Too Fast is absolutely amazing, I hope that can become a single at some point. Didn't have a chance to listen to the whole album yet, but so far that one, Two Night Town, and Gonna Know We Were Here stand out the most to me.

Great- "Tryin' To Love Me", "Too Fast" "If My Truck Could Talk", "Old Boots, New Dirt", "Don't Change Gone", "Miss That Girl", and "Two Night Town". Good - "Show You Off", "Burnin' It Down", "Tonight Looks Good On You", "I Took It With Me", and "Gonna Know We Were Here". Meh - "Just Getting Started", "Sweet Little Something", and "Laid Back".
Based on the Taste of Country and E! previews of "Fast Lanes" and "Too Much You For Me", they'll be "Greats" for me.
Admittedly, I'm a major Aldean fan, but I really like this and think (as objectively as possible for me) that it's a very good album. Right now, my personal album of they year will be a tough decision between this, I'm A Fire and Gravity

Not too difficult to figure out why! :) The songwriter. Even gets a little cameo in at 2:28

When I listened to the stream, I remember thinking "this better be a single!!!" during the beginning of Too Fast. For as unnecessarily popular as Burnin it Down is, this album has some pretty good songs on it. Gonna Know We Were Here is still my favorite, with Sweet Little Something right behind (I just wish I didn't feel like I was playing Super Mario down at the arcade during the intro).

Well I own all of Jason's albums but I have to say I'm not excited for this one at all. Obviously that's due to my intense dislike of "Burnin' It Down" (I seriously hate labeling a song as "the worse ever", but BID takes the cake for me), but I still went ahead and gave the full album a listen tonight, and... ...I think this might be the first Aldean album I'll pass on. Almost every song seemed so safe both lyrically and production-wise...just safe watered down 80's rock music. All of the songs seemed to bleed into each other, and Aldean's vocals don't sound that good here. I've never been one to praise his voice (it's thoroughly average at best), but he's generally kept to his wheelhouse and as a result most of his vocal performances have been pretty good. But on Old Boots, New Dirt, Jason's voice sounds particularly thin, and there were several instances in which it seemed that he was singing above his range (which, again, is limited). I'm a big Chris Stapleton fan so I was glad to see he got another cut, and I was looking forward to "Too Fast". It's definitely one of the better tracks on the album but that's not saying much. Mostly, all I could think about while listening to that one is how Chris could sing circles around Jason. "Two Night Town" is probably the best track here, but I doubt that they release it to radio. The Atlanta stations and a couple others have already jumped on "Sweet Little Somethin'", so that one will probably be the 2nd single. It's not a bad song--definitely way better than the absurd lyrics of "Burnin' It Down"--but it's just such a safe song, and not original at all. I feel like I've heard ten different versions of that song by now. You don't even have to listen to a song like "Sweet Little Somethin'" to know exactly what it's about. It's just another predictable song in a long line of songs about a guy dying to get with the hottest girl around. Let's see..."Just Gettin' Started"...guy and girl drive out into the country in his truck, with the girl riding shotgun. Things start to get hot and heavy under the moonlight, and they don't even make it to the party. But hey! At least there wasn't a Bacardi reference in this one.. "Show You Off"...the girl is so hot that he wants to show her off and make all the other boys mad. It's the same title and pretty much the exact same song that Dan + Shay have out right now. "Tryin' To Love Me" isn't too bad but it didn't really stand out either--that's my complaint with basically every song here. "Laid Back" was really corny, and "Tonight Looks Good On You" is another theme that's been done better in several hit songs. "If My Truck Could Talk" doesn't work nearly as well as Kenny Chesney's similarly-titled "If This Bus Could Talk" from his just-released The Big Revival. As for the title track, "Old Boots, New Dirt", it's probably average at best. Guy moves to a new town, he starts walkin' around and what does he see? The local preacher and the old man at the courthouse...no stereotypes there at all. Honestly I can't remember enough about too many of these tracks to comment more thoroughly but let's just say that I was highly disappointed. Aldean just really sounds like he's phoning it in, just moving along on cruise control. I've never Jason Aldean to the high regard that I've held the likes of Keith, Kenny, Alan, and Tim, but I own all of Jason's previous albums and I especially enjoyed My Kinda Party; "Tattoos On This Town", "Dirt Road Anthem", "Church Pew Or Barstool", "Texas Was You", and "If She Could See Me Now" were all stand-out tracks, and there really wasn't one track on the album that I ever skipped. It was signature Aldean but he sounded more at home, and the songs sounded a bit more country. On Old Boots, New Dirt, the songs (aside from "Burnin' It Down") don't really sound any more pop or rock than his typical output, but they just sound plain bland to my ears. Night Train didn't have as many good tracks, but I did really enjoy "This Nothin' Town", "When She Says Baby", "Feel That Again", and "Night Train". Wide Open had "Keep The Girl", "The Truth", and "This I Gotta See", and from Relentless I enjoyed the title track, "Laughed Until We Cried", and "Back In This Cigarette", whereas I enjoyed "Amarillo Sky", "Why", and "Asphalt Cowboy" the most from his debut. Generally, with most country artists I fall in love with, I support them by buying all of their albums until whenever they quit making music. But over the last 5 years with some of today's more popular artists that's been happening less, and I think it might happen here. I'll give this album another listen or two, but it'll really have to grow on me for me to decide to buy it. It's not exactly terrible, but nothing jumps out at me at all. At least with past albums, I usually liked at least 3-5 tracks quite a lot, while most of the others were fairly solid. But this album shows no growth at all for Aldean...the songs sounded bland and Jason sounded bored. I'll be fair and listen to it another time or two to see if I find anything I like, but I have my doubts.

