This sounds really good based off that preview. It sounds like it could be my favorite song from him yet. I really enjoyed his debut album, too, although it's been quite a while since I listened to it. I definitely loved "Crying On A Suitcase", "Drive", and "Love The Way You Miss Me", among others. "Fall Apart" sounds like a well-written song and it sounds really catchy, too. Based off that preview, it seems to be a break-up type of song. Thank goodness it's not bro-country!

How have his singles done in the country chart? Or in billboard? I have Let's don't call it a night in my iPhone and I like it. I may check more of his work.

Doubt you will hear any "Bro" from Casey. I am loving this single but he is not someone you want to miss live. Listen to this version of the single: The sound isn't the best , but theres a lot more grit and emphasis on the lyric etc.... www.youtube.com/watch?v=vPAE0qRLjh0

"Let's Don't Call It A Night" peaked at #21 on Billboard Country Airplay, "Crying On A Suitcase" at #14, and "The Good Life" at #57 (the label decided to pull "The Good Life" after it got off to such a slow start).

I'm liking this one, it feels like something that could do good and Casey seems to have a good connection with this type of material. I'm very happy it's a good song as I loved his debut and was hoping for something strong. Also while I never understood why he was considered "hot" while he was on Idol I completley get it after meeting him at CMA Fest in 2012; and on this single cover he looks amazing.

Sure hope this does well for him, he is very talented and very underrated. I have loved him both times I saw him live.

This is pleasant enough, 'though the opening is rather sleepy and the hyped-up finish strikes me as a reach for his personality and vocals.
I don't understand the logo, red and black text with upside down letters?

Wow, I really like this. Very emotive delivery, kinda shocked he didn't write it.

Love the song! I might be biased because I have always been a fan of Josh and Zach Carter (Kingston) and their writing. I have been following their career for a while now and I am thrilled a song that they had a hand in writing will be played on radio(hopefully). Anyway, Casey does a great job with the song and I am still really glad he went the country route after Idol. :) I posted some Kingston's work on the Discovery Thread if anyone is interested. pulsemusic.proboards.com/post/4931971

I like this quite a bit, though I preferred "Crying on a Suitcase." Hopefully this does about as well as his first two singles did, but there's a lot of competition out there right now, so it'll likely be in for a long, slow climb. This doesn't seem like a smash hit to me upon first listen, but I get a Brett Eldredge feel from it and he's been doing pretty well this past year, so maybe this can catch on similarly.

I copied this jhomes87 quote from the Chase Bryant thread so as to not distract from the topic there. I have wondered about the next OTV artist as well. Casey should he considered. He's had a lot of buzz since his song hit Sirius. It got up to #37 on iTunes with no promo and there have been quite a few articles written about the song in the past week. This song deserves consideration. Sony is apparently supposed to he doing an all out push for him so I hope OTV is within the view of their scope!!! My vote is for Casey but Mickey Guyton is a good choice. I'm a big fan of Josh Abbott Band but am disappointed with their single. Their Kacey Musgraves collab was beyond comparison. Can't get past it.

Since everyone else is making predictions about the next OTV artist, I will too. If I had to bet, I think Casey James or the Josh Abott Band will be the selection. They seem to have a lot of potential and their new singles are coming out at a good point for the program to work for them. However, I certainly wouldn't mind seeing Dan + Shay or The Cadillac Three get the choice. I think both offer some of the more "Fresh" sounding songs on the chart right now, and by fresh I mean they seem more distinct. Dan + Shay might be too big already, but I feel they're really talented and deserve it (Although many other artists are certainly talented and deserve it as well).

After some thought, how could Casey be the next OTV artist without an adds date??? Cart. Turn around. Meet horse. Dang it! Maybe next month???
Not sure how this program works but It's been way to too long between eras and he could really use this push on his sophomore effort. Make it or break it time for him right now!!!

I don't know exactly when they'll roll out the next OTV artist, but I don't think not having an adds date will affect Casey's chances. If by chance Casey happens to be who they decide to go with, "Fall Apart" will probably get released (to radio) and then they would just announce the adds date at the same time the OTV promotion starts (hypothetically-speaking, of course).

OTV is something Casey could really benefit from right now. In my admittedly, unable to be objective viewpoint, this song should be in consideration. He's worked for 14 years to get where he is and his status with Sony could be hinging on the success of "Fall Apart". Here's to hoping they can put the promo behind the song to get him to the next level. Dang. Fingers crossed.

I'm also really enjoying this one. The arrangement and melody of the chorus is infectious for me and that's probably the reason I like it. Never thought he has a great voice but he does sing songs that play to his strengths.
As for chart wise; I gotta be honest and say I could easily see this going either way. I wouldn't be surprised to see this become at least a top 20 hit and get his sophomore album out there. On the other hand, I do believe that releasing a softer style lead single could make it a slow climber, which would likely happen anyway, but particularly a slow climb. Obviously if Columbia can get iHeartmedia to make this an OTV selection then all this is basically a moot point, but I'm at least skeptical about it's long term chances. I'm sure Columbia has set Casey up for a good chance to succeed here with being off for so long, so hopefully this one hits for him.

