Mercury has always been luke warm at best in promoting Scotty for anything, or praising him for that matter. Even though he constantly sells out his concerts and is gaining radio momentum, he seems to be on UMG's back burner. A lot of his fans I talk to who follow the charts on Monday night were livid to see campaigns already started for other artist but nothing for him. And this was in the same week that he achieved 3 Platinum singles. No mention of that either. So if campaigning is what it takes, then Scotty doesn't have that great of a chance thanks to his label. Kacey will need Mercury promotion too.

The artists listed on the ballot are as follows:
Parmalee Frankie Ballard* Eric Paslay* Jon Pardi Danielle Bradbery Chase Bryant Dan + Shay Sam Hunt* Maddie & Tae (listed on the ballot as Maddie + Tae strangely)* Chase Rice Cole Swindell* Swon Brothers Scotty McCreery
I've starred the five artists I expect to get voted in. I agree with jhomes87 that Cole Swindell and Sam Hunt seem like locks to win given how popular they are. The industry seems to adore Eric Paslay and he's written a lot of songs for other artists that have becomes hits, so I think he'll get voted in. Maddie & Tae and Frankie Ballard have also made a pretty big splash early on. Frankie really stood out to me for being only one of seven artists to score multiple Billboard #1 singles this year, and Maddie & Tae have really amazed me with their fast climb up the charts.
Parmalee, Jon Pardi, Danielle Brabdery, Chase Bryant, and Swon Brothers have done nothing to make me feel they have much longevity in the format, so I narrowed them out (of course, I wasn't expecting Charlie Worsham to do much either and he got voted in last year). Chase Rice and Dan + Shay will probably go somewhere eventually but radio has been lukewarm towards their music and they don't seem to have the strong industry support either, so I think these two will sit CRS out.
McCreerian1980 brought up a great point about Scotty McCreery. Mercury doesn't seem too aggressive about pushing for him to get voted in, so I think this coupled with the fact that he's already had a lot of exposure from Idol may result in Scotty not making the show, but I'm sure Scotty will slowly cement a place in country radio's playlists, as he's still pretty young and has had a decent amount of success so far.

If Scotty does get chosen he will have a hard choice to make. He is playing a long ago sold out performance at FL's Strawberry Festival on the same night as the CRS New Faces show.

If Scotty does get chosen he will have a hard choice to make. He is playing a long ago sold out performance at FL's Strawberry Festival on the same night as the CRS New Faces show. This could be why his team isn't launching a campaign. They might figure that they don't really need it, given that Scotty already has 4 pretty big radio hits under his belt. Because if they wanted to, I have no doubt that his label, management, and even the folks at 19/Interscope could get behind Scotty and get him into the final 5. But Scotty might not view it as essential, and he may have told his team that he'd rather play the Strawberry Festival thing. I'm sure they've thought long and hard about this. And in any case, he'll still likely be at UMG's showcase so it's not like radio folks won't see him perform his hits and perhaps a couple of new songs even if he isn't part of the New Faces show. I'm a little surprised that Kacey Musgraves and Dustin Lynch aren't on the ballot though (btw, where did you get that info from, @daydrinker?) I would think that, if Kacey were eligible, she'd be a shoo-in even though she didn't have a huge 'era' in terms of radio airplay. She's got more buzz and momentum than artists like Chase Rice, Dan + Shay, and even Frankie Ballard, I'd argue. Dustin's just starting his 2nd album but even so, I'm surprised that BBR isn't campaigning for him (although I guess I'm not sure how artists get to be on the ballot). Dustin hasn't been around as long as Scotty, and yet Scotty is on the ballot and Dustin isn't. Dustin is also clearly popular at radio, given his selection as an On The Verge artist earlier this year.

jhomes87, I just clicked on the banner ad Warner Brothers put out in CAT this week and it took me to the ballot page. (You could also click the ads from Warner Brothers and Dot in Country Aircheck Weekly). I will also put the link here.

The five chosen should be, in my opinion: Chase Rice Cole Swindell Maddie & Tae Frankie Ballard Sam Hunt
But honestly, Parmalee and Dan + Shay would be good choices as well. I just think the 5 listed above have the brightest futures.

There's always a token critical-darling and a token female. I think Eric Pasley and Maddie & Tae are locks.
The other 3 slots go to the most successful commercially (in terms of radio airplay & sales) - Sam Hunt, Cole Swindell and Frankie Ballard fit that profile (#1 hit with platinum sales, or multiple #1s with gold sales).
My only worry is that UMG has no campaign ads for Sam Hunt. It seems like all the non-UMG artists (with a realistic shot) got campaign ads. *smdh*

And if not, he'll get in for 2016 then. The deadline for votes is the 27th (Thanksgiving!) so maybe they'll put a big ad up in Monday's BB/MB charts yet.

I would expect:
Sam Hunt Maddie & Tae Frankie Ballard Chase Rice Cole Swindell
Personally, I would prefer Parmalee or Swon Brothers over Cole and Chase, but I think that those 5 make the most sense.

I don't know about Chase Rice's chances of getting to perform for CRS. He certainly doesn't have the critical acclaim going for him, and country radio has been surprisingly lukewarm towards his very radio-friendly music. The slow climb of "Ready Set Roll" may have killed a lot of his momentum and country radio may feel a bit less enthusiasm towards him. Like I've said before, I do expect Chase Rice to break through eventually if not with "Gonna Wanna Tonight," but I think he'll have to slowly work his way up the ladder while someone such as Eric Paslay has already gotten strong support and vibrant enthusiasm from radio, so while radio does favor the bro-country style of Sam Hunt, Cole Swindell, and Chase Rice, I can see Rice being swapped out for Paslay.

^ Well IMO "Friday Night" and "Song About A Girl" are the weakest songs from his fantastic debut album. And he is a critical favorite. As mentioned above, they like putting a critical favorite in the lineup

Same voting pattern as last few years. Not surprised Sony got shut out. They're definitely the weakest out of the Big 4 when it comes to radio promo and awards nomination/wins.

I'm surprised not to see Chase Rice listed, but I'm not complaining. I actually was not expecting Chase to make it. I'm not a fan of his music anyways so I'm not complaining either but I wasn't surprised he didn't make the top 5. Dan + Shay were the only one's that I was thinking would make it but their label mates made it difficult to make that happen. In the end, not surprising at all.

If you haven't listened to the album, I strongly recommend a quick listen. As zack97 said, the songs are pretty good. I would honestly say that Song About a Girl is my least favorite from the album and I believe that was a very "safe" choice for radio, but if people are going to catch on with his music as they have done with She Don't Love You, he may not have to play it safe for long. Radio does seem to give him a good boost, but remember how iTunes sales for She Don't Love You were shooting up and most of us couldn't even figure out why at first? Saw him live twice. He doesn't have as much personality as most of the others, but he can sing.

Black River Entertainment Announces CRS Performers. Black River will be showcasing three of their artists during the label's CRS luncheon: John King Kelsea Ballerini Craig Morgan Music RowKellie Pickler and Glen Templeton will not be included. I'm assuming Kellie doesn't not have new music on the horizon and Glen doesn't surprise me since Black River has chosen to not give one of his songs a real push to terrestrial radio yet.

UMG Nashville reveals artist lineup for CRS 2015 Luncheon.

Music Row I'm always excited to hear about the UMG Luncheon every year because we usually hear a lot about new singles or what could be released next from current albums. The only UMG artists not performing are Luke Bryan, Lady Antebellum, Jon Pardi, Joey Hyde, Alan Jackson, Eric Paslay, Kelleigh Bannen, George Strait, Gary Allan, Sam Hunt, Shania Twain, Jennifer Nettles, Scotty McCreery, Lauren Alaina, and Clare Dunn. Sam Hunt and Eric Paslay aren't playing because they will be playing the New Faces show instead. As for the other artists, it probably means they either couldn't perform or aren't ready with new music yet. I am guessing that UMG isn't ready to move forward with Joey Hyde, Kelleigh Bannen, Lauren Alaina, or Clare Dunn yet. Jon Pardi, Gary Allan, and Scotty McCreery probably don't have new music ready yet. And Lady Antebellum is playing the Opry show on kick-off night so UMG probably decided not to schedule them for double-duty, that way they would have more time to show off some of their other artists and their music. So that only leaves Luke Bryan, Alan Jackson, George Strait, Shania Twain, and Jennifer Nettles. Jen is obviously focusing on her broadway gig right now so it's no surprise that she won't be playing this show. Shania...well, no surprise there either, lol. I must admit I'm very disappointed that neither George nor Alan is performing, though. I had thought that Alan would at least have a couple new tunes to perform, but maybe he's not really going to cater to radio anyway... Same could be said for George. And finally, Luke...I think it's pretty obvious that he already has some new tunes ready to go but since he's such a big name right now it's not as if he needs to stand up there and hope that radio people will like his new music--they'll play it no matter what. I was also thinking that maybe the label wants to keep those tunes under wrap and keep any live performances to a minimum, that way the songs don't get out until the actual studio recording of the lead single is sent to radio (probably in April). With the exception of Vince Gill, all of the UMG performers have current projects out or upcoming projects. I'm interested to see if David Nail performs a new single, either from I'm A Fire or from a new album. Eric Church will also probably perform 1-2 albums tracks (I imagine one of them will be the next single), and he might do "Raise 'Em Up" with Keith as well. Speaking of Keith, I imagine he'll probably just focus on REU and maybe "Somewhere In My Car" and/or "Cop Car" or possibly an album track from Fuse, since I don't think he's ready to perform any new post- Fuse songs just yet. Easton, Josh, Kip, and Mickey will probably all have a couple new songs to play in addition to their current singles, and I'm really excited to see what songs Kacey Musgraves will perform, since her performance will likely reveal the first couple of songs she's cut for her next album (in other words, if Kacey performs 2-3 new songs, it's almost a guarantee that they will be included on her next album).

Lauren Alaina and Clare Dunn have been in the studio lately working on new music but both are definitely not ready to showcase it at CRS. Joey Hyde had just a horrible debut single and a horrible chart performance to go along with it so perhaps they are regrouping with him. I still don't quite know what EMI is planning with Kelleigh. I'm thinking they can't keep her on the roster forever but I do know they really believe in her. Unfortunately radio has just not taken to her and it's getting worse with each single they release. Now she has a new song with a new music video but no push to radio. Perhaps they will push "Smoke When I Drink" eventually but I doubt it.
I too am disappointed that Alan and George will not be there, though I believe both will not be getting another top 10 hit at radio, at least nowhere near a consistent basis anymore. I do know Alan will have new music out by the Summer.

jhomes87 In the case of Luke and Lady A, they have their international shows kicking off right around the time of the UMG Luncheon. I want to say the day after, I might be wrong. Only reason they aren't playing it or at least it seems that way.

Country 2 Country is the same day for Lady A, I believe, and I'm sure as country's hottest act Luke is going well in advance for promotion, etc. :) Very excited to see what Kacey performs. (I'm seeing her next Friday and hoping for new tunes!)

I could be wrong, but I was under the impression that at UMG Nashville's luncheon, all performers play just one song apiece, with the exception of a couple of high-profile closers (like Vince Gill, Eric Church, and George Strait). In Mickey Guyton's case, I'm guessing she will perform something other than "Better Than You Left Me," because she already performed that at the luncheon two years ago (and received a standing ovation for it). I'm very surprised not to see Gary Allan not among the performers. This mid-January tweet from Rob Beckham of William Morris suggested that his new single is coming soon:Asked about the tempo of the song, he replied:If I remember correctly, though, UMG Nashville usually has another event during CRS -- last year, I believe it was Jennifer Nettles and Kelleigh Bannen who played that event (instead of the all-roster luncheon). Perhaps Gary Allan and one of the less-established artists not playing the luncheon are being held out for the other showcase.
