Let's assume that Britney Spears doesn't really want to get involved in her music career... at the moment. Her team could very well invest in her catalogue. I'm thinking of "Scary" which has potential on TikTok as Halloween approaches. Making a video lyrics, and submitting the track to theme playlists on streaming platforms seems to me a good investment at a lower cost ( + merchandise bundles). Miley and Katy have July 4th. Mariah has Christmas. I don't see why Britney wouldn't have Halloween (besides the fact that her outfits are often used in costumes at this time of the year).

I'm really confused about recent things regarding her music career. First she changes the Glory cover art and then they have Mood Ring released to streaming platforms. Both of these things came out of nowhere and it makes me wonder what's next...
It's almost like something is coming.

Slightly off topic but It’s cool to see Jamie Lynn on Netflix’s new show “Sweet Magnolias”. It’s currently #1 too. She was treated unfairly by the press/public for her teenage pregnancy at the time so It’s nice to see her back succeeding.

Glory was an ignored album so maybe its recent resurgence gave Brit some boost in confidence that there are still people out there who love her music so maybe she pushed for the new cover and Mood Ring herself as a sign of appreciation towards her fans.

Mood Ring is...a mood? Lol I’m really into it. I’ll be honest, I was so happy with the Glory we got I only listened to it maybe once back in the day. I didn’t even remember what it sounded like.
I like this as a direction for her. I think hot ac would play this and I think that’s the format she should be thinking about.

I think that the HOT AC format may correspond to her core audience (women around 30ish years old), even if Make Me and Slumber Party didn't work (both track weren't even Top 30 I guess). P!nk, Katy Perry and Kelly Clarkson are much more supported by this format than CHR/POP now. Maybe for a possible comeback, she should participate to HOT AC morning shows in the most important markets (New York / Los Angeles / Chicago / Philadelphia / Dallas), instead of doing it only in the Tpo 40 format.

Hold up...I'm streaming Glory right now and don't recognize any of the songs? What was the first single when this was released?
Nevermind...must have been Make Me as it has 108 million streams.

Make Me... was the first single and Slumber Party was remixed with Tinashe as the second single. There was not a third.

I’m really curious to learn what’s going on with this. They could have released it to streaming services/iTunes as a one-off single, but instead they tacked it onto a four-year-old album that they’re not re-releasing and haven’t re-recorded the existing tracks on. I can’t see the purpose in them trying to rebuild momentum for an era from four years ago, so what is that deal?
It would make sense if they’re testing the streaming numbers over the next couple weeks to see how they look once the initial interest dies down. Personally, I think it’s a really strong track and, if the figures correspond, could see her team sending this to Pop/HAC. It’s fresh and new music from Britney still generates interest. It would be pleasant to see her regain some of her footing.

Us hardcore stans who've been in the known of its existence have been bopping to it for almost half a decade already but this wide release and the response makes it fresh again. Her power knows no boundaries.

Artists repurposing a single from one project to another isn’t unheard of, and Britney herself has done it (“Radar”). They very well could have released this as its own single, only her hardcore stans would know it was attached to the Japanese deluxe.
They probably kept it on Glory because they didn’t want people to have unrealistic expectations about a possible upcoming era, though. Some media outlet would have inevitably gotten people’s hopes up.

I’m just a big Britney fan and was happy to hear the ‘new’ song. I love it! This is exciting to learn about!

Re-recording the track makes it eligible for the awards circuit, etc.

Apologies if this was already mentioned. I got into a new show on Netflix called "Sweet Magnolias". It took me a few episodes to figure out why this actress looked so familiar. It's Britney's kid sister Jaime Lynn.

Still #1 on iTunes. I wonder if this will even get any test spins anywhere. I think it would sound right at home on radio - pop and especially hot ac.

"Mood Ring" has dropped down to #2 on the main iTunes sales chart, swapping places with "Rain On Me".
In a strange turn of events, several of her music videos have made a resurgence on the MV chart:
1. Toxic 3. I'm A Slave 4 U 4. Circus 6. ... Baby One More Time 8. Oops! I Did It Again 12. Womanizer 26. Gimme More
