Taking a break for a bi and I'll post the top 40 of 1993 next! What is a bi? Just asking! Anyway, I always thought the ranking of the biggest songs of 1992 were strange. According to the American Country Countdown and Billboard, I Saw The Light by Wynonna Judd was tops while Billy Ray Cyrus' Achy Breaky Heart was second. If I were to rank the hits according to weeks at #1 followed by weeks in the top 40, Cyrus would finish first because he spent five weeks at the top and 16 weeks in the top 40 while Judds' stats are three weeks at #1 and 18 weeks in the top 40. If I were a betting man, it looks like all the #2s from 1992 are listed (titles 26-40). Taking a break for a bit is what it was supposed to be and yes that's all the #2's for 1992 but 3. Two Sparrows In A Hurricane, Could've Been Me and Every Second are the 3 missing. This is how Joel Whitburn ranked them in his book. If you go look at the rankdown thread for 1994 and look in the book he has Pickup Man by Joe Diffie at #1 while Billboard had I Swear by John Michael Montgomery at #1 on their year end chart. Whitburn has I Swear at #2 but the interesting thing is both songs spent the same amount of weeks at #1 (4 weeks) and on the chart (20 weeks). What he done for a tiebreaker I don't know but that's how he ranked them. 1993 coming now! I would not consider Pickup Man as the top hit of 1994. It spent four weeks at #1 between December, 1994-January, 1995. That would put it in Billboard 1995 (12-94 to 11-95). I Swear should have been the biggest hit of the year. Billboard and the American Country Countdown got it right.

onebuffalo I understand what you’re saying about Joe Diffie’s “Pickup Man”. Joel did the same thing in the book with some other songs. In particular Faith Hill’s “Breathe” he has as the #2 song of 1999. If I remember correctly it spent only one week at #1 in 1999 and 5 weeks at #1 in 2000. Just based on them 2 songs and the others I’ve seen I think he’s basing his charts on the year the songs actually peaked.

CoJoFan in my tabulation of total Top Tens for Reba is 60 you have 59 listed. My list includes all of her Top Ten singles from her own studio album singles as well as 2 Top Ten singles from other artists who’s single she appeared on: 1) "Montana Cafe" - Hank Williams Jr. Warner Brothers (1986) #1 "Mind Your Own Business" (with Reba McEntire, Tom Petty, Reverend Ike and Willie Nelson) Issue Date December 27, 1986 2) ”Cowboy Town" - Brooks & Dunn Arista Nashville (2007) #2 "Cowgirls Don't Cry" (Reba Duet) Issue Date March 28, 2009 I assume you either missed one of these singles or chose not to include one in your tabulation.

Billboard sadly doesn’t count the song with Hank Jr. as a top 10 for her. Here’s a link to her chart history and you’ll see they have her at 59 as well. www.billboard.com/music/reba-mcentire/chart-history/country-songs/5

I’m a little confused of how to tabulate with the change from Hot Country Songs to Country Airplay reflecting the official charting of country singles before and after Hot Country Songs reflected solely radio airplay vs to now when they combined all 3 charts (Digital, and Streaming, and radio play) and Country Airplay now reflects solely radio play. My confusion is because: “Until They Don't Love You” only charted on Airplay not Hot Country Songs. Country Airplay “Until They Don't Love You” Reba Peaked at #48 on 9.19.2015 AND “Just Like Them Horses” only charted on Hot Country Songs. Hot Country Songs “Just Like Them Horses” Reba Peaked at #37 on 2.13.2016 So which song gets credit for her official charting? This reflects a possible addition of a Top 40 also if “Just Like Them Horses“ is counted vs “Until They Don't Love You” but my understanding is that Country Airplay is the chart used now to tabulate official charting. Example: this past week Blake Shelton “God’sCountry” promo ad promoted the single debuting at #24 (Country Airplay) vs #46 (Hot Country Songs) Another reason I’m asking is to list the correct peak# for “Going Out Like That” is it #28 or #23? Weird how you the song peaked on both charts 2 months apart. Hot Country Songs Going Out Like That Reba Peaked at #23 on 5.9.2015 Hot Country Songs Going Out Like That Reba Peaked at #28 on 7.4.2015

