Got a bit rougher on the edges since their past effort. The minimalistic sound may a bit too EDM on "Queen", especially; but works fine with the retro and 70s glam feel. Mike Hadreas voice is still transcending and unique. Soothing and comforting and then again edgy and cutting. Brilliant! Experimental, haunting, daring; a piece of work of its own. One of the best Indie out there. "Put Your Back N 2 It" was literally a master-piece. This certainly has to grow on me, though.

I'm more invested in this initially than either of his previous 2 albums. They had their highlights but I found myself getting bored 7-8 songs in. With Too Bright, the combination of harder/glammed-up songs (Queen, Fool, Grid, My Body, Longpig) against the softer/piano-based songs (I Decline, Don't Let Them In, Too Bright) is perfect to me. I love that so many of these songs surprise and switch directions midway through. The video for "Grid" is fantastic but the "Queen" video is a masterpiece.

I agree with you. "Put Your Back N 2 It" was less diverse than this new offering; maybe in the end that is its core charm, if you like melancholy piano ballads with a cool atmosphere yet full of poesy and passion. The new videos are really visually demanding and not everybody's cup of tea but quite elevate themselves from the mainstream crap on today. Will certainly not be screened (if ever) during day time. I think they are very good and may be shown in years to come at some posh down-town exhibition or gallery opening. Will have a proper review once I bought the CD and had a closer listen. Cheers

This ended up in my top 5 albums of 2014. It is a masterpiece. The final 3 tracks, I'm a Mother, All Along and Too Bright are the absolute highlight of this. Particularly I'm a Mother! I hope next album is this great.
