"People Loving People" debuts at #25 on MB this week. This is an honest question. What do you think Garth think's of this being a #25 debut. Most predictions were it would be a lot higher than that. You know Garth had a lot planning and promo in place for this. How do you think Garth feels about it. I didn't really see many people predicting where this would debut, here or elsewhere. There was of course that strange Billboard article on Thursday that speculated a top 10 or top 15 debut, but I have no idea why they thought that. I think they got a little too excited about Garth's first-day radio numbers. The reality is that this is a strong start, and I think Garth is probably pleased. If Garth was indeed going after a really high debut, they would have sent this song to radio at 12:01 AM on Monday. But they sent it out on a Wednesday morning instead, so it only had 4 days of airplay on MB and only 5 at BB. I still don't know if I see this song getting all the way to the top, and I was never the hugest Garth fan back in the day, but I AM glad that he's back. One of these days I will probably get around to buying his catalog for $29.99 or whatever the price was--it's a heck of a deal.

I think that Garth will do well with "People Loving People". There is so much hate toward him for releasing this song and I'm tired of it. I do believe he will do well because of the message in the song asking why people are so mean. He is number one on Mediabase so there's that too. I don't see him debuting at number one again but I'm hoping at least Top 20.

First time I heard it, I didn't like it.
Heard it again on the radio today and it's not bad at all. The production isn't "bad," it's just circa 1985. The song itself is pretty good. #1, probably not. The Garth effect will get it pretty high I assume.

Let's hope that that happens. I would like to see a #19 debut as well.

She did but it was directed toward one person in general. Garth is directing this song toward everyone.

I have everything EXCEPT the Chris Gaines project. However, my sister ONLY has the Gaines CD. I wonder if she is really my sister or not.

NASH FM played the new song this morning, and then they interviewed Garth. I think that Garth said that this song is the A-side of his single and the B-side is more of a traditional Garth Brooks sound. I am not sure what that means. The B-SIDE Garth is referring to is a song called "Send 'Em On Down" which you get free if you purchase "People Loving People". He is right in the fact that "Send 'Em On Down" is more traditional Garth (very much so). It's a pretty cool song and well written, but just like "PLP" the overall mix is absolutely awful! As for "People Loving People", at first I wasn't sure what the heck to think. I was so excited to hear Garth on the radio again. I actually heard it premier on the Bobby Bones show and had to take a double take of "was that really the song Garth is releasing first?", I don't LOVE it. But, I can say that after a few more listens that I do like the song, the chorus is extremely catchy, the tracks sound like Kenny Chesney to me (but then again Kenny Greenberg played lead guitar on this track and he's on all of Kenny's records, so go figure), I just wish the overall production (mix/master) was better. The vocals are definitely buried in the mix which doesn't help it any and there are no umph to the drums, they sound sooooo flat and dated (well, the entire mix sounds dated). It's possible that is what Garth was going for, a more vintage sound yet still modern but I think he failed there. To me it just sounds rushed. After hearing "Send 'Em On Down" then I realized that ALL the songs are gonna have that outdated mix & production to them though (which is disappointing). None the less, I do like this song, it's not my favorite from Garth and "Send 'Em On Down" & "Tacoma" are very promising and I look forward to hearing more from the new record.

I just bought the whole digital bundle. I'm not a country fan, mostly a pop listener but I've always loved Garth's voice. I'm not crazy about the new single, it's straight but HAC alley for me. Which you'd think would be a good thing, but it's not very Garth like. I guess that's what he wanted. I do like the ballad though and I hope I can catch him on tour.

I wish people would stop the criticism of Garth Brooks' comeback. Y'all should not be this critical and doubtful of his new songs becoming hits! And y'all shouldn't be doubtful of GhostTunes' ability to sell music.

The Garth effect will get it pretty high I assume. Given that 80s rock/pop sounds have infiltrated country in some way or another, that seems to be what they were aiming for, that retro yet still somehow modern feel.

And y'all shouldn't be doubtful of GhostTunes' ability to sell music. Why not? Is Garth somehow invincible to criticism? If people don't like his song, then they don't like it. It even sounds like many on this board really want to like this song, but they can't help but feel underwhelmed. That's the nature of the music industry, when you release music it is open to criticism. And there are many who are doubtful of GhostTune's ability to sell music, including Billboard: www.billboard.com/articles/business/6244029/garth-brooks-itunes-ghosttunes.

