Maybe for next decade that could be a chart with real points just for fun.

rockgolf you wanna get in on this? Billboard gave out the last Artist of the Decade honor in early December 2009. tanooki I was thinking of starting a thread to keep track of all the front-runners for the Artist of the Decade (Drake, Adele, Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars, Rihanna). Just random stats like total weeks spent on the Billboard 100/200 this decade. Total weeks spent at #1 and in the top 10 of the Hot 100/Billboard 200 this decade. Album/single units sold so far this decade (only US figures of course). Total number streams pulled this decade (strictly US figures, too). Along with any other figures we might have for any other metrics we believe Billboard might use. The main focus will probably be the Hot 100 and the Billboard 200 considering they're the two oldest and most famous Billboard charts and they were the only two metrics considered when the award was given out in the last decade. I want us to gather as many stats as we can get our hands on to make our own predictions on who might win the award. We're in July now and no one seems to be focused on any of that. I feel like the race will be a lot closer for all the front-runners when all the figures are tallied up. I'd also like it if someone could come up with a formula we could use to calculate chart points for both the Hot 100/Billboard 200 just in case Billboard ends up using chart points instead of raw numbers. If any of these figures are already available, we could get started right away.

I only have Hot 100 info, which will only be a part of the total. Does anyone know how they weigh songs vs albums on this? Is it straight 50/50?

There's also the part where we really don't know if they'll use chart points or raw numbers in both instances. We also don't know for sure if they'll take into account other details like US streaming figures, US single sales figures, etc.

Updated on Streaming Songs:
As of right now, I'm up to the end of the 2015 calendar year for the list. Since the chart started on January 26, 2013, that means that I've tracked 42% of the weeks of the Streaming Songs decade-end list.
For those who are wondering how this system will work, I'm using the same multipliers as the Billboard Hot 100, and the points system I'm using is the same as georgetherunner314's system. (I'm not sure if there have been any significant changes made to the top 50 since then, but I'm going to assume no, for now).
Once I go up to July 2, 2016, I will officially be halfway done with the Streaming Songs list, and that's when I might post a list containing the best-performing streaming songs up to that date. That will be done tomorrow if not the day after.
As of right now, the song currently at #40 has 624,111 points. The cutoff for the final list will be more-or-less that number of points (so I'm raising the cutoff from 525-550k to 625k). I might do more cutoff adjustments, but that's my best estimate as of right now.

Maybe for next decade that could be a chart with real points just for fun. I actually think it's possible that Billboard could do the decade-end list with real points. because why else would the original 90's decade-end list be off from the all-time listAlso, that thread exists: pulsemusic.proboards.com/thread/180686/2010s-decade-chart-using-pointsEdit: Looking at the thread, there are a TON of amazing songs in the top 90 that aren't even top 100 here. So I-

oh my gooood sicko mode i'm having a heart attack please do this There's a very small chance for that. It's #44 currently, 4 weeks left with 3,000 points per week. That would be 1,045,000 (all-time list cutoff is 1,049,000) and the fact that Halsey's Without Me is rising MUCH faster is not helping.

It should definitely pass See You Again though.

So I've decided, as I've stated a few times before in this thread, that I've decided to keep a running decade-end list for the Streaming Songs component chart. This has been done once before by someone else for the Digital Songs chart, and I think it'd be interesting to do decade-end lists for other component charts as well. The formula and multipliers for this chart are the same as the Hot 100.
I'm going to borrow Daniel Collins' format for this so we can distinguish between this chart and the Hot 100 in some way. (Or probably because I like this format a lot better, lol.)
So let's get started, shall we? (Keep in mind that the chart started in 2013, so the song at #100 here has very low points compared to the #100 on the Hot 100 decade-end list). This also means that I'll probably continue tracking this list beyond this decade until the Streaming Songs chart reaches its 10th anniversary. I plan on doing weekly (or monthly) updates for this chart.

