I think mine might've also been Shania Twain's The Woman in Me and Faith Hill's Breathe, when I was 9 years old.

I hate to admit it, but I think it was this... I'm not gonna lie, I still enjoy the music. Hard Candy Christmas was a tearjerker with all the girls having to leave the Chicken House. I do like that song and Dolly sang it quite well.

I actually bought this on cassette tape, but it was my first country album. I was pretty young and I remember that my parents were painting the house all weekend, and listening to a new country station that had opened up in the area. This one song kept coming on and really grabbing my attention. I found out that it was "Why Haven't I Heard From You" by Reba McEntire, and from the Read My Mind album. I saved my allowance, went to HMV and bought the cassette tape. It remains my favourite album of all time to this day. Some of Reba's MCA albums from the 90s were classy in look and sound. The photo shoots look gorgeous!!! MCA must have invested alot in her at that time. Great era for Reba then.

Not that anyone here would be surprised but... Shania Twain - Come On Over (on cassette and CD shortly after). I was barely three when that album came out.

As a young kid I was fascinated by Crystal Gayle. I thought she looked like an angel, and I could believe her hair was so long!!! Ha!! Not sure why but I was fascinated by her long hair!!! And I was mesmerized by her voice. So, my first album was her "Ain't Gonna Worry." Being a little kid, I don't understand what she was singing, but to me she was an angel!!! Ha!! Ha!!! I bought this album some years after it was released and I was hooked. The album stands the test of time well. Her version of Garth's "What He's Doing Now" is a tearjerker. "Just an Old Love," "Faithless Love," and "Just like the Blues" gets to the soul.

I always liked country music growing up, but the first album I played to DEATH was Martina McBride's Greatest Hits. My parents saw it in the store, said, "Oh yeah, we saw her 10 years ago back when she was just starting out, and she's had lots of great songs since then!", and so they bought it. Just something about her hooked me in and I fell in love with her voice and everything she sang. So I decided to start buying her other albums! The first one I happened to encounter at a store was Wild Angels. (Isn't it so weird to think of a day when you could walk into a music store and easily find albums that were 7 years old?? I had absolutely no problem hunting down her entire discography in like 2 years, and I found every single one in an everyday store like Wal-Mart or Target. In fact, I had never even considered buying an album online until like 2012.) So anyway, Wild Angels was the first album I ever bought with my own money, and I was not disappointed. What a truly excellent album! Martina did '90s neo-traditional SO well, and this album is a prime example. Today I would probably rank Wild Angels beneath both Evolution and Emotion which came after it, but all those albums are so strong that it is honestly impossible trying to pick a favorite.

Wild Angels was my first Martina album, and fairly close (within my first 20) in my first country albums. I eventually went back and got everything, but I had some trouble finding The Time Has Come. If I remember rightly, my aunt got it for my through one of those record club things (not Columbia House, but a different one). Such a different time for finding music.

For me, it was Garth Brooks' "Double Live". Country music is something completely unheard of in Mexico, so when I found this album at some store, I knew I had to do something about it. I hid it well, and the next day I went back with money and got it. Curious thing is that it costed me like a regular single cd and not a double album <3
And I agree that the version of Callin Baton Rouge is even better than the studio version.
