Alrighty, so after hearing 1989 in full.... I'm so over Shake It Off. Next single is ready to smash already... but I do think it deserved #1 this week. Whatevs though. Hopefully something new will take over next week!

I don't get the AATB Hate. The song is a legitimate phenomenon, not some Psy bullcrap

I don't get the AATB Hate. The song is a legitimate phenomenon, not some Psy bullcrap I would argue that PSY had a bigger impact than Meghan tbh, and even deserved a #1, one of the few times I feel streaming should kick in. But I do agree, people shouldn't hate AATB's success, she deserves it. BUT I also would love to see a change, as I'm personally burned on it, and I love "Title" a lot more now, and "Lips Are Movin'" is growing on me.... and the Swifties are mad cuz Taylor didn't get another week.

From what I understand, 4 million streams = 100k sales.
Meghan's 2 million streams lead equals 50k sales lead.
kworb estimated Taylor sold 183k and Meghan sold 143k, so Taylor only had a 40k sales lead.
That's why Meghan's large streaming lead trumps Swift's small sales+airplay lead.

Amazing that even with that sales it was able to stay at #2. This is gonna stay for a while in top 10. We don't know what the sales were though. The article says that the song's sales count on the "Digital Songs" chart is 62,000 due to the subtraction of "complete my purchases" orders. That is not, however, the number that was included in the Hot 100 calculation. "For the purposes of the Hot 100, however, aggregate sales contribute to the song's overall point total." =========== Also - what the hell is going on with Paul Grein's column? That's like five weeks in a row of promising the other Hot 100 movers and then not posting them.

I love the way Chandelier is still going up lol. According to Kwrob, it's up 8% in sales this week (for next week's chart). Possibilities of it going back to the top 10 (even just to 10, +2)?
I'm extremely worried that Lifestyle is still going up..

I fucking hate the new layout!! No weeks on chart? No indication of points increase? Screw you Billboard! (can somebody tweet this to them, wouldn't like to set up a Twitter account just because of this)

I f**king hate the new layout!! No weeks on chart? No indication of points increase? Screw you Billboard! (can somebody tweet this to them, wouldn't like to set up a Twitter account just because of this) Hover your mouse over the up/down/right arrow :) I like it as now when you view previous weeks, you can see the whole Hot 100, not just the top 10.

Thanks! That's a plus I must say. But weeks on is probably the most important information together with peak position and this shows neither of those. So disappointing.

Welcome To New York at #48[This has to be the lowest debut for a countdown single by Taylor in a long time] Out Of The Woods at #77 in it's 2nd week.

I am actually pretty happy with the new instant grat rule. I think it much better reflects consumer behavior.

Actually the info I mentioned SHOWS when using Firefox but not Chrome. But pointless "update" anyway. The only good thing is that now the whole chart is on one page.

So basically what has happened with Taylor's past albums having the whole album chart the first week on the Hot 100 chart will most likely never happen again because of this new Billboard rule. This might stop artists from releasing instant grats before album releases anymore.

I dont think most labels are using instant grats as a way to pad chart stats, they are a marketing tool to drive people to preorder albums. But the days of releasing instant grats just to get a bunch of chart stats are probably over.

Next week will be exciting...
It might be hard for any of the Taylor tracks to debut within the top 10.

Exact soundscan numbers aren't allowed here I believe (there was an actual letter from within the industry itself I think), you should probably delete that.

So basically what has happened with Taylor's past albums having the whole album chart the first week on the Hot 100 chart will most likely never happen again because of this new Billboard rule. This might stop artists from releasing instant grats before album releases anymore. Shouldn't really come into play this week though. Blank Space, for example, wasn't offered as an instant grat single - the ~150K who will buy it this week are buying the single, not the album that happens to have the single on it. Obviously, the rise of *streaming* is a factor (since it elevates the # of sales required to chart), but the rule change wouldn't hinder Swift's success this week (at least I don't think it would). I thought you just had to provide a direct link citation? They're posted in press releases, on sites like Hip Hop DX, Roughstock and on some rando blogs. Thanks! That's a plus I must say. But weeks on is probably the most important information together with peak position and this shows neither of those. So disappointing. Those things also show up when you hover over the arrow. There's nothing that existed on the old chart that doesn't exist on the new one (except sorting, unless I'm missing something), but you now get everything on one page. The paginated situation would be annoying on any server, and since Billboard already has the slowest weirdest server known to man, it was particularly problematic.