STREAMING SONGS CHART 1.26.2013 - 7.13.2019 This is great! Thank you! I hope BB uses different multipliers for the Streaming Chart because after the changes last year (paid vs. free streams), the turnover rate is much faster. In 2018, 18 songs reached #1 on the Streaming Songs Chart and that alone should be a reason for 2018/2019 having a 1.2-1.5 multiplier on the decade-end charts. Look at your ranking, three songs from 2015 in the top four and none from 2018/2019 in the top 10. 2012-2014: 0.9 multiplier (streaming was basically YouTube and programmed streams - the slowest streaming services). 2015-2016: 1.0 multiplier (on-demand becomes huge in the USA - the highest turnover rate for streaming is on Spotify/AM). 2017-2018: 0.9 multiplier (Pandora is added to the Hot 100 - the most popular programmed service - again, programmed streams = slow turnover rate). 2018-2019: 1.2 multiplier (YouTube and the free tiers of Spotify/SoundCloud are downweighted and Amazon becomes a huge service for Christmas/Country/HAC songs).

How many songs per year on the GOAT list, as of this current Billboard week: They should've used 1.05-1.1 for Dec. 5, 1998-Feb. 5, 2005 (after Radio-only song being eligible to chart and before adding Digital Sales to the Hot 100).

Yeah, the multipliers in some ways did seem somehow seem a little off. Like, I thought "rockstar" would definitely be in the top 5, so I was kinda surprised when it wasn't lol. I was using the same multipliers as for the Hot 100, so based off of recent times having a huge multiplier compared to what I have, I guess it makes sense that it's underrepresented. Also, thanks for pointing out how the chart was calculated over time - I'll definitely look into it, and it will be helpful in determining how I'll weight in the chart in the future (I'll reveal how I'm weighting the chart, and it should be similar to what you suggested). Also, I have a question: If 3 of the songs in the top 4 for this system are from 2015, wouldn't it follow naturally that the multiplier for 2015 will be smaller?

So I applied the multipliers for the streaming songs list, and the more I consider the fact that Mo Bamba and FEFE end up in the top 90 under this system, the more I think that 1.2 might be too high of a multiplier for the current era. So perhaps 1.1/1.15 would work better for the current era in streaming, especially since the top 10 chart runs still appear to be long.
I feel like there must be a way to accurately calculate a multiplier in a specific era in comparison to other eras.

That's just what I think they should do for the decade-end charts. Like, sometimes the multipliers used for the Hot 100 decade-end makes no sense and that's BB's fault. I think they should've increased the multiplier when they added Apple Music. I know it was in mid-to-late 2015, but I don't know in what month that happened. 2012-2015 (before Apple Music): 0.9 multipier 2015-2017 (after Apple Music / before Pandora): 1.0 multiplier

The iffy multipliers is why I posted the GOAT by year. It shows that certain eras are way overrepresented (the early 80s, the late 90s) and some are way underrepresented (late 80s, early 70s, 00s).

^The 2010s will also end overrepresented although as a whole similar to the 1990s with every year having at least one song.

So I decided to test the multipliers suggested by fhas for the Streaming Songs Decade-End List (who also did a great job explaining how the chart was calculated over time):
1/26/2013 - 8/8/2015: x0.9 8/15/2015 - 2/4/2017: x1.0 2/11/2017 - 7/7/2018: x0.9 7/14/2018 - present: x1.2
Here is the number of songs from each year in the top 100 with this system: 2013: 12 2014: 15 2015: 15 2016: 15 2017: 15 2018: 16 2019 (so far): 12
From the data presented above, it's pretty clear that this new system weights every year pretty fairly, without severely overrepresenting or underrepresenting any year or set of years.
I don't plan on posting a new list for this week, but I will definitely do so next week. While the actual multipliers that will be used by Billboard are still a complete mystery, they should be close to the multipliers given above.
Edit: I had a 2016 song marked as a 2015 song for some reason.

I used the BB600 to rank the songs, then whatever songs were off, I gave an additional multiplier to fit it in its correct spot. It gives me an idea how many points each song should have as I keep adjusting the formula
