The lead single off Mariah's 11th album E=MC².
This became Mariah's 18th #1 hit on the Hot 100 and, as of today, it stands as her last #1 hit there. With this single Mariah broke Elvis Presley's record of being the solo act with the most number one singles on the BB Hot 100 chart. She is the only singer alive likely to break the Beatles' record of 20 #1's.
"Touch My Body" went to #2 on the R&B/Hip-Hop BB charts. It was also a huge, HUGE smash all over the world. The single went platinum and was extremely praised by critics. It was also covered by the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin.
I absolutely love it! It has aged really well for me. It's unapologetically hilarious, bubbly and flirtatious... in other words, totally Mariah. I love its bridge, its melody, and the (mostly) laid-back vocal by Mariah. The video is also one of her best and my second favorite MC video behind "Honey".

I was a bit underwhelmed with this the first time I heard it but it grew on me quickly and I still love it to this day. The video is one of her best and some of the dance remixes are #POW, especially this one:

When this first came out I was appalled but I've grown to love the production and the vocal on this record.
I also like that this first felt like a throwaway Mariah hit but has held up over the years.

I was underwhelmed by this when it came out, and I don't listen to it much anymore. It's catchy, but the production is so monotonous. I feel the same way about "Shake It Off". "I'll Be Lovin U Long Time" is still my favorite single from this album. The two ballad releases were awful. It's a shame, because this album had a handful of songs that had the potential to smash, but they seemed hung up on trying to score another "We Belong Together" and the ballads on this album were weak.

I don't like this one as much as I do her older number ones or "We Belong Together" for that matter but I still really like it. It had to grow on me though.

I adored the song and the video... and E=MC2 became my favorite Mariah Carey album and it still is. I think that the album could have done much much better.

It didn't take me long to get into this. It seemed like a step down from her Emancipation material. I enjoy the remixes with R. Kelly, The-Dream and Rick Ross.

It's a cute track, but I've never loved it. I actually liked "Bye Bye" more (no comments needed from the peanut gallery hehe) The best of the four singles, though, probably was the third.

Love it. It has held up amazingly and despite the silliness of the lyrics, it's actually pretty intricate sonically.

My favorite first single this decade and I started off hating it at first. But the melody is so strong I couldn't resist. The remixes, especially the Seamus Haji dub mix, were FIRE.

I like the melodies in the song, but the production is SO uneventful.

This is my favorite Mariah song, period (even though Mariah has objectively better songs, this is my favorite and by far my most played). I loved it the moment I heard it, and it has only gotten better with age. The production is actually pretty intricate, and I love the lyrics- each one is a stand-out. Also, Mariah's breathy, smooth vocal throughout the track plus her full, healthy belting of the ad-libs toward the end of the song really make it a treat for me every time I listened to it. The video is also one of my favorites -she looked phenomenal.. How I wish she could get that body back.

I went from loving this initially to growing to hate it only to remember that I actually love it. Because there aren't enough videos on this page:

Parts of it are definitely catchy, but overall I never liked it that much. My mom loved this though lol.

This was the first Mariah song I ever heard, highly liked it.It surely isn't the most powerful vocally or lyrically, but its catchyness makes it amazing, its one of my faveds by her today. This and I'll Be Loving U Long Time are my faved off E-MC2, wish the latter of the two was also successful.

I remember the fumes from the Lambily about how uneventful this was. Funny because it retrospect, I believe it was the perfect lead single. Unfortunately, everything kinda went downhill afterward.

I love this, way more now than I did then. Just fun and lighthearted. I can't believe this is her last number one though, she's had better singles since then. I still can't believe how bad they f**ked this era up with single choices.

It's funny how Aretha covered it, Madonna praised it, and even Rachel Ray and Gayle King talked about loving it back then. It's slight, but still a bop. The video is near 175 million views.

This multi-platinum bop that bridged generations (Aretha and Ariana certified!) will hit 200 million views on YouTube in a matter of days:

13 years ago today, Mariah Carey scored her 18th No.1 hit on the Hot 100 chart as "Touch My Body" jumped over Leona Lewis' "Bleeding Love" and started a 2-week run at the top. She has 19 No.1 hits now, more than any other solo artist in history. Only The Beatles with 20 stand above her. "Touch My Body" also peaked at No.2 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and at No.1 on the Hot Dance Club Play chart. "Body" was the first single from her eleventh album "E=MC²."