To me, the only song worse than "Burnin' it Down" on the CD was "Tonight Looks Good on You." Three months ago, Jason was hands-down my favorite country artist. I don't doubt that the song will be a hit (hell, it's already been top 10). But it's clear who Jason is trying to make hits for now.

Yeah it's a little disappointing because I feel as if the first 3 singles are already a given (Burnin It Down, Sweet Little Something, and Tonight Looks Good On You). I'm just hoping some of the more traditional songs can get a single release, specifically Too Fast, Two Night Town, and Tryin To Love Me.

Two Night Town was the second song released for promotion so it could possibly be a single, i'm looking forward to buying this tonight(all i've heard is Burnin It Down, Two Night Town, and Sweet Little Something) but yikes after some of the comments i've read i don't know if i should be. Guess i'll see

I think this will end up being my favorite Jason album. I absolutely loved it from first listen, much like I loved My Kinda Party instantly. My initial impression when I streamed it on BuzzFeed is that Burnin' It Down fits on the album despite there being nothing else really like it on the album.
Overall, I love the arrangements & production on this with my only quibble being the ZZ Top-like opening to Sweet Little Somethin'. Once I get past the EDM effect, I love the rest of the song, especially the processed vocals toward the end. Laid Back is probably the only song I'll end up skipping when I play the album.
I just purchased the Target deluxe version, and the three extra songs are good as well. Especially love Fast Lanes and Ain't No Easy Way, which feels like a good way to close the album.

This album is another good effort from Jason in my opinion. Burnin' It Down is really the only "different" type of song on the album, and for just one track I like it's inclusion. If there had been 5 similar tracks it would have been overkill, but one is just fine.
My single predictions: 1. Burnin' It Down 2. Sweet Little Somethin' 3. Tonight Looks Good On You 4. Gonna Know We Were Here 5. Tryin' To Love Me
I'm pretty confident the first four will all be singles. The last single (doubt they get to 6) will be a tougher choice. I went with Tryin' To Love Me because it has a different feel to it, has a mini hip hop background to it, but also serves as a tender ballad. I think any song on the album could not only be a single, but also hit #1. Show You Off is by the far the weakest song to me. My favorites are Gonna Know We Were Here, Too Fast, and Two Night Town, and I would love for all 3 to be singles, but I won't give my hopes up.

I will say this record is hard to predict singles off of. With that said I do think Sweet Little Somethin' and Tonight Looks Good On You are probably the only ones that can be predicted to be released. So many good choices to go with and just about all I think could work well. I wouldn't give up on a Too Fast and or Two Night Town being released. I could see at least see one of the to ( see what I did there?!) at some point. Would love for the title track to be release. Also while like mylifeback, I do get some ZZ Top vibes off of Sweet Little Somethin', but I also get some Lynyrd Skynyrd vibes off of I Took It With Me ( a little Saturday Night Special similarity). Overall I still think this is the best Jason Aldean album since Wide Open and is already one of my all time favorites of his.

When he played on the tonight show last night, "Just Gettin' Started" was announced as the next single. I'm not sure if it was a slip-up, but that's what was said. Honestly, I'm probably going to get hate for this, but I think this is the best album Jason Aldean has ever released. There's not a song on it that I couldn't imagine being played on country radio. I think this is the fist time he's released an album with no "filler" songs whatsoever. My personal favorite is "Tonight Looks Good On You," mostly because of the breathtaking instrumental arrangements used, particularly the guitar. Plus, I enjoy the lyrics and it sounds really good played loud on a good speaker system.
My single predictions: 1. Burnin' It Down 2. Just Gettin' Started 3. Sweet Little Something 4. Gonna Know We Were Here 5. Tonight Looks Good On You
Even though it's not on my list, I would love "Too Fast" to be a single. I absolutely love that song.

