Wow, what a bold choice. It is definitely one of the best songs on the album, although I would have preferred "Lights of my Hometown". Great to hear Brantley release a song like this though, it really should help kill the idea that he is a strict "bro" artist. I hope this can chart high for him after Small Town Throwdown was a relative bust.

I really like this song & can see it growing on me immensely with further listens.
I never did get around to listening to this album since it wasn't up on Spotify for the longest time. Really loved Bottoms Up (mainly the production/instrumentation/arrangement) and Small Town Throwdown was just OK for me. (Really, I find most collaborations to be super lame & disappointing songs and I wish artists would. just. stop.)
This sounds like a big hit, though, and is a nice change of pace.

Hands down the best song on the album, and easily the best single of 2014 so far for me. God damn perfection, and sounds like a smash to me.

This is tremendous. Outstanding lyrics, good vocals considering he doesn't have much range, good production as well. Should be another big hit for him.

Very nice. I haven't liked any of his past singles-they were passable/didn't hate them, but never liked any of them enough to buy.
This one I will.

This song is just stellar really. I was hoping this would make it as a single. I see, if this is successful, BG going for 5 singles on this album. I think they'll go... 1. "Bottoms Up" 2. "Small Town Throwdown" 3. "One Hell of an Amen" 4. "Lights of My Hometown" 5. "17 Again" or "My Baby's Guns n' Roses"

Yeah it's the weakest on the album, by far...I think it made sense for the times, but quality wise, not so much.

Surprising strong tune from BG, even the production is pretty solid. His voice is still nails on a chalkboard at times, but he mostly makes the most of it here. After two straight singles that I despised, it's great to see such a thoughtful, well executed release.

Surprised by this as it is not necessarily a 'new' song. Didn't he give this away as a free download like a year ago?

I actually like this quite a bit. It's not lyrically stellar but it's lyrically good. I'm not particularly a fan of his vocals, but I can look past that this time around in exchange for the fact that he's actually releasing something with great substance and meaning. This is a pleasant surprise from Brantley Gilbert!

I can see what Big Machine was trying to do here. They seem to be trying to put out music with more diverse subject matter for each of their artists lately ("Dirt" for Florida Georgia Line, "This Kind of Town" for Justin Moore, both of Tim McGraw's two recent singles, etc.) However, I'm not sure how well this will do on radio since it's nowhere near one of the most streamed of Brantley Gilbert's album tracks on Spotify. My guess is that radio will have a bit of enthusiasm for the single but the sales numbers may not measure up so in the end Brantley may end up missing out on the top 10.

I think this will be a #1 hit for Gilbert. I think it will be received similarly to "I Drive Your Truck" and "Drink A Beer". Brantley is definitely big enough to have a song like this work for him. It's an emotional song, while still remaining pretty radio-friendly.

Just out of curiosity, how can you see which songs are the most streamed from an album on Spotify?

Dm2081, on the Spotify Web Player, go to the artist's page, click on the album that you want to examine, and you will see a track listing for the album. To the side, under the "thumbs-up" icon, you will see colored and darkened bars. (The more colored bars, the more streams a song has received.) If you hover over a song's bars, it will give you the total number of streams. I have added an image of what it looks like on the page for Just As I Am. "One Hell of an Amen" appears to be in sixth place, behind the two singles (obviously), "If You Want a Bad Boy," "Let It Ride," and "My Baby's Guns N' Roses." "17 Again" and "Lights of My Hometown" are trailing just a few thousand behind.

The more I listen to this song, the more I think it's going to be big. It's got a nice emotional story to it, but it's not super slow, and still has a slight rock edge to it. This is going to be a lighters up kind of song, and I think it will definitely be used a lot commercially too. This song speaks to the country audience pretty well, and you can never underestimate that when considering a song's success.

I've given this a few more listens and I'm now more inclined to agree with zjames, jhomes87, and dm2081 that this may actually be a hit for Brantley Gilbert. Radio will probably like the first verse's reverence for servicemen and the whole theme does seem like something country fans and country radio will enjoy. "Small Town Throwdown" didn't exactly move the needle very much so I can see why it might be a good idea to try to release something with a little bit more "substance." I'm not sure why but the first time I heard this song it came across as much less radio-friendly and I didn't quite pick up on the hook like I did in more recent listens.

Okay, the add date as been switched to November 17th according to tonight's Billboard issue. I suspect the fact that Luke and Jason went for adds today had something to do with that.

Apparently Brantley Gilbert's latest CD has been yanked from Spotify recently. I tried to listen to this song again and it was no longer there.
I love this though. His first single to date that is anything better than average and it's definitely a welcome change of pace, imo. I hope this becomes one of his biggest hits.

Ha just listened to the album for the first time on Spotify last night. Glad I got to it when I did ;)
Anyway, this was a clear standout. I enjoyed his last two songs but this is a great change of pace, and hopefully it becomes another hit for him.

Scott Borchetta has repeatedly spoken about his fears that streaming was causing his artists and label to lose revenue. Big Machine has tried to "protest" by waiting until 60 days after album releases (Rascal Flatts' and Brantley Gilbert's latest albums) to upload the songs to Spotify and of course they recently removed Taylor Swift's music, but I wonder if the backlash will be too great for this to be a sustainable plan. Borchetta has denied that this is a way to increase the label's net worth for a possible sale of the label (presumably to UMG), but a part of me wonders if there is still some possibility that a sale of the label is not completely off the table. I'm not saying that I think this is the case, but there has been a lot of serious speculation about this rumor from sources such as the New York Post.

Just saw where Broken Bow removed Jason Aldean's "Old Boots, New Dirt" album but left his older albums on there. It's interesting seeing how all the artists and record companies are handling the increase in popularity of streaming sites.