8. BROOKS' 50: Garth Brooks turns the half century mark this week. In honor of his 50th birthday, we will rank his 50 biggest hits. For songs peaking at #1 or #2, weeks in those positions are first, followed by weeks in the top 40. For all other songs, their stay in the top 40 will determine their ranking. Ready? 1. Friends In Low Places-1990-4-19 2. What She's Doing Now-1992-4-19 3. Longneck Bottle-1997-3-20 4. The Dance-1990-3-18 5. Shameless-1991-2-20 6. Unanswered Prayers-1991-2-19 7. Ain't Going Down Til The Sun Comes Up-1993-2-17 8. The Thunder Rolls-1991-2-16 9. If Tomorrow Never Comes-1989-1-23 10. More Than A Memory-2007-1-20 11. Two Of A Kind, Workin' On A Full House-1991-1-19 12. To Make You Feel My Love-1998-1-18 13. That Summer-1993-1-16 14. She's Every Woman-1995-1-16 15. Two Pina Coladas-1998-1-15 16. The Beaches Of Cheyenne-1996-1-15 17. The River-1992-1-14 18. American Honky-Tonk Bar Association-1993-1-14 19. Somewhere Other Than The Night-1993-1-14 20. In Another's Eyes-with Trisha Yearwood-1997-2-19 (#2) 21. She's Gonna Make It-1998-1-18 (#2) 22. Not Counting You-1990-1-17 (#2) 23. Learning To Live Again-1993-1-14 (#2) 24. Callin' Baton Rouge-1994-1-13 (#2) 25. Good Ride Cowboy-2005 (#3) 26. You Move Me-1998 (#3) 27. Standing Outside The Fire-1994 (#3) 28. Papa Loved Mama-1992 (#3) 29. Rodeo-1991 (#3) 30. That Ol' Wind-1996 (#4) 31. Wrapped Up In You-2002 (#5) 32. It's Midnight Cinderella-1996 (#5) 33. Wild Horses-2001 (#7) 34. One Night A Day-1994 (#7) 35. Watcha Gonna Do With A Cowboy-with Chris LeDoux-1992 (#7) 36. Much Too Young To Feel This Damn Old-1989 (#8) 37. It's Your Song-1998 (#9) 38. We Shall Be Free-1992 (#12) 39. Do What You Gotta Do-2000 (#13) 40. Squeeze Me In-with Trisha Yearwood-2002 (#16) 41. Thicker Than Blood-2002 (#18) 42. Where Your Road Leads-with Trisha Yearwood-1998 (#18) 43. Love Will Always Win-with Trisha Yearwood-2006 (#23) 48. The Fever-1995 (#23) 49. Beer Run-with George Jones-2001 (#24) 50. Why Ain't I Running-2003 (#24)
That was the list of the top 50 Garth Brooks songs according to his Billboard country chart performance. People Loving People just debuted at #19, pushing Why Ain't I Running out of the top 50. The current single would rank at #45. Once it peaks, I will redo this list with its proper placement.

If you don't like it then you may want to find another forum cause giving opinions whether critical or praise is what Pulse is about. It's discussing each of our differing opinions, not telling the other posters how we should feel about whatever the subject matter is.

This is a snooze. Guess it was too much to hope he'd deliver something as good as "More Than A Memory" in 2014's horrendous radio climate.
It's a sad day when even the legends stop trying,

It's a sad day when even the legends stop trying, Really? I highly doubt he stopped trying. This song might not be your cup of tea but there are plenty who do like it. And I'm sure Garth didn't just decide to un-retire so he could have the opportunity to 'not try' at having a strong and successful career again.

He had a strong debut at number 19. "People Loving People" is a great single and for me it's not about the sound it's about the message.

Do I think this is the best Garth song, of course not, but it's a very catchy & somewhat strong comeback single for him. I feel he's got stronger songs in the pot but they just don't have all of them ready just yet. 122 Mediabase Adds for the week is stating that Radio is ready for Garth to be back..... I'm ready for Garth to be back.... whether it's this song or not, it is NOT Bro Country and is completely different than Bro C-Rap (Thank God). Welcome back Garth. We need more songs like this on the airwaves to balance out all the BS. For those that strongly hate this song, then most likely you are a Bro fan. Just sayin' HA j/k (ok, maybe not)

Ok so I got the 2 new songs and have really enjoyed both of them. Now today iTunes has somehow lost my file and can't locate it. I tried to download it again from my original email from Garth Brooks store and it won't let me. I was really loving this song too! Anyone have a solution to how I can fix this? I know if I sync my ipod I will lose the song and I just downloaded the new Lee Brice and Dustin Lynch albums too!

He bought them straight through Garthbrooks.com like I did which doesn't have a clear way to re-download. GhostTunes stores them in the cloud and can be streamed from any device as well as downloaded multiple times.
