Welcome to my review page!!! Feel free to comment about my songs, and hope u enjoy this !!! #YASSS #EXCITED
as this is my first review, pls tell me what's wrong with this :)
SAM FELDT & DE HOFNAR - "BLOESEM"
Being one of the standout deep house artist this summer, Sam Feldt doesn't stop making enjoyable music. Famous for his acoustic deep house, he began with his own single (a collaboration with De Hofnar), "Bloesem", while in the same time also releasing his remix of sander van doorn & firebeatz's "guitar track". Then he followed up with a remix of syn cole's "Bright Lights". Finally, he closed it up with his third remix of i'm An Oak's "On Trees and Birds and Fire". All four have a similarity... Playing it deep, and also acoustically.
Well let's move on to his single, "Bloesem". Maybe some of you have heard this, but undeniably, this is one of the best deep house track we have had this year. That flute and violin, accompanied with bass synths,is perfect. I wonder how they could think of this idea, as combining flute with bass synths is hard. But, they can make it, so i guess nothing is impossible :) those makes this so smooth, and everytime i listen this, i feel cheerful!!
However, there is still some negatives here. It is quite repetitive, and there is lack of depth (although deep house is not as deep as electro). It would get full score from me if there's a little bit of variation there...
Overall, this is very enjoyable and fantastic!! Rating : 9/10

Great review :) I thought I didn't know this song, until I realized it is just the instrumental version of another song with a Dutch title and a Dutch singer sputter over it

Really !? what song is it ? "Zolang Ik Jou Heb". ( As Long As I Got You) It's in Dutch so you'll probably don't understand it. It's a lyric video though

YASSS my second !!!!! Flip Here's your favorite !!! (and request) Avicii ft. Robbie Williams - "The Days"Well, Avicii doesn't need an introduction, does he? To sum it up, one of the most famous DJ in the world, have many big hits ("Wake Me Up", "You Make Me", "Hey Brother", and "Addicted To You"), and one of the richest DJ in the world. He has been touring all over the world, and such a shame that he couldn't performed in the TomorrowWorld due to his sickness. But while he was resting in his home, he released this song, the first single of his second album "Stories", called "The Days", featuring Robbie Williams. Here's my thoughts about this new song :)
Hearing the verse for the first time, I felt quite disappointed. The voice suits, but i felt it isn't the best from Robbie Williams. I also don't like the synths Avicii used to accompany the delicate guitar. However, the guitar is quite nice. The hook, itself, is quite catchy, and it is, for me, the standout of the whole track.
After the hook, I expected big, big, big room drops like "Wake Me Up". Instead of drops, it comes back to the guitar and immediately goes to the 2nd verse. That let me down so much, and is the vital mistake in the song. There's nothing special about the 2nd verse, just the same guitar play and synths, and the hook is the same, although with a little variation.
And finally, it's drop time !!! Preceded with some bridging vocals, the drop arrives!!... And i'm disappointed :(. Really, i think it's the worst drop from Avicii, although i like the melodies. Still, the drop is too soft, not like the other productions from him. I expected a big room track as a fantastic first single, but comes something like this. So disappointed :( . I expected so much better :(
I don't know why, but it is a grower on me, although technically, it is very lacking. Each time i listen to this, it keeps growing and growing. Hopefully i will get into this song in a short time cause i don't want to dislike Avicii's songs. Love him :)
Predictions : Breaking top 10 in UK and top 40 in US
Overall : The worst song in Avicii's discography. Still quite nice melodic drop, but it is too weak.
Rating : 6/10

Definitely his worst song, and that's saying a lot considering the fact that I'm not fond of him in the first place.