RobbyFlorida I don’t follow the Hot Country Songs chart anymore. I just follow Country Airplay. Thanks will do. I can tell you that all of Reba’s top 10 singles were under Hot Country Songs. She has yet to chart a top 10 on Country Airplay. The actual Country Airplay chart didn’t start until the middle of 2013.

Thomas album that has his singles "Whatever Happened To Old Fashioned Love" and "New Looks From An Old Lover" both on it? Here we go. To answer your questions in the order given: 1. I did not check Discogs for the RCA compilation of MTM hits. The song you're looking for, S-K-O's only chart topper can be found at Amazon. Here is a link (with actual track listing): www.amazon.com/New-Country-One-Judy-Rodman/dp/B0007RSI142. You can find B.J. Thomas' two chart toppers (when he had a country contract with Columbia Records between 1982-1987) on two albums: 1983's New Looks and 2017's New Looks From An Old Lover: The Complete Columbia Singles. Check out his version of The Wind Beneath My Wings which was a huge hit for Gary Morris in 1983. 3. Here is a video with album art for Slow Boat To China, The Girls Next Door's only top ten from 1986 (#8). Enjoy!

Also ordered the Best Of Crystal Gayle you had told me about in another thread. As for the album with S-K-O I’m not spending almost $70 for one song that I want. Maybe someday I’ll run into that compilation album in a pawn shop or thrift store. I’ve ran into the same predicament with Mark Chesnutt’s self titled album. It’s either pay $6 used if they have it at a record store or Amazon has it $31 new. Not buying it for that. That’s the only album of his I need to complete his albums too. Now looking to complete Travis Tritt.

I have a playlist of country #1 singles and it's one of the few I'm missing from that playlist. Actually it may be the only song now since I've ordered the Crystal Gayle and B.J. Thomas albums.

onebuffaloI started counting Hank’s song for Reba when I saw the post you added the Hank song years ago. I only found out this past week that Billboard.com as of today only lists Reba with 24 #1 Hits not including the Hank single so I revised my list. The chart record below only credits Hank not including: Reba, Willie Nelson, & Rev. Ike FYI: Billboard.com did count both Vince Gill’s “Oklahoma Swing” and Brooks & Dunn’s “Cowgirls Don’t Cry”

Upon further review of the song I’ve decided to count Reba and Willie as having a top 10. If I’m going to count Dierks on “Flatliner” and he’s not credited I might as well count them. If that’s the case then it’s interesting that with Reba’s vocal track on the song below which to me sounds very dominant and equal to the lead vocal track and not just harmony and charted at #25 is not recorded. Personally, I believe this was meant her only singing harmony despite how overpowering her vocal track is but it does sound a lot like the same situation as “Flatliner”. Again I agree this shouldn’t be included but under your rationale for “Flatliner” and “Mind Your Own Business”’I wanted to mention this song. youtu.be/JNiYFqFneqo

I'm going to stay with my original decision. I'll end up changing Dierks' top 10 total to 24 later.

