Closer at #1! Into You in the top 5! i hate u, i love u missed the top 3 by 1k points... so damn close :( Also great to see Stressed Out still hanging around in the top 10! Too Good reached top 10! (I don't love it or anything, but I do like it, so it's good to see it reach top 10) Also... nooooooooo!!!! Sing Me To Sleep dropped out! :( Also very sad to see This Girl and Never Be Like You (especially the former) drop out :( (Gonna mention this since I didn't comment on the last chart : I'm so glad Cold Water made it to #1! It really deserved it! Especially after being blocked by 2 songs)

The Chainsmokers hold atop the chart for a second week with "Closer" featuring Halsey and hold atop the Dance/Electronic Songs genre chart for a second week as well. The song became both acts' first #1 last week. The song gains by 45% in weekly points from last week (note that total points in the top 20 went up by 6.6% this week from last week). Could this be the start of one of the longest runs at #1 in the history of the chart? Or will something replace "Closer" at the top in the coming weeks? Stay tuned...
"Heathens" by twenty øne piløts rebounds 3-2 having spent 2 weeks at #1 in August. The song tops the Folk/Alternative Songs genre chart for an 8th consecutive week and gains by 40% in total points. Bad news for the piløts: "Stressed Out" falls 8-11 and sadly the consecutive run in the top ten ends after 37 straight weeks, and it will remain in second place for the longest consecutive run in the top ten. However, it's still possible for the song to return to the top ten and reach 40 TOTAL weeks in the top ten. Stay tuned to find out...
Swapping positions with "Heathens" from last week, "Cold Water" by Major Lazer featuring Justin Bieber and MØ falls 2-3, but gains by 33% in points. The song spent one week at #1 and was the first #1 for Justin Bieber. Meanwhile, another song he's featured in, "Let Me Love You" by DJ Snake bounds from #18 to a new peak of #12, and is looking to enter the top ten in the coming weeks. Will that give Bieber another #1? Stay tuned to find out...
gnash's "i hate u, i love u" featuring olivia o'brien holds at its #4 peak for a 3rd week, gaining by 32% in points. It is only the second song to spend 3 or more weeks at its peak position outside of the top 3 (the first was "GDFR" by Flo Rida featuring Sage the Gemini and Lookas). But will this be its peak? Or will it manage to pass some of the songs above it and reach an even higher peak and make the singers' debut chart hit possibly also become their first #1? Stay tuned...
Charlie Puth scores his second top 5 hit and his first as a lead artist with "We Don't Talk Anymore" featuring Selena Gomez which flies up 17-5 in its second week on the chart with a whopping 226% gain in points. It is Gomez's 4th top 5 hit and 5th top 10 hit. Neither artist has had a #1 so far ("Same Old Love" reached as high as #2 nearly a year ago), so this would be the first #1 for both acts should it hit #1. Evidently, I can actually tolerate this song unlike "One Call Away".
Drake's "Too Good" featuring Rihanna climbs to a new peak of #6. It is looking to enter the top 5. In fact, this is the fourth song with Drake and Rihanna together to be in the top 10 on my chart. Previously, "What's My Name?" was in the top ten (possibly top 5, I don't remember for sure and I lost that data) at the launch of the chart (and probably would've peaked at #2 in November 2010), "Take Care" spent 1 week at #1 in January 2012 and "Work" reached #9 earlier this year. This would be the second #1 for Drake ft. Rihanna if it made it there. Previously, Eminem ft. Rihanna reached #1 with "The Monster" in 2013-2014 and "Love the Way You Lie" would've spent about 15 weeks at #1 in 2010...but my chart wasn't officially around at that time. :(
Ariana Grande's "Into You" falls 5-7 after becoming her 8th top five hit last week.
Mike Posner's "I Took A Pill In Ibiza (SeeB Remix)" slips 7-8 and is now the oldest song still in the top ten. It has spent all 31 of its weeks on the chart so far in the top 10, extending its record for the most consecutive weeks staying in the top ten after debuting in it. It also ties "Uptown Funk!" for the sixth-longest consecutive run in the top ten and ties "Uptown Funk!", "Party Rock Anthem", "Counting Stars" and "Cake by the Ocean" for the 8th-longest total stay in the top ten. The song spent 17 weeks at #1 spanning from March to August of this year.
"This Girl" by Kungs vs. Cookin' On 3 Burners re-enters the chart at a new peak of #9. This is the first top ten for both acts. It gained from radio exposure and subsequent renewed interest.
Calvin Harris lands his 9th top ten hit (8th as a lead artist) as "My Way" is this week's hot shot debut at #10. The song is vying to become his 7th top 5 on the chart.
"Never Be Like You" by Flume re-enters the chart at its peak of #14. This is the first time that a song has peaked at a position not inside the top 10 for 3 or more weeks. I was hoping it'd make the top ten, but now it's not looking very likely...