Zedd - "True Colors"
"True Colors" is the long-awaited Zedd's sophomore album, following his debut album "Clarity". The album was released on May 18 and it has had 2 singles, out of 11 tracks in it. The first one is "I Want You To Know", which features Selena Gomez and reached the top 20 in US. The second one is "Beautiful Now", featuring Jon Bellion. "Addicted To A Memory", which features Bahari, is the promotional single of the album. The album is set to debut at top 5 in BB200 this/next week with around 35k of sales. Now, let's review the tracks one by one.
1. "Addicted To A Memory (ft. Bahari)"
What a way to open the album with an oldschool Zedd! The vocal from Bahari is gorgeous, but the star of the track is indeed Zedd's production. The song starts in his basic electropoppy style, but the drop!!! So oldschool of him, and it's impossible for anyone not to like it. And that outro drop is fantastic.
Score : 9/10.
2. "I Want You To Know (ft. Selena Gomez)"
Ironic. The lead single is the one i dislike most. So much below my expectations from a collab between 2 superstars. It is so generic, and i can't hear any variations both in Zedd and Selena. I just love variations. In the positive side, the drop's melody is quite good, so gotta give some point for it.
Score : 5/10
3. "Beautiful Now (ft. Jon Bellion)"
The second single is much better than the first. Even tho this is a simple progressive house, i'm feeling something special with it. The chorus is adorable. Kudos to Jon for giving a flawless vocal. The da-da-da sound in the drop gives a unique atmosphere of a big audience. Great production! This is a great choice for a single.
However, despite all of the goodness, i think something is missing, but idk what
Score : 9/10
4. "Transmission (ft. X Ambassadors & Logic)"
Have heard rap in an EDM? Sure, there are many. Have heard rock in an EDM? Maybe, there are some. But how about rap & rock mixed in an EDM? This is f**king hot new stuff. This is my favorite off the album. I love the heavier part of Zedd, and X Ambassadors' verse & chorus are so well-composed. But my favorite part is Logic's bridging rap verse. It needs to be a bit longer tbh, but it's still a fantastic 20 seconds. Also shoutout to Zedd for mixing it so well! Just perfect.
Score : 10/10
5. "Done With Love"
This track features uncredited vocals from Jacob Luttrell, and his vocals is one of the standout of this. Hell, in this album all the vocalists are gold! Anyways, i love love love the use of the bass licks in the drop. The drop is kind of energetic too, kinda my style. The piano ending is so suitable for the track too!
Score : 8/10
6. "True Colors"
Yasss, i love it when Zedd purposely makes one song to the next one connected, like what he did in "Clarity" with "Codec" & "Stache" and with "Follow You Down" & "Eros". The difference here is that both the tracks are vocals, the first time he does so. Anyways, i love the atmosphere of the track. Sounds quite intense tbh. I like how the vocalist, Tim James, distribute the feeling throughout the song.
Score : 8.5/10
7. "Straight Into The Fire"
Another pure progressive. The start sounds a bit like "Beautiful Now", but the chorus from Julia Michaels is fire. Not to mention the aggresive and cool drop. I love how Zedd uses a high pitch for the drop. Despite being kinda generic, i think this might be a grower, and it's a great choice for the 3rd single.
Score : 9/10
8. "Papercut (ft. Troye Sivan)"
The longest track in the album (7:22) and some have trouble with the length (Excluding me since i have listened to many 10 minutes tracks from Deadmau5 ). I love the piano roll throughout the track, and i think Zedd made a great choice for signing Troye for this. His voice is destined for this. Love the relaxing drop too, and i think this is the most soothing track in the album after "Illusion".
Score : 9/10
9. "Bumble Bee (With Botnek)"
Botnek :'( As expected, this is the heaviest in the album. Zedd definitely produced the melody/build-up while Botnek was in charge for the f**king cool drop. i like the buildup but the one i love the most is the drop. Really, really Botnek. Even tho the first drop need more synths imo, but it's still a jam. The second drop is a f**king slayer. Love the track. Love the sound effect of "Break Through" as the bridge too!
Score : 9.5/10
10. "Daisy"
Once again, Julia is unsurprisingly uncredited. That being said, the fact that it's a pure pop song is surprising. However, that doesn't mean this track doesn't show that Zedd is a genius. Zedd's accompanying instrumentals successfully make pop music appealing to me for a while lmao. "Daisy" is perhaps my favorite pure pop tune this year.
Score : 8/10
11. "Illusion (ft. Echosmith)"
And yasss, Zedd connects "Daisy" & "Illusion" :'( Truly a trademark of him. "Illusion" is a great way to close the album. I love the anti-climax drop and Sierota's vocal is as angelic as usual. Also, i love how Zedd use the outro instrumental to properly close the album. What a relaxing way to finish a great ride.
Score : 8.5/10
So, overall, this album is >>>> to "Clarity", and for me, stronger in the album terms too. It's like we are brought in an adventure in which we go through every music genre in an album (Pop, Rock, EDM, Rap). More importantly, i love how he starts and ends the album. Fantastic sophomore album and my favorite album in 2015 so far.
Average : 8,5/10
Also, the colors in the score for each songs indicates which color each song refers to in the #ZeddTrueColors event.
Feel free to post your thoughts about the album below! :)