Casey's team is working with Taste of Country for fans to get the opportunity to win a trip to Nashville to watch Casey James Shoot his ‘Fall Apart’ music video. Looks like they plan to shoot the second week of November but could reschedule if there is bad weather. I hope he does more than just sing in the video. He had the male "role" in the "Crying on a Suitcase" video and I think that helped its success. Anyone have any thoughts on how having a music video for a newer artist like Casey would effect the songs chart success? One would think it could increase the audience feedback scores and maybe sales?? I'm just really happy they are jumping on the video right away instead of waiting to see if it does anything at radio.
As far as OTV goes, I just really do not have the faith that Colombia can pull it off. However, I am encouraged that the video is going to happen right away. I'm hoping they are all in with Casey! Label mates Tyler Farr and Chase Rice both released songs in November last year and they went on to be hits. Then there is the ad in Aircheck last night introducing Steven Lee Olsen who is going for adds 12/1. Between Steven, Casey Tyler and Chase, Colombia really has its hands full with 4 artists who will be dropping singles in the near future. I hope Colombia has what it takes to push all of these songs!

As far as OTV goes, I just really do not have the faith that Colombia can pull it off. The labels don't get to choose these things. That would be bought and paid for airplay which is illegal (although the way I see it--and there have been some reports to back this up--payola is still alive and well, just not in the form of actual cash; instead, the artists play dozens of free shows for radio station events and radio "pays them back" by giving them airplay...so sometimes, especially with newer artists, it's about who can kiss up to radio the most). On The Verge as well as the Artist Integration Program are strictly organizational decisions from within Clear Channel. I am sure that they ask all the labels to submit songs, but from there it is up to the bean-counters and the program directors at CC/iHeart stations. According to the Washington Post, the big wigs at Clear Channel sift through a ton of songs and narrow it down to 5 or 6 songs. Then the PD's vote from those choices and once a song is selected, all CC stations are required to spin it at least 150 times over a period of about 6 weeks. So this isn't up to Columbia. They definitely still have to work hard to get exposure for Casey's music but that's the way it is for all labels and all artists.

Anyone here have access to the Add Board? Wondering what station added Casey James "Fall Apart". Just got the Country Aircheck adds email and was shocked to see an add for this since the add date isn't even announced yet. Just really curious to see what station did it.

The Add Board can only be accessed through AllAccess now. We should be able to see it tomorrow beginning at 3 PM (I'm assuming eastern time) and that should tell us what station added "Fall Apart". My guess is that an adds date will be revealed very soon.

According to Windmills Country (on Twitter) "Fall Apart" goes for adds on 2/23 Finally! I'm excited to see where radio takes this. I'm hoping for top 10 but being realistic I think top 20 is going to be where it tops out. There's never been a huge buzz for Casey and I admit I didn't really get him on Idol but once his first single & album came out I started loving him. Hope Columbia is fully behind this one!

Sooooo excited! Finally!!! I've got all my fingers and toes crossed for this song!!!!
From what I've seen from those close to his camp Sony is supposedly fully on board and behind him. Looking to see that this spring. He's got some great material so I hope to see 2-3 singles with this new era!
Also cool to see this add date aligns with CRS. He should be performing at the Sony Boat Show and hopefully more!
Stoked!

Columbia has pushed the impact date back to March 30th.
Or perhaps February 23rd was just the delivery date.

Windmills tweeted me this ad three weeks ago she said she got in the weekly Mediabase chart posting. And they ran it more than once, and on the front page. It says "impacting". To me that means the add date. There must be some reason for delaying this. Now, I am the furthest thing from a chart expert compared to all of you on here, but I can only come up with one possible reason why they delayed this. Chase Rice's song went for adds back in November and is FINALLY charting. Maybe they want some space between Chase and Casey on the charts and promo wise?? Attachment Deleted

My best guess is there's too many "new" male artist on Sony's labels all trying to climb at the same time and they want to try salvaging one of the ones already out to radio.
They have Steven Lee Olsen's "Raised By A Good Time" Logan Mize's "Can't Get Away From a Good Time" Josh Dorr's "Save Your Breath" Chase Rice's "Gonna Wanna Tonight" The Swon Brothers' "Pray For You"
add Casey to the list and thats way too many for radio to decide between even though they're technically on separate labels.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Sony see which of the first 5 stick over the next month then try to push Casey.
Add the other labels competition and there's just a ton of new guys vying for radio's attention.
Michael Ray's "Kiss You In The Morning" Jackie Lee's "She Does" David Fanning's "Doin' Country Right" Mo Pitney's "Country" Dylan Scott's "Lay It On Me" Craig Wayne Boyd's "My Baby's Got A Smile On Her Face" Austin Webb's "All Country On You"
I think them pushing it back a month will let some of these flop out of the way and he'll have a clearer path. Of course there's the chance that other males sitting on labels will announce singles soon but Casey will be the first in the timeframe to be announced which probably has a minor advantage.
(Possible threats if they announce: Ryan Kinder, Charlie Worsham, Dean Alexander, Joey Hyde, Levi Hummon, Drake White, Seth Alley, John King, Chase Bryant, Jordan Ranger, James Wesley)
My Point is there's a ton of competition and I'm not even counting big name artists or any females (mostly cause I doubt any are real threats unfortunately). I think this is a smart move and while I've been waiting for a while for this to be sent out I'd rather it go once there's a clearing and it can get a ton of attention.
P.S. I realize I rambled in this post but I have a head cold and my medicine is kicking in lol

Maybe Columbia wants to do some early promo and gather some extra "pre-release" hype around the single so it can get a lot of adds right out of the gate and have a fast start on the charts (like Warner Brothers does for a lot of their artists). The Highway has been playing this song and it's already been streamed over a million times on Spotify. Although the March 30 adds date seems strangely late, I fully expect this to be a big hit for Casey James, possibly his first #1.
