So is this list still interesting? I know I'm way older than most contributors, so while I can play almost any of these in my head, how many of, say #1991-#2000 are most posters familiar with?
Do you know the song with rank of your birth year, for example? (Assuming you're over 18.)
In other words, is it worth continuing the list past 2000?

^Yes. Might as well take it to 2500 to keep it a round numbe. Thanks!

Here's a quick & dirty version of the top 100 artists of the decade. It's based on the sum of song points where the artist listed is the primary act on the track listing. So tracks by Eminem & Rhianna are credited only to Eminem, to Rihanna and Drake only to Drake, and songs by Drake and virtually everyone else only to Drake. And of course it only include songs, not albums. The first number is total points, the second is the number of charted tracks.

The list is based on the same methodology as Billboard's all-time lists. I don't know what Billboard will actually use.
I'm not going to do all the features, but I checked for Drizzy and RiRi.
Drake is co-credited or featured on 59 songs totaling 5,385,635 pts. Rihanna is co-credited or featured on 19 songs totaling 3,573,223 pts.

I think it would mostly be a wash. The acts at the top are for the most part proportionally represented in other act's hits as featured acts. Katy Perry is on the low side. Bruno Mars, thanks to Uptown Funk on the high side. Maroon 5 not at all, but Adam Levine a little.
Also, should "featuring" credits be counted as 100% of lead? If not what percent?

rockgolfIs this “Decade-End Hot 100 Artists” list following Billboards formula? Can you post the full list including features? Thank you so much! thegreatdivineOMG! Rihanna and Drake are so close! I hope Rihanna gets it, and only because Drake may be the overall ‘Artist of the Decade’. Ugh. I really hate that Rihanna has slowed down with her releases! Their the KING and QUEEN anyhow. The decade-end list is far more interesting to me. Had no idea Katy Perry had so many points. And I'm interested to see some artists being placed so low. If Rihanna had her '05-'12 run of album releases during the streaming era, things would be much different. What really helped Drake was his run last year. 29 weeks at #1 and in all 29 weeks he got full points from each #1 that ruled because he didn't feature anybody. Throw in the fact that he featured on songs that spent multiple weeks in the top 10/top 15-25 for MONTHS and it all adds up. Even now, songs like MIA and Going Bad are still gaining him points, even if it's only little by little. For the longest time, I was convinced Rihanna had this title in the bag because the gap just seemed SO HUGE and no one ever predicted Drake having the 2018 he had. I don't know. Rihanna would need to DOMINATE at the top spot of the Hot 100 for A LOT of weeks to possibly catch up to Drake and that's assuming Drake doesn't drop any new music this year. I hope she can somehow manage to get the Hot 100 artist of the decade title, but it looks more and more unlikely. She's already wasted two months in 2019 she could have used to start to make a run for the lead. Drake has the Billboard 200 artist of the decade title in the bag, regardless of when Adele or Taylor Swift drops. They won't have enough time to make up the points and Drake is still charting 5/6 albums weekly with at least one project being in the top 10 per week. This week, it's So Far Gone, last week, it was Scorpion. That's why I said that the streaming era rewards consistency. Drop enough songs/albums with enough sizable success during the streaming era and you can build a huge lead for yourself and that's exactly what Drake has done here. Still, I'm interested in seeing how the rest of the year shakes out and what Rihanna, Drake and everyone else ends up doing. That's what I'm most excited about, tbh.

I don't think so, but I believe Billboard will account for it. I think there's some working theory of how the points get shared, like lead artists get 70% of the points on a song while the featured artist gets 30% of the points and in a case where multiple artists are featured, it's broken down similarly. Either way, the lead artist always gets the most points.

kierz7 I know, lol. I meant for each artist on the decade-end chart, seeing as a bunch of those artists had a lot more success with their features than their lead offerings. Would be interesting to see how the rest of the list shakes out with everyone's features accounted for. I think Khalid would be much higher. Same for a couple of other artists.

I put the top 2000 in a format that anyone can extract to a spreadsheet so you can sort and filter it any way you want. You can extract anything greater than 2009 for that list.

Rockgolf, you're a genius
Looks like I added the wrong multiplier to God's Plan, it's 15 on the decade end list and 76 on the all time. Will fix with the 3/2/19 update

tanooki: Are you manually plugging in multipliers? I'm using the VLOOKUP function in Excel. I have a table that lists the start date for each multipler era in column A and the multiplier value in column B. Then the function =vlookup("chartdate", Multiplier table array, 2, 1) automatically selects the right value.

At this rate, what are the chances that any song not yet released will make the decade end?

At this rate, what are the chances that any song not yet released will make the decade end? A couple should, I'd say 2-3.
