This is slowly growing on me, but I have to say that I'm not all that impressed with this yet. I'm finding it kind of boring, and not really holding my attention. Lyrically it's nice, but I can't remember the melody literally minutes after I've heard it.

The guitar riffs and the steel guitar stick with me for hours after I've heard this, lol.

Can we agree that this song had a good second week? 32 adds (second behind Garth, obviously) and up 9 spots with a 2.6 million increase in audience.

It had a great third week too - moving 43-31* and pulling in 48 adds to be the most added.
I still don't love it, but it looks like Brad's having a bit of a resurgence at country radio this time around.

After his underwhelming Wheelhouse era, I was very concerned about his future. I'm so glad this is performing well. This album could be very successful for him single-wise.

I'm really enjoying this tune, it's been a big grower on me. However, I have to admit that it is awfully similar to "She's Everything". The lyrics are very similar and even the chorus reminds me of it. That being said, "She's Everything" is one of my favorite Brad songs, so it's not necessarily a bad thing that they sound so similar.

"She's Everything" loses me because the melody is so monotonous. Same reason I couldn't fully get into "Waitin' on a Woman" despite the latter's amazing lyrics.
This one has a very good melody. The production is also less cluttered than Brad's past few singles, and outside the wall of "Whoa oh oh's" (he's really developed an affinity for those hasn't he?) the overall style sounds more like Mud on the Tires-era Brad to me.

I wish Brad Paisley would go back to Mud On The Tires for inspiration. He's been missing that lately.

I sense the video will be something like Garth's "The Thunder Rolls", except "Perfect Storm" is a love song. It'll be interesting to see how this will play out. "Perfect Storm" is definitely one of Brad's best singles.

I hope this song doesn't follow similar fate to "I Can't Change the World"...a quick climb early on but then levels off in the low 20s and cannot gain steam from there. I really like this one.

It won't. It's only 6 weeks old and has already eclipsed the top 20 on both MB and Billboard. It will slow down once it hits this part of the chart but remember, even "River Bank" had a few shaky weeks in it's run. Arista is fully invested in this single and the video is coming out soon. I expect "Perfect Storm" to be a sizable hit for Brad.

I have to say, I'm quite pleased by this songs fats chart run so far as it's one of my favorites right now. I always thought i would be a hit, but never expected it to be moving as insanely fast as it has been.

I don't think this song will have that much trouble getting into the top 5 (I actually expect it to break Brad's drought of #1 songs on the Billboard chart). "Perfect Storm" definitely had a slow week this week, but it saw really big gains in its first 5 chart weeks--bigger gains than I expected, and much bigger gains than most recent Brad singles have had right out of the gate. In comparison, "River Bank" was at #19 on Billboard after its 5th chart week with just over 16 million, so "Perfect Storm" is hardly off the pace of that one. In fact, up until this week, PS may have been out-pacing RB by a bit (and of course "River Bank" was a lead single, too). "I Can't Change The World", on the other hand, was at #30 after its 6th chart week, with 9 million in audience.
I suspect Brad's lower gain this week was partially as a result of Arista Nashville allocating spins to the debut of Carrie's "Something In The Water". They've also been fervently working The Swon Brothers' "Later On" into higher rotation in hopes that it can eventually crack the top 10 (although I still think they're wasting their time there--the Swons' top 10 potential looks very minimal to me).
Furthermore, I also think Brad lost out on some airplay to the new songs from Tim and Kenny which both had pretty big weeks.

Without a link. :) This is one of those songs for me that grows on me a little more each time I hear it. It also sounds great on the radio driving down the road on a cool fall afternoon.

Underwhelming video. The concept was kind of interesting (though not exactly unique), but the execution was pretty poor. Altogether it just felt pretty cheap and the graphics of the pictures flying past were not the greatest, to say the least. I also felt this strange disconnect between Brad's performance in the background and the pictures going past; it had a lyric video feel more so than that of an actual music video. That said, I echo sabre14's sentiments on the song. This continues to grow and grow on me a lot and I just love it. Definitely one of Brad's strongest single releases in quite some time and I too hope jhomes87's prediction that this ends his Billboard #1 drought comes true. I really like the kind of 'moodier' vibe on this and "Shotgun Rider" for country radio right now.

I was shocked when I saw the MB update this morning...up 785 spins from last week. That's a huge increase, considering how fast the song was moving in the first place. Obviously won't catch Tim, but should be top 5 by Sunday night, right?

In order to get top 5 by Sunday night (presumably on Mediabase), Brad would have to pass both Big & Rich (quite possible since Brad has been gaining more than double the number of spins B & R have been gaining this week and is fewer than 300 spins behind them) and pass the falling "Sunshine & Whiskey," which is still a thousand spins ahead of "Perfect Storm," so I'm imagining he'll check in at #6 or #7 this week.

This one saw only moderate gains this week, with Kenny coming up hot.
Interestingly enough, this jumped Shotgun Rider on the Indicator chart (still behind in audience, though).
My best guess would be that Tim gets a #1 next week, and the following week will be a photo finish between Brad and Kenny. Whichever one of them gets it the week after Tim will succumb the following week to the loser of the first week.

Now just add in George, Alan, and Reba and all will be right with the Country world again.

