:'( that this is already a nostalgia tune. This is tied with "The One That Got Away" as my favorite from the Teenage Dream era. I love the video, and just like for Celine's "It's All Coming Back To Me Now" I want to go exactly where she filmed it. Maybe next year.

This is one of the few songs from her I can still tolerate. Cheesy message, but overall a fantastic anthem.

One of my favorites from Katy. It was played on AT40 as an optional over 4th of July weekend.

One of my least favorites from that era tbh, along with "California Gurls", but I still really like it anyways!!!

I'll go with the unpopular opinion and say that it's my favorite Katy song, along with E.T.
Wish it still got some plays on my local stations

I can appreciate the song for what it is and anthems like this have their place. I just wish the production was more organic and it was performed by someone with the vocal chops to pull it off.
On that note, her AMA performance of this is one of my fav bad performances, lol. Her wailing like a dying sea hag behind that children's choir absolutely kills me.

I like it but I never understood how it became so huge. I thought the other singles from this album were so much better (although I did like this more than "The One That Got Away").

Yup, I agree - cheesy but it is such a great anthem. The line "Do you ever feel like a plastic bag?" is so iconic. And the video is great, the part with the son defending his mom against the abusive dad is very touching and empowering.
And the chorus is everything, and the last line "Boom boom boom, even brighter than the moon moon moon" is great.

I didn't like this when it was first released and it actually took 2 years for me to appreciate it. But then I started to love it. i know many find the song cheesy and stuff, but the song actually has a really nice message. I wish someone else sang this though. Someone who actually has the vocal chops to pull it off.

I remember being surprised when then was announced as a single over "Peacock" and "Last Friday Night". I didn't think it felt like a hit single. Clearly I was wrong, but as soon as I heard it on the radio I finally "got" it and I went through I phase where I loved it. It's probably been about two years since I listened to it last, though. Baby you're a fart of poo. I really like this song. Clever.

I wasn't against this as a single, but I never heard this as a massive hit. I was very surprised when it became what it did. I still find this overrated, but it's probably the most important song in her catalog career wise. This is where she became a a real megastar.
The funny thing is that I clearly remember her doing rounds on big shows performing this and pretty much bombing, and yet both the songs popularity and hers just snowballed without stopping. I guess it's one of those songs that just clicked hard.

I get why it was such a big hit, but it's one of my least favorite singles from Katy. I never felt the urge to play it on repeat, and I think it's because I found the chorus so underwhelming.

Besides the title track, I think this one stands out among all the "Teenage Dream" singles.

I will always love this song because Firework is the song that made me a Katy stan. The music video is easily one of the best she has done. Even though this hasn't aged that well for me, it will always be one of my top Katy songs

My least favorite single of that era. I still like it a lot but it's nowhere near as good as the title track (my favorite Katy song).

I loved this for like two weeks right around Christmas that year, lol. It's just fine now, probably my least favorite from Teenage Dream along with "Part of Me".

I thought it was super corny when it first came out, but as time has gone on I've started enjoying it.

It hasn’t held up the best; however it’s one of her better singles with the exception of the plastic bag line.

I'll always low-key be appreciative of this if only for the fact it inspired this ICONIC cover:
