OMG. Dyyyyyying right now. This song. NO words. The kids won't even know what hit 'em. The next Blurred Lines, but with 1000x the impact. I can hear it performed by wedding bands already and can see YT people of all ages losing their shit. Further proof that Mark Ronson is one of the best producers with a clear respect for the musical styles he emulates.

I don't know how I feel about this. I don't hate it, but I'm not overly enthusiastic like some of you are either. Maybe I just need a few more listens before it clicks with me. I definitely see hit potential with this song though.

OK.... After long hours of listening to this ultimate jam I came to one conlusion: It's the first song EVER where Bruno managed to capture the spontaneity & high level of energy he has while performing live on a studio version. Mars x Ronson is really a team made in heaven. #59 on iTunes

BILLBOARD: Mark Ronson Says New Single With Bruno Mars 'Uptown Funk' Is a Milestone for Both of Them
“It’s definitely one of the best things I’ve ever done,” Ronson says of the track. “And I know that it’s one of Bruno’s favorite things that he’s ever done, as well.”
Ronson accrued some serious frequent flyer miles trying to pin Bruno Mars down for Uptown Special. Mars wound up playing drums throughout the album, and he co-wrote the kinetic single.
“It was six or seven months of chasing Bruno around on tour,” says the soft-spoken Ronson, who co-produced “Locked Out of Heaven” and other tracks on Mars’ 2012 hit Unorthodox Jukebox.
"Uptown Funk" stems from a lick that Mars and his band were playing on tour. It turned into a full-on combustible groove workout with elastic bass and indomitable spirit.
“When we hit on that opening line — ‘This shit, that ice cold/ Michelle Pfeiffer, that white gold’ — we knew that we had the seed of this really exciting idea. I pushed myself much more than I have on anything else in the past.”____________________ #49

This song is like an amalgamation of so many different musical styles, not just funk. The horns remind me of "Some Like It Hot" by the Power Station, the bass reminds me of "Get Down On It" by Kool & the Gang, and that guitar reminds me of "The Breaks" by Kurtis Blow. If this could break big on radio, it would be huge.

This is pleasant, but I would have preferred this if someone like Morris Day or Prince were singing on it. Bruno sounds decent but I just don't feel he sounds genuine on this, like he is trying too hard to be Prince ( who doesn't want to be Prince because he's so fucking awesome?). The production is excellent though.

Its ok but nothing special, I guess its just not my type of music. I hated Blurred Lines so I guess it makes sense, although this one doesn't annoy me as much.

Love it; bought it instantly after 1 listen. I wish this was the lead single from Bruno's next album because I'd love for him to continue in this direction.

What is this? lol. They captured the whole funk era. I almost didn't recognize Bruno's voice. I would like to point out that the song interpolates George Kranz's "Din Daa Daa" (later sampled in Ying Yang Twins' "Shake"). Love it.

Some songs are retro sounding. This song is literally straight out of the 70's/80's.
I f**king love it.

Oh my gosh. This is EXACTLY what I needed! I am a huge fan of Prince, funk/soul, and the 80's. This gave me all I needed.
Mark & Bruno did their thing on this. Bruno is DEFINITELY the heir to Prince's throne. Bruno is the sex!

OK, here's the thing: Mark Ronson is known as the picky and bossy producer who doesn't let tunes leave his studio until they live up to his very high standards.... He not only knows that he's viewed as a perfectionist, but he also DIG. IT. So for him to openely admitt there is someone else who toughht him what PERFECTIONISM really is.... Someone, who despite his attention to the detail drives HIM crazy... is HUUUGGE. There were legends about how demanding Bruno is in the studio.... To the point that pleasing him is a BEAUTIFUL NIGHTMARE, and honestly I always thought that is an overstatement, until THE Mark Ronson confirmed that... It's from Ronson's interview on BBC Radio 2 w/ Jo Whiley on 10/11 We worked on this song for 7 months and Bruno Mars, who I worked on the song with, he’s a pretty much perfectionist. I thought I was…until I started working with him. We wanted to get this song to this place where we just thought it was great. "[The perfectionism] was like a chain. I was driving the people underneath me mad. And [Bruno] was definitely driving me mad as well. It was like a driving-you-mad tree.
DAMN, BRUNO. :o # 19 on iTunes.

Fucking amazing. Who knew such a song could be made in the year 2014.
I need this to tear shit up on radio for months and months, and I'm 100 percent sure that's exactly what's going to happen.
