Are there any album tracks that you always thought were singles, but then later found out weren't?
I can name a few, based on them either having a video, or from local radio stations playing them regularly (before finding out about the process of songs going for adds, and all of that).
Garth Brooks - "The Red Strokes"
I was actually pretty surprised when I found out that this was never an official single from In Pieces. It had a video, and radio here played it as if it were a single. It was released internationally, though. Two more songs from that album that radio here played regularly were "The Night Will Only Know", and "The Night I Called The Old Man Out". It also made the airplay chart, reaching #49 in the US and #38 in Canada.
Reba McEntire - "If I Had Only Known"
Similar circumstances to Garth's (had a video, made the charts), as well as being included on the 8 Seconds soundtrack. This one always felt like a single to me (though radio may not have played it too much if it were). It's also gone on to become a fan favourite track as well.
Wynonna - "Just Like New"
Another one that I was surprised to find out wasn't a single from her Tell Me Why album. It received a fair bit of airplay here, and so I always thought it was a single.
Rascal Flatts - "Life Is A Highway"
Even though I knew all along it was never released, it has always felt like a single. It reached #18 on the country chart, and #7 on the Hot 100. From the Cars soundtrack, it was later included on their Me And My Gang album, as a bonus track to copies made after the fact, as well as included on their greatest hits album. I always thought that they should have sent it to radio officially.

"Life Is A Highway" was the first song to come to mind. Pretty impressive it reached top 20 on momentum alone, and it's regarded as one of their biggest hits
"My Worst Fear," also by Rascal Flatts, felt like a single to me, probably because the video was played a ton, but it was never released as a single (Shame, too, one of their best songs ever)
" Life In A Northern Town" by Sugarland & LBT
This one was played pretty frequently on the radio, received several big awards show nominations, and received a video, despite not being an official single

It received a lot of airplay. What's really memorable was the fact that "My Wish" was pretty much unaffected by it, as it still was able to spend multiple weeks at #1 in late 2006.

What the hell, I totally thought LIAH was a single. I hear it all the time.
One that came to mind for me "Summer Jam" by Jake Owen and FloGaLine. Hear it frequently on a local station.

WATZ has fooled me into thinking that album cuts were singles several times. Off the top of my head, I know they seemed to play Mark Chesnutt's version of "Beer, Bait, and Ammo" almost as much as Sammy Kershaw's. Also, they played Travis Tritt's "Circus Leaving Town" quite a few times, but I've found no proof that it was ever a single.
I could also swear that WKJC played Alabama's "Katy Brought My Guitar Back Today" a few times back in the mid 90s, because I remember the song sounding familiar when I first listend through the entire Cheap Seats album well after the fact. Similar story with "Five O'Clock 500".
When I first picked up Aaron Tippin's Tool Box, I was almost 100% certain that I'd heard "Ten Pound Hammer" on the radio. I wonder if I was just thinking of the Barbara Mandrell version and it mutated in my head, or if WKJC did play it at some point?
I know that sometime after Time Well Wasted come out, some station in Kansas briefly had "I'll Take You Back" in higher rotation than whatever Brad's current single was at the time. (I think it was either "The World" or "She's Everything".)

Warner Bros. released Faith's Greatest Hits CD at the wrong time.. They left off so many of Faith's best hits- including Take Me As I Am, Let's Go to Vegas, You Can't Lose Me, If My Heart Had Wings, etc., they just compiled a list of a few songs, plus a couple of flops, Lost and Red Umbrella.... Faith's Illusion album should come out in 2014 or 2015, but if it doesn't, we may never see Faith Hill again!!! Just have to keep listening to those old CDs!

I would suggest Faith Hill sign to the Big Machine label like her husband, Tim McGraw. Then we can finally get that duets CD! After all, Hill has been at Warner Bros. since 1993.

Just thought of another one: I could swear that I heard Mark McGuinn's "Done It Right" on the radio a few times, but so far I have yet to find anything proving that it was a single.

Eric Church's "Lightning" got a full-fledged video but was never released as a single. In 2007 I believe. Great video. I remember my Dad thinking that was a single too because he remembered the video for it. "Here's To You" by Rascal Flatts had a video as well (live albeit). I remember it being on CMT's Top 20 Countdown in 2005 (back when CMT actually was somewhat interesting to watch).

RF was pretty quick to say "Cars" was a big part of what took 'em to the next level because of younger fans. Around that time they also had the biggest selling album behind High School Musical, crossover success of "What Hurts The Most, etc. All of this occurred not long after Carrie won Idol and Bless The Broken Road was receiving a huge boost as well.

WATZ's been playing "Write You a Song" by Jon Pardi so much that I almost expect it to chart on Country Breakout entirely from them.

"Live To Love Another Day" by Keith Urban was another song that might have fooled casual fans that it wasn't a single. It reached #48 on Billboard and the mid 50's on R&R in 2006 for unsolicited airplay after "Tonight I Wanna Cry" fell off. It was spun a great deal on XM Radio as well.
Kind of like a "In The Meantime" song til "Once In A Lifetime" was released.

Red Solo Cup, I suppose. Which turned into a single after it took off like crazy, but was never meant that way to start.

Another one I thought of is "Why Not Tonight" by Reba McEntire. It's from her What Am I Gonna Do About You album (1986), and was used as the song played during the credits of Tremors. She still plays it at her concerts, while she has dropped #1 hits from that same time frame.

Tim McGraw - "Things Change"
Wikipedia says stations played both the live and studio version. The studio version later appeared on Set This Circus Down. I believe this was around the time some stations played "Telluride" as well. Neither effected the peaks of Tim's actual singles as he was in the mist of his six consecutive #1 streak.