This just keeps growing on me. It's probably my favorite Brad single since "Anything Like Me" in 2010.
It's looking like Brad will take the #1 spot after "Shotgun Rider" and after that, Moonshine In The Trunk has some great single choices. "Crushin' It", "Moonshine In The Trunk", and "Country Nation" are the three album tracks over one million streams on Spotify and the other tracks aren't even close. I'm thinking Brad goes with "Crushin' It" for the third single and "Country Nation" fourth so it peaks around college football season.

I'm still expecting a release of "High Life" simply because it's a musical event and Arista may want to have radio playing something with Carrie Underwood on it while she's away for what I think will be close to another year.

Well Tim is already dropping pretty significantly, so it looks like Brad might be able to get the #1 next week, and then ride it out until after freeze? I always though that Shotgun Rider was going to get at least 2 weeks at #1 seeing how quickly it rised, but that doesn't appear to be the case.

I always though that Shotgun Rider was going to get at least 2 weeks at #1 seeing how quickly it rised, but that doesn't appear to be the case. I wouldn't say that Tim is dropping pretty significantly. But his loss was big enough today that Brad is indeed on pace to overtake him for the Billboard #1 next week. Still, that's after only 1 day. If Tim can manage to level off a bit (in other words, to avoid plummeting), he could make it tough for Brad to catch him. I suspect that we'll see less "adjusting" of playlists this weekend as we get closer to Christmas, so in the event of a close battle (with Tim falling and Brad rising), it might be a bit tougher for Arista Nashville to get "Perfect Storm" to #1 by Monday. We'll have to wait and see, though. Tim finished a full 3.1 million ahead on last night's Billboard chart, and on today's MB update there was a swing of 632k between them (-340k for Tim, +292k for Brad). If the swing stays around 600k per day for the next 6 days, that would amount to a swing of +4.2 million for the 7-day Billboard week, which would be more than enough to move Brad ahead. But of course that's using MB data, not BB data. A 4.2 million swing on MB would be closer to 3.4 or 3.5 mil when translated to BB. So if Tim can avoid plummeting and instead only lose 250k a day, he could certainly make it more interesting and perhaps even hang on to the #1 spot. And I know today was a little more than -250k a day for Tim, and typically songs fall harder later in the week, but this week could be different--it'll all depend on how hard Big Machine fights to stay on top. It definitely seems that both labels want to be #1 for essentially the rest of December. Big Machine has "#1 and holding" ads out in both BB and MB, but Arista also put up a "Power Up Now! #1 Bound" ad for "Perfect Storm" in the BCU (maybe that suggests a scenario wherein Tim gets 2 weeks at #1 on MB/1 week at #1 on BB, leaving Brad to get 3 weeks at #1 on BB?) Then there's the CC-USA co-hosting schedule...Tim was on this past weekend and returns at the end of the month to help Lon count down the top 10 songs of the year, whereas Brad isn't scheduled to co-host until January 3/4. Right now though, I'll give Brad a 70% chance to top BB next Monday, and I'll give Tim just a 30% chance of hanging on. Wednesday morning might shake things up, or perhaps it will be a clearer signal that Brad is likely to take over the top spot.. In any case, Brad's timing looks to be better than Tim's. If Brad makes it to #1 on Monday, I think he'll have a great chance to score a 3-week Billboard #1, with "Perfect Storm" remaining at #1 on Monday, December 29 and on Monday, January 5 (and likely followed by Kenny, Carrie, and Eric, in that order).

I would love for Brad to get three weeks at #1 @ Billboard with this standout single; he's never wound up with the year's #1 single AFAIK, with 'The World' winding up #2 for the year at Billboard in 2006 being the best year-end finish for any of his previous hits.
I know that this tune won't achieve that, but it's still among his best singles ever IMHO.

Even if airplay is subject to fewer adjustments than usual this coming week, it's hard to believe that Tim will be able to hold the losses to about 300k a day. I expect him to lose 600k to 1 mill, maybe averaging 800k, for the rest of the week. Of course I'm not always right about that stuff, but I think if Brad can keep gaining at least 300k and manages to have a day or two of bigger gains, he's going to pass Tim.
At least on one of the charts he will. I think it's likely he can get both #1's, but the worst case scenario in my mind is not Brad falling short of overtaking Tim on both charts -- it's Brad getting #1 on MB and barely missing out on BB. That would be frustrating. I have to hope that Brad and the label are aware he's missed #1 on BB and made it on MB a few times.

Look I know I've been made fun of on more than a couple of occasions for following the MB charts so closely (and I respect your posts Zazie) but I'm hard pressed to think that Brad and Arista are fearing missing out on Billboard (which they won't) and would rather not settle for a MB #1 here (which again, they won't have to). I'm sure that the label and Brad recognize "Welcome To The Future", "American Saturday Night", "Southern Comfort Zone" and "Beat This Summer" as #1's. Granted, the "Southern Comfort Zone" one was pretty iffy in the manipulation department but I digress. I agree with jhomes87 that we need to see how the rest of the week shakes out to determine whether Brad can catch Tim. But the label will gladly take a MB #1 along with a Billboard #1 and I think Brad can rest easy since his timing is looking spot on here for multiple weeks. I don't think "Perfect Storm" is going to be any sort of long lasting recurrent because of being a Billboard #1 rather than just the MB only variety in this case. All this to me is a moot point anyway since I believe "Perfect Storm" will hit #1 on both charts.