While I'm not sure it's my favorite of his albums, it is no way a drop-off or letdown imo. I really love this album, it's different but it's good. The changes in production of his songs, while still retaining his signature sound is something I really enjoy. Only song I'd prefer not to get released is "Sweet Little Something", it's the only one that feels completely bro-country, any other song is fine by me. Also, I found this little interview sound clip, cool information...I imagine whether artists like Aldean or not, they would ask the same things Justin Moore does lol. tasteofcountry.com/jason-aldean-old-boots-new-dirt-album-songs-interview/

Love (None)
Like 4. "Tryin' To Love Me" 8. "Too Fast" 12. "Don't Change Gone" 15. "Two Night Town"
Meh 1. "Just Gettin' Started" 7. "Tonight Looks Good On You" 9. "If My Truck Could Talk" 10. "Old Boots, New Dirt" 11. "I Took It With Me" 13. "Miss That Girl" 14. "Gonna Know We Were Here"
Dislike 2. "Show You Off" 3. "Burnin' It Down"
Hate 5. "Sweet Little Somethin'" 6. "Laid Back"
I hate to admit that I got pretty bored listening to this album. Jason's style has worn on me over the years. There are a few standouts ("Too Fast", "Tryin' To Love Me", 'Don't Change Gone"), but the rest of the album is just so bland. "Two Night Town" is good but it's not the masterpiece I was expecting.
There's not much left to say. I've never been a Jason Aldean fan and this might be my least favorite album of his. It sounds like he's going through the motions most of the time and he doesn't show any growth or originality on this album. 2.0/5.0
Single Predictions 1. "Burnin' It Down" 2. "Tonight Looks Good On You" 3. "Tryin' To Love Me"/"Too Fast" 4. "Gonna Know We Were Here" 5. "Just Gettin' Started"
He will release at least one song that I will enjoy listening to. My original prediction was "Burnin' It Down", "Tonight Looks Good On You", "Sweet Little Somethin'", "Gonna Know We Were Here", and "Just Gettin' Started". Then I realized that all these songs sound so similar that he HAS to release at least one slower song, which hopefully is "Tryin' To Love Me" or "Too Fast".

My god....I was a big fan of his past 2-3 albums, but this one is literally "Get Me Some Of That"/"Take A Little Ride" repeated over and over again. There isn't one song on here that sticks out to me. "Too Fast" isn't a bad song, same goes for "Two Night Town", but neither are really eye opening. I expected better.

Sales prediction of 290-310K, according to Hits.
That's still very good, but a step down from his last album.

My single predictions: 1. Burnin' It Down 2. Sweet Little Somethin' 3. Tonight Looks Good On You 4. Gonna Know We Were Here 5. Tryin' To Love Me My predictions/wish list: 1. Burnin' It Down 2. Just Gettin' Started (I hope Fallon was right last night in introducing this as the next single because I love the arrangement) 3. Sweet Little Somethin' (despite the ZZ Top opening) 4. Tonight Looks Good On You or Show You Off 5. Too Fast or Tryin' To Love Me I really like Show You Off a *lot* mainly because of the line "is that so wrong? come on", I absolutely love the way Jason sings that. Too Fast is such a fantastic song & I love the vocals on it. If not that, then Tryin' To Love Me; I think he needs a slower poignant song in the mix somewhere and either of those two would work well.

It looks like we all just need to lower our expectations at this point. There's too many ways now, both legal and illegal, to listen to a new album without spending $10 anymore. It sucks for me because I used to always look forward to watching album and singles sales, but it's just an outdated standard now. This why many our using new methods these days to release music, like U2 did (kind of successful but lots of backlash) and Thom Yorke is doing, and also like Radiohead did once by letting you pay the amount you wanted to for their new album.

I don't love this album but i like quite a bit actually(although nothing will ever top the Relentless album for me) i seriously hate how much Burnin It Down has grown on me but it has. I absolutely love the title track, Two Night Town, Too Fast, Tryin To Love Me, and Don't Change Gone. However my favorite tracks are actually the bonus tracks from the Target deluxe(bout damn time i didn't have to go to Walmart to get a deluxe edition). Josh Thompson actually helped to write Fast Lanes and in my opinion Josh is a very good writer. The album does have some duds like Laid Back(i honestly hate party songs more than songs about wanting to "love up" on your girl) as well as I Took It With Me, and Show You Off. However i am a big Aldean fan and the good outweighs the bad by a large margin in my opinion.

Anybody found a way to preview the 3 bonus tracks? I really don't want to pay Target $10 for just them unless they're REALLY good.

Kentucky25 the only thing i could find is a 34 second clip of Too Much You For Me on Youtube. However the tracks that you listed as favorites from the album pretty much matched mine and i thought the deluxe tracks were some of the best on the album so i think you would probably like them. My favorite one was Ain't No Easy Way which feels like it could have been on either of his first two albums, Fast Lines feels like it could have been on the My Kinda Party album. Too Much You For Me is definently a rocker and a good one at that. the target deluxe is definently something you should get down the road however i know how you feel, with all these albums coming out my wallets taking quite a beating as well lol

Haha. Thanks for the information either way though!

I can't remember where I'd seen it, but I think both Billboard and Yahoo mentioned that they thought it could do at least 400k. The projections just kept going down. HDD first mentioned in an article that the first week sales were expected to "exceed" 500k. Then in their subsequent chart of Q4 projections, it became 450k. Then Billboard published their own projections and had it at 350k. Now, from first-day sales projections, it's 290-310k on HDD and 280-300k on BB. In fairness to him, Blake and Lady A majorly underperformed too. Billboard initially projected 200k for Blake... actual first-week sales: 101k. Initial projection for Lady A was 100-125k... actual sales: 74k. Jason will likely trend up though, especially if he does what Blake did -- a $4.99 weekend sale at Amazon -- or something similar.
