January 13. And regarding ticket prices, she's playing theater-type venues, so there's only so much they could reasonably charge for tickets. The retail price is ~$34 in New York, which isn't expensive for the venue she's playing but actually more than Sam Hunt is charging. I think they probably went out with some cautiousness - an artist like this is expected to do sellout business, and they couldn't take any risks.

I mean this Christmas EP. I thought the person who posted it meant she had her own Christmas EP, it's an Epic compilation EP coming out next Tuesday.
The $20 she's charging for her DC show is significantly less than most other acts with less mainstream appeal charge at that venue. I paid $40 to see Chromeo there recently.

I really enjoy this girl. She's sort of a breath of fresh air at the moment. Seems to me that she isn't a jaded industry type yet either.

I really enjoy this girl. She's sort of a breath of fresh air at the moment. Seems to me that she isn't a jaded industry type yet either. I think she's a bit more calculated and savvy than you do (and she'd obviously seen the darker, more jaded side of the business from a songwriter's perspective), but I agree overall. What's interesting to me, however, is how despite that "breath of fresh air" persona, crazy talent and the fact that she's new, she doesn't quite have strong support from a lot of the snarky, "hip," fem-pop kind of blogs, websites and critics. Last week, she made an admittedly misguided comment that confused the serious eating disorder anorexia with dieting ("I wasn’t strong enough to have an eating disorder…I tried to go anorexic for a good three hours. I ate ice and celery, but that’s not even anorexic. And I quit. I was like, ‘Ma, can you make me a sandwich? Like, immediately") and got taken to task (indirectly) by Demi Lovato. People really pounced on her -- but not just over the remark itself (which, admittedly, deserves some pouncing). The author of the Idolator article for instance, referred to it as another ignorant comment from Trainor. People concurred. That segment of the press isn't end-all, be-all (it couldn't drive sales for Tinashe, Tove Lo, etc, and it didn't stop Taylor Swift from taking over the world), but it does carry a loud voice in the online world. And it's unclear why that voice isn't being used to more notably endorse Meghan Trainor.

Her sense of humor is just a little crude, so what? I think she's funny. People are too uptight about everything. But then again, I get offended by pretty much nothing.

While I do think the way she dismissed anorexia goes a bit beyond crudeness, it didn't really bother me THAT much (I obviously knew what she meant). And it certainly doesn't make me think she's a horrible person. I brought it up because the reaction people had speaks volumes about her perception within "blogger" communities. People seemed to use this as an opportunity to bash her rather than as an imperative to defend her. They took the glass half-empty approach. I feel like if Lorde said something similar, there'd be more people pointing out that it was "just quirky humor."

It all has to do with public opinion. First she's "skinny shaming" and now they're saying she's attacking anorexia. Honestly, I don't see the big deal with the comment...

That comments was actually made over 2 months ago in an interview with ET and Rocsi Diaz about the "anorexic". The thing about it is that nobody saw AATB doing what it did. I feel like her marketing at 20yrs old is more reminiscent of a country singer than it is a popstar. The clothes, the persona, not to mention now she's not only writing but she's full on producing records. I only see the star getting brighter and brighter.

I'm rooting for her; she comes across as very authentic for a "pop star" and that is what makes her refreshing to me.

I think she's a bit more calculated and savvy than you do (and she'd obviously seen the darker, more jaded side of the business from a songwriter's perspective), but I agree overall. What makes you say that? I agree that she is more calculated and savvy than she first appears, she knows the game, but I'm curious what instances led you to that conclusion. In terms of those comments, I think she'll be just a tad more careful in what she says. The Rolling Stone answer to what book she read was absolutely hilarious; I loved it, and frankly it was a pretty normal answer for a 20 year old. But I suspect she'll learn to answer questions with a bit more tact, she quickly changed up her "feminism" answer to mention that she didn't quite want to speak to something she didn't have a full definition for and that she was for women's quality and power. The feminist blog stuff I don't think matters. I think they're an important voice, but Meghan's appeal is so strong to younger girls that it doesn't matter. She's got the right mixture of edge and sassiness in her lyrics, unguarded personality and social media presence, and commercial production that she doesn't need to appeal to the kind of pop music listeners that read fempop blogs. Those aren't driving her sales.

Christmas EP with Epic coming out and her song is "I'll be Home for Christmas". She sounds absolutely amazing on it vocally! Actually, the title of the EP is "I'll Be Home for Christmas" and features a few other artists on Epic's roster. Her song is called "I'll Be Home" (an original song): She sounds lovely and the tune is quite catchy. Wouldn't mind seeing this top the AC chart this year!

I hope she gets a performance slot on the show now. i think the fact she is nominated for Record and Song would almost guarantee a performance . it would be a bit over 3 weeks after the album release which would be good promo.

It's also in a break between the Jingle Ball dates & her own tour starting.

She's very likeable and that HP commercial really made her song "Lips are moving" grow on me.

Damn, the girl has talent, AATB kinda grow on me despite being a bit annoying at first, Lips Are Movin' is basically AATB in steroid, which is great, but I'm worried about how the two sound very similar, I hope she wouldn't get the backlash of that.
In another note, I wish some people (Not here, Pulse is kind of a nice place so far to me) would stop butchering AATB lyrics just to make Meghan looks bad, someone should burn the media with fire.

Not sure if it has been said yet (too lazy to check ): But she did a song with Jason Derulo that will be on the album. She described it as a dance song. Judging on the titles, "Bang Dem Sticks" seems like it could be it.
