some that have brought that up. The reason I don't like it used in a song, is because it sounds so stupid and childish to me. I think the reason it hasn't been used before in this context within a song is because it doesn't sound good lyrically and songwriters never thought of putting it into a song. Just my opinion, that I was thinking about today.

Yeah I agree, that line sounds cheap and for shock value. Of course if they're 'burning it down', chances are they are naked, so why have to mention it in the song? Sounds kind of attention seeking, to me.

Sounds kind of attention seeking, to me. The way I see it, they included those lines/words because they were trying to push the envelope a bit, and make something that was edgier. It's all personal taste though. I like the "naked" line, and I appreciate this song being made more for adults.

This man can cool it down by doing the Ice Bucket Challenge any day.
Back to the topic, I'm not a prude, but I'm not a fan of this song, mostly because of the naked line.

I think I like this one. I have no problem with the naked line.
Hi, my name is Bobby Peacock and I'm a Jason Aldean apologist.

I'm kinda meh with this song. I don't dislike it but I don't really like it. It's catchy especially the bridge. Personally the naked line is a turn off, similar to the way I felt about the ass line in Ready, Set, Roll.

True or false: I'm the only one who still thinks this won't really make it to #1 (on the airplay charts).

Album artwork; confirmed by Billboard to be out 10/7. I like this, it's a different feel for him for an album title.

I will be really curious to see who sells more albums their first week: Jason or Florida Georgia Line. I think Fla Ga Line will debut with higher sales, but it will be interesting because Burnin' It Down is selling better than Dirt right now.

I like the title, but I still hope that he has his signature Jason sound, although less bro-country is always a plus, so I'm hoping that's the new dirt.

Oh look! Jason is trying something new. An album cover with a sullen facial expression <sarcasm font>

Hell , I couldnt even find a singles cover with a hint of a smile. Can't tarnish that "I'm a badass" image perhaps?

I'm not going to get into a circular argument over it , I'll just point to his album covers as an obvious image hes trying to exude .

Disappointed in video - very, very slow and boring. Doesn't come close to capturing the heat of the song. Oh, well. Was surprised to see this lose audience in update and only small spin gain. I'm guessing just a temporary blip. With the album out in 5 weeks and digital sales still super solid, it's up to radio to decide if they are all in. Clearly, it's resonating with a large number of country fans.

I just can't warm up to this song. I don't necessarily think it's the song itself, for me I think it's more to do with it coming from Jason. With everything that's happened with him I just don't need a sex song from him. Maybe if someone else released it it'd be a different story, but even then I can't think of anyone who would do that.

With everything that's happened with him I just don't need a sex song from him. Maybe if someone else released it it'd be a different story, but even then I can't think of anyone who would do that. Whether you think Jason should have recorded a song like this for his upcoming album, that's one thing, and I understand why you feel that way regarding his recent marriage ending; But this song was Broken Bow's decision on it being the lead single or a single at all. As much as I dislike this song (and every time it comes on I like it even less than I did the previous time I heard it), it does have that polarizing, different enough feel for a lead single. I actually never think of artists personal lives when listening to their music, as I have a sense of it's not really my business to interest myself with it, but this song definitely doesn't seem like a song for someone who's coming off a public divorce. As for the song's chart run - It's actually had a fairly smooth sail to the top 10, as it currently sits at #9 on the MB rolling chart with a 485 spin increase over the past seven days, though there's a very wide gap between #9 Jason (4544 Spins/32.9 million Audience) and #8 Luke (5965 Spins/45 million Audience). While it's iTunes sales (which have already been widely noted so far) have been stellar. Country radio obviously doesn't see any problems with "Burnin' It Down" being in heavy rotation even though I personally feel this song has very little in the way of country music aspects.
