I'm very curious to hear this one. I've generally liked most of Trisha's material but I confess that I am not a huge fan, simply because when Trisha was really prominent in the 90's, I was less than 10 years old I am familiar with her big hits and anxious to hear this one. But even in the 90's she'd occasionally miss the top 10 or even the top 20, and her last top 10 hit was "I Would've Loved You Anyway" (a #4) way back in 2001. Since then she's had singles peaking at #31, #47, #15, #52, #19, #25, and #54. The two top 20 hits were of course 2005's "Georgia Rain" (#15) and 2007's "Heaven, Heartache, and the Power of Love" (#19). Now obviously she's been on hiatus for the bulk of the time since early 2002, with just the 2 albums since then, so I don't know how radio will react to this. I know Kelly Clarkson isn't a county artist but she's a big name that could help build some buzz. Still, I have to wonder...can Trisha even get back to the top 20 again, even with RCA's support? I hope so, but I'll have to hear the song to make any guesses. For now though I guess I just don't expect her to come back and storm up the charts, scoring a bunch of top 20's and whatnot. I can see Garth doing that because, well, he's Garth...but with Trisha I'm not as optimistic

So is this confirmed to be a duet? Some of the tweets made it sound like Kelly was on the track but never called it a duet. So I was thinking it might be something where she is providing backing/harmonizing similar to what Vince Gill did for Kelly on Don't Rush. However, if it more of a bonafide duet then I am really excited because I love both Trisha and Kelly!

I've been thinking along the same lines as you about it not being a full blown duet just from the way the few tweets have been worded. Either way, the ones that have heard the song say it sounds great so I'm looking forward to this one.

Oh, I doubt it's a full-blown duet either. I'm expecting something more along the lines Blake's "My Eyes", where Gwen Sebastian only did harmonies, or Tim's "Meanwhile Back At Mama's", where Faith really only does harmonies. I imagine it will be "Trisha featuring Kelly", or at least that's what the tweets seem to be implying. But if they want to toss Kelly a couple of lines that would be completely fine by me!

It should probably be changed to "feat." instead of "duet." This station played it once yesterday and was asked if Kelly is doing harmony or if it's a duet and if they could post it. 92.5 WBEE @925wbee @o5coryo5 harmony. We don't have permission to post it yet.

Officially credited as a feature (Trisha Yearwood - PrizeFighter f/Kelly Clarkson) on Mediabase/AllAccess. No audio yet, though.

Since a station has played it, I'm surprised the tune hasn't surfaced. I want it to leak or be released already. I'm glad to hear that Kelly sings on the track as well. No surprise that it's not a full on duet as they would not make sense as a comeback song for Trisha.

Adding Kelly as a feature is brilliant, imo. From what I vaguely remember of Trisha, I thought she was a little boring, but I'm eager to hear this one. Having Kelly on the song catches my attention, for sure.

Generic cover art, but gets the point across.

Anyone expecting this to go digital. Given that she's married to Garth and owns her own music now, I suspect she will NOT be releasing this to iTunes or any other places until the album is out.

I can't wait to hear this. I think it's a smart choice bringing Kelly on board for name recognition alone (plus it also doesn't hurt that they both have killer voices).
Edit: We'll be able to hear this on Thursday, according to an ad in tonight's BCU.

Not sure what I think yet on this one. To me it sounds like Trisha is trying to be more current & modern than she needs to be. It almost sounds like a song Katy Perry would do (if it were more poppy) and could be perfect for Kelly Clarkson, for one of her records. However, to me it doesn't really fit Trisha's style or voice, but that's me. I prefer the "On A Bus To St. Cloud" type of Trisha :) Kinda wish she had a stronger first single, just sayin'

Eh, the theme's been done better and I feel like the texture in Trisha's voice is diminished in the verses. She sounds more like her self in the chorus and Kelly's harmony sounds great but upon initial listen, it's definitely not one of my favorite Trisha songs. I still like it and even average Trisha material is better than most but I'm not quite as blown away up front as I had hoped to be.

I need to listen a few more times, but initial impression is underwhelming. The vocal is nice but lacks energy, and even the cover art is weird to me. With a song title like Prize Fighter, you expect something with impact (no pun intended) but this is just a pleasant, pretty unremarkable listen and not very memorable. I think it was a mistake not to put Trisha's picture on the artwork, too. The boxing gloves don't match the intensity of the vocal at all for me (plus it's just unattractive). The image raises expectations this will have a punch, but it just doesn't have one. Really incongruous to me.
I watch Trisha's cooking show sometimes, and this vocal reminds me of the show. Pleasant but bordering on boring.

Giving it a first listen now and I agree with mylifeback's "pleasant but bordering on boring" assessment. I could see it crossing to AC radio if given the chance, though, and working for promo commercials for TLC programming or something, haha.

I think the song itself is pretty clichè, but it's a welcome clichè if it means breaking apart what's currently on Country radio. That means that radio would have to spin a woman, though! *gasp* And, it's a song with ANOTHER woman on it! *double gasp*
As for Ms. Yearwood, she still sounds as phenomenal as ever and I love hearing her voice on record again. Kelly Clarkson sounds GREAT on this, too. Glad to hear that her pregnancy hasn't taken much of a toll on her voice because that was the one thing I was really nervous about with her. Their voices mesh together so well.

On first listen, I love it. I was expecting a more uptempo song, but this is great. It's modern without trying to chase trends, has strong lyrics and even stronger vocals. Trisha may actual have a shot at radio (and Kelly's excellent backing vocals don't hurt, either).

Love this so far, sure it's not a standout masterpiece but they both sound great together and the melody sounds very early 2000's. I'm not sure if it'll do anything on radio but I'll be rooting for this to do big things.

Not a big fan of this. I love each vocalists, but on this specific piece their voices just don't seem to fit appropriately. I would love to hear the track with just Trisha or just Kelly.