As I mentioned in the post before we lost a legend from the top 10 all time list today in Earl Thomas Conley. From 1981 to 1989 he scored 24 top 10 hits. Then in the early 90's he scored his final 2 top 10's for a whopping total of 26 top 10's. Here's all 26 of his top 10 hits with a music video of one of my favorites of his at the end! Enjoy!
1. "Silent Treatment" (#7) Feb. 21, 1981 2. "Fire And Smoke" (#1) July 11, 1981 3. "Tell Me Why (#10) Jan. 16, 1982 4. "Heavenly Bodies" (#8) Aug. 28, 1982 5. "Somewhere Between Right And Wrong" (#1) Dec. 18, 1982 6. "I Have Loved You (But Not Like This Before)" (#2) Apr. 9, 1983 7. "Your Love's On The Line" (#1) Aug. 6, 1983 8. "Holding Her And Loving You" (#1) Nov. 26, 1983 9. "Don't Make It Easy For Me" (#1) Apr, 7, 1984 10. "Angel In Disguise" (#1) July 28,1984 11. "Chance Of Lovin' You" (#1) Dec. 8, 1984 12. "All Tangled Up In Love" with Gus Hardin (#8) Feb. 16, 1985 13. "Honor Bound" (#1) Apr. 13, 1985 14. "Love Don't Care (Whose Heart It Breaks)" (#1) July 27, 1985 15. "Nobody Falls Like A Fool" (#1) Dec. 14, 1985 16. "Once In A Blue Moon" (#1) May 3, 1986 17. "Too Many Times" with Anita Pointer (#2) Nov. 1, 1986 18. "I Can't Win For Losin' You" (#1) Feb. 28, 1987 19. "That Was A Close One" (#1) July 4, 1987 20. "Right From The Start" (#1) Oct. 31, 1987 21. "What She Is (Is A Woman In Love)" (#1) June 4, 1988 22. "We Believe In Happy Endings" with Emmylou Harris (#1) Oct. 1, 1988 23. "What I'd Say" (#1) Feb. 4, 1989 24. "Love Out Loud" (#1) June 17, 1989 25. "Shadow Of A Doubt" (#8) Aug. 24, 1991 26. "Brotherly Love" with Keith Whitley (#2) Nov. 16, 1991
Now to one of my favorite songs by him. This song coincidentally also ended up being the final top 10 of his and Keith Whitley's careers (Whitley had passed away before this was released). This song to me should've been a #1 hit but sadly was blocked from the #1 position by Garthe Brooks' "Shameless". Here is Earl and Keith's duet "Brotherly Love"
Billboard Chart Week Ending Nov. 16, 1991
1. Shameless - Garth Brooks 2. Brotherly Love - Keith Whitley & Earl Thomas Conley 3. Someday - Alan Jackson 4. Anymore - Travis Tritt 5. Hurt Me Bad (In A Real Good Way) - Patty Loveless 6. Like We Never Had A Broken Heart - Trisha Yearwood 7. Forever Together - Randy Travis 8. Then Again - Alabama 9. The Chill Of An Early Fall - George Strait 10. You Don't Count The Cost - Billy Dean

I was saddened to hear of the passing of Earl Thomas Conley. One of my all-time favorite artists. I ranked his ten biggest hits in November, 2010. This is what I said: 6. THEIR TEN BIGGEST: From Conlee to Conley. Earl Thomas, that is. These are his his ten biggest hits. Number of weeks at #1 are first and then number of weeks in the top 40 are second. 1. Nobody Falls Like A Fool-1985-1-15 2. Love Out Loud-1989-1-15 3. We Believe In Happy Endings-with Emmylou Harris-1988-1-15 4. Fire & Smoke-1981-1-14 5. Once In A Blue Moon-1986-1-14 6. What I'd Say-1989-1-14 7. Holding Her And Loving You-1983-1-14 8. Chance Of Lovin' You-1984-1-14 9. Right From The Start-1987-1-14 10. Angel In Disguise-1984-1-13 Now, I just found out about the passing of Jim Glaser. He had two careers in country music. He first had hits with his two other brothers called The Glaser Brothers. Out of seventeen top 40 hits between 1967-1982, they only managed two top ten hits. They are: 1. Rings-1971-#7 2. Lovin' Her Was Easier Than Anything I'll Ever Do Again-1981-#2 Then Jim embarked on a solo career. He scored two top tens in 1984. They are: 1. If I Could Only Dance With You-#10 2. You're Gettin' To Me Again-#1 By the way CoJoFan, I love your avatar.