Fifth Harmony's "All In My Head (Flex)" re-enters the chart at #20. The song peaked at #12 in August.

"Starboy" by The Weeknd manages to impress me enough during the week to become the 5th song to debut at #1 since the launch of the chart. I said the number 5 is special this week not only because "Starboy" is the fifth song to debut at #1, but also because it gives The Weeknd his fifth number one on the chart, tying him with Maroon 5 and Eminem for the most #1's since the launch of the chart in December 2010. Daft Punk land their second #1 on the chart following "Get Lucky" which spent 4 non-consecutive weeks at #1 in 2013. It is also their first appearance on the chart since "Instant Crush" reached #6 in March 2014. The song debuts atop the R&B Songs chart too, dethroning "Too Good" after spending its one and only week (so far at least) atop that genre chart. Prior to that, "One Dance" led for a record 21 consecutive weeks before Drake replaced himself at #1 there. "Starboy" debuts with 234k points - the highest weekly point total of any song since "I Took A Pill In Ibiza (SeeB Remix)" by Mike Posner led with 244k points on the week of June 23rd, its 10th of 17 weeks at #1 (ITAPII had 9 weeks of 200k+ points). Will "Starboy" have a quick rise and fall, or is it the next big hit/long-running #1 on my chart and finish high on the year-end chart? Stay tuned...
As such, "Closer" by The Chainsmokers featuring Halsey, the first #1 for both acts, slips 1-2 after spending 2 weeks at the top. It tops the Dance/Electronic Songs genre chart for a third consecutive week ("Starboy" was ineligible even though it has Daft Punk as it counts towards the R&B Songs chart and to me doesn't really sound like an EDM song). The song only slips by 5.6% in points to 201k and is still holding pretty strong. Will it be able to hold its ground take back over at #1 next week? Based on how strong "Closer" has held this week and the relative points of the top two, it's certainly a possibility...
"Heathens" by twenty øne piløts slips 2-3 after having spent two weeks at #1 in August. The song posts a 9th consecutive week atop the Folk/Alternative Songs chart. The song, however, gains by 7.4% in points this week.
Major Lazer's "Cold Water" featuring Justin Bieber and MØ slips 3-4 having topped the chart for one week three weeks earlier. The song, like "Heathens" increases in points, with a 3.1% gain from last week. The song was the second #1 for Major Lazer and MØ and the first one for Justin Bieber. But does he have another #1 on the way?
Drake scores his 11th top 5 hit on the chart and 8th as a lead and Rihanna her 12th overall and 5th as a featured act. Turns out Rihanna holds the record for the most top 5's on my chart, it seems. The song increases by 48% in total points and is looking like it's having a real second wind which can boost its year-end chart performance. It is also the second Drake ft. Rihanna song to reach the top 5 after "Take Care" which spent 1 week at #1 in January 2012. Will this be their second collab to reach #1?
"My Way" by Calvin Harris climbs 10-6 in its second week on the chart. He previously reached #2 with "This Is What You Came For" in July of this year.
Following the premiere of its video (as well as other factors), "Starving" by Hailee Steinfeld and Grey featuring Zedd resurges 16-7 in its 10th week on the chart. The song topped the chart for one week in August and became the first #1 for Hailee Steinfeld and Grey and the second for Zedd (both of them being songs he's featured on, the first being "Break Free" by Ariana Grande).
Mike Posner's "I Took A Pill In Ibiza (SeeB Remix)" holds at #8, having spent all 32 of its weeks on the chart in the top ten. It extends its record for the most consecutive weeks staying in the top ten after debuting in the top ten and passes "Uptown Funk!" for the 6th-longest consecutive run in the top ten. It also passes "Uptown Funk!", "Cake by the Ocean", "Counting Stars" and "Party Rock Anthem" and ties "Get Lucky" for the 7th-most total weeks in the top ten. How much longer will it be able to keep up?
Drake's "One Dance" featuring Wizkid and Kyla rebound 15-9 and spends an 18th week in the top ten. I never would've expected it to have this kind of longevity at all and I'm truly impressed
Sia scores her 6th top ten hit (4th as a lead act) and Kendrick his 3rd (all as a featured act; "Swimming Pools (Drank) charted but failed to make the top ten unfortunately) as "The Greatest" debuts at #10 on the chart. It is her second top ten debut after "Elastic Heart" featuring The Weeknd and Diplo which debuted at its peak position of #5 in March 2015 (her highest peak to date as a lead act). "Cheap Thrills" reached #9 in June of this year. Could "The Greatest" be the breakthrough hit for her on my chart that ends up doing better than all of its predecessors and possibly even give her her first #1?
"Broccoli" by D.R.A.M. featuring Lil Yachty debuts at #19 on the chart. I don't really like this song due to its lyrics, I just listened to it a couple times that week, so don't expect it to do too well.
Oh and this week I decided to include points for songs that dropped out too (yes in previous weeks some songs did get points the week they dropped out even though I didn't include them in the points section)
