Thought this might be a fun idea to promote discussion, learn about new music, get a sense of each other's taste, etc. Hopefully, the thread title is self-explanatory. Basically, please post your honest opinion or initial impression of the last poster's song, and then post your own. You can give it a numerical rating, but you don't have to. You can write as little or as much as you want. Please just post a link to where the song can be heard instead of embedding the video directly. A thread like this where every post can have an embedded video can very easily be problematic for people with slow computers/Internet connections. Starting off: Sara Evans - Suds in the Bucket

^ Sara Evans - "Suds In The Bucket" (one of 2004's best singles. Just a perfect blend of country instrumentation with upbeat, modern production. Easily one of my favorite songs) :) Next Up:James Otto - Days Of Our Lives

^ James Otto - Days of our Lives : First time hearing this song, but I liked. Had a nice story and message behind it. James was never my favorite singer, but he's by no means irritating. My choice: John Anderson - Seminole Wind www.youtube.com/watch?v=KGoBQIhyFFM

Great vocals. Not just the power or beauty, but the inflection and great touch to convey Patty's emotion throughout the song. Also a classic sound that's lost on today's radio with a catchy melody. Next: Sugarland - Small Town Jericho

^ I've never been a big fan of Sugarland, except for a few singles. That was actually pretty good though, it kept Jennifer Nettle's voice in check (I can't stand her voice for the most part). But the song had a nice feel to it, maybe if they would have released more songs like that as singles I would be a bigger fan of theirs lol Next: I Can't Forget Her - Dierks Bentley www.youtube.com/watch?v=9EEC3aYBX3M

Great song! One of my favorites off Feel That Fire. Why, oh why, did they release the wretched "I Wanna Make You Close Your Eyes". Bad song, creepy title. This song on the other hand has great instrumentation, good lyrics and Dierks knocks it out of the park. I'm going to go obscure, though this song did make the Country Airplay charts for a few weeks. Between Sundays - DJ Miller www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qpob4ha9b3M

^ I remember this one charting! I liked it and I was sure he'd get signed to a major label. The song wasn't anything majorly impressive but it was radio friendly and nice enough. If this had been released in the early 2000's I think it could've been a big hit. I'm going even more obscure with Ragsdale a brother and sister duo who released one single while signed to Lyric Street that didn't chart. Love this song! "I'm Glad It Was You"

Too bad they couldn't catch on at radio though to be honest I wasn't totally surprised. Great pick. :) Next up: Craig Morgan - The Ballad Of Mr. Jenkins

Good song, I had never heard before. Craig can really tell a story, when he's not shreiking. Reminds me a bit of This Aint Nothin'. Also enjoyed God Must Really Love Me. Up next: Toby Keith - Your Smile (from Honkeytonk U) www.youtube.com/watch?v=tXxMJhnViWc

^ First time hearing this song, but going in I was excited because I like most of Toby's stuff. The song is pretty solid, Toby doesn't try to overdue it, and it actually sounds country! lol I miss songs like these from Toby. His voice sounds really good on this. Classic Ronnie song. The second it comes on, you know exactly what song it is. Clever song too with a different spin on a subject that has been done before. And of course the vocals were flawless. Next Up: Dean Brody - Bounty

^ Had a hart time finding a good video for this song. I wasn't too big on this song, nothing really stood out to me. I can appreciate how Organic it sounded and I liked that it embodied the whole Outlaw image. Definitely makes you want to have some whiskey or smoke some cigs while listening to it lol (and I don't even smoke). Next: Church Pew Or Bar Stool - Jason Aldean www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZR6E0gHPJj8

Good song, Jason does a nice job singing (though, IMO, this doesn't have the same depth of delivery in my opinion as The Truth, Laughed Until We Cried or Fly Over States). Interesting perspective about being in one of two camps in smalltown America (i.e., at church or in the bars, but not both). This is slightly different from what I thought the theme was originally - ala Drugs or Jesus (Tim McGraw). Next; 1000 Faces - Randy Montana www.youtube.com/watch?v=o37O-xMgbI8

^ Another song that I'm listening to for the first time. This is a really nice song from Kenny, has a nice simple instrumentation, and I like the "Do do do's". Amazing that this album really only had one big hit on it (Come Over). Listening to Kenny's songs like this one is getting me excited for his new album. (I had typed this is response to sabre14's post before recjus85 posted, and I don't want to lose it).^Sweet song, I enjoyed it. The theme (being in the city and wanting to go back home to the country) has been done a lot, but there's nothing wrong with doing something tried and true well. I really enjoyed the lead singer's voice, and the harmony vocals were great, especially during the chorus. Other than "Elvira", my knowledge of the Oak Ridge Boys is almost nonexistent; I'll have to change that. @recjus85: Very solid song. Jimmy Wayne's debut album was really strong. Style and production-wise, it's not typically the type of thing I listen to a lot nowadays, but listening to that song for the first time in a while, I found myself enjoying it a lot. Good song; I love the music from this era. I wish there were more story songs in country music these days. The background voices add a nice touch, reminiscent of "He Stopped Loving Her Today." Next: The Bellamy Brothers - I'll Help You Hurt Him
